Try files from here

Optimus must be enabled. Nvs5200m won't work on High Sierra.

HDMI also won't work since it's hardwired to the Nvidia.

Also add this kext to /EFI/Clover/kexts/Other since you're running from the caddy.

You could try just add this kext first before trying the other bootpack from link

AppleAHCIPort.kext.zip

OK, this is the report:

1) tried to just add AppleAHCIPort.kext.zip but it didn't work

The error is on the start up of the windows manager, I beleve (from the error message on the last line of the startup sequence when it stop (but not crash) (message say something windows manager was up time 0s).

2) tried the suggested leppy700m EFI.zip

It work (need Optimus enabled).

First asked to copy files on HD (pre formatted form Sierra) and after install from HD (I didn't check if after installation it was APFS, sorry)

What is OK and what is KO:

USB 2.0 on the left side work (under Sierra it didn't, maybe because there is a SIM card slot with a working SIM inside, I didn't tried without the SIM until now...)

NVIDIA didn't work, but is not an issue, only is a pity for the wired HDMI output...

Audio didn't work !!! (On Sierra is OK)

Bluetooth didn't work (same on Sierra after post installation)

Someting strange: I installed High Sierra on primary HD with caddy mounted (with Sierra inside). High Sierra see the drive from System Info but NOT from Disk Utility, recognize the Hitachi HD in the System Info, but didn't recognize the file system... ?!?

Major problem for me:

AUDIO

2nd HD in the caddy

Any suggest?

P.S.: How is possible to get a log from the startup sequence?

Thanks, I will try them.

For LOG, answer found: :-)

At this section you can add "Boot Flags" and "Kernel Flags" to be used by the system... Here we will list only Clover's proprietary "Boot Flags", different flags, like for example, npci=0x2000, npci=0x3000, darkwake=0, etc..., should work as expected...

-v - Verbose Boot.

-s - Boot OS X into Single User Mode.

-x - Boot OS X into SafeBoot (Safe Mode).

MountEFI=yes/diskX - Mount EFI partition at every boot or from disk X (X = disk number).

LogLineCount=0 - Set maximum number of lines for log file, default 0 (no Limit).

LogLocation=PATH - Set the path for the log files to be saved.

LogEveryBoot=Yes/No - Save log files at every boot.

I try it...

Until now:

Sierra

finally working the USB 2.0

bluetooth not yet :-(

High Sierra

with some difficulty finally installed it again (the leppy700m EFI.zip work but not at first attempt, I don't understand the exact sequence to complete the installation because I need to try 6 - 7 combination: with caddy, without the caddy, with OPTIMUS, without OPTIMUS (it need OPTIMUS, but after some of the try with KO output I found it have self-disabled OPTIMUS in BIOS !!!), with BIOS reset to default, with BIOS configured, starting the post installation from USB key with leppy700m EFI, starting the post installation from caddy with Jake Lo EFI and so on... During installation the brightness go to low, but you can put it up again with FN keys, you have some glitch on screen, and other minor problems; in most case the installation stop with the ssd working for hours but no progress...).

So, now:

I have Sierra installed on a spare HD in the caddy, all OK, (wifi, audio OUT internal and headphone based, MIC headphone based (internal seems not working...), graphic HD4000 based, touchpad multitouch, FN keys for audio and brightness, VGA 15 pin out. USB 2.0 and 3.0).

In control Panel I even see the DW5560 (the SIM card reader...) as network interface, but I don't have software to connect, APN choosing, etc...

Of course HDMI is not working, bluetooth same not working (is a conflict for sure, because before the post installation it is working)

I didn't try more interface yet (card reader)

MANY MANY thanks Jake Lo !!!

I have High Sierra installed on primary SSD, with AFPS, wifi working (but I put inside a DELL DW1510, so it is gratis), USB 2.0 and 3.0 working.

No audio, no recognize of the HD in the caddy with Sierra, no bluetooth.

Thanks leppy700m for your EFI.zip, it let finally start the installation of high sierra with no problem and... let me conclude it with 6 - 7 attempts.

Now I start the the problem solving on high sierra to have same working hardware of sierra.

As i state before, the maior nuisance are: audio not working, caddy not working.

Final system I'm trying to obtain: High Sierra on internal SSD full working and HD in the caddy as large storage.

Mac Hosehead now I try your suggest (on High Sierra, because Sierra is stable and I need to work with it...) and after let you know.

OK, High Sierra still problems.

I successfull install with:

"Try files from here

Optimus must be enabled. Nvs5200m won't work on High Sierra.

HDMI also won't work since it's hardwired to the Nvidia."

from Jake Lo.

I installed it on primary HD (in the caddy I have Sierra).

After I tried:

"If you have AppleHDA_IDT.kext in /L/E or /S/L/E, remove it

In Config file, disable any AppleHDA hot patches under kextToPatch

Add the attached kexts to /EFI/Clover/kexts/Other

Hopefully should fix audio and enable Caddy HDD/SSD

FixAudio&Caddy.zip"

But still: no audio, no reading disk in the caddy (High Sierra found it but say partition map not recognised).

:-(

I can send my current EFI, if help,  it is the sum of "Try files from here" + "FixAudio&Caddy.zip"

No other changes made...

Update

  • Lilu.kext to v1.2.3
  • IntelGraphicsFixup v1.2.7

If you have previously installed VoodooHDA, make sure you had removed AppleHDADisabler.kext and VoodooHDA.kext

Is Sierra installed to MBR format?
