i think one of the crew has one maybe as he progresses he will shed some lite on the subject. but like all hacks you need certain baseline setup of kexts, smbios, boot.plist, extracted dsdt, and a bootloader at least to start building from... i would worry about audio and trackpad/ keyboard after getting it to installer reliably. some times you need nullcpu.kext to bypass acpi errors

I've tried using iFail L2 restored to a 8GB PNY USB.

I then installed the latest Chameleon bootloader to the USB.

I can install iFail L2 but after the install completes, the OS halts but I hear the OS X setup music and speech. I would be looking at the verbose screen though, not Lion.

any ideas?

Everything seems to work fine, except Wifi (have to buy Atheros instead of Intel Cenrtino), but I am experiencing issues with shuttdown/restart.

Everytime I try to reboot or shutdown the computer, it won't fully shutdown/restart and I have to push and hold the power button to shutdown/restart ( it won't continue without it).

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance

For expamle, my resolution is 1366/768.

GREAT write-up. My only hiccup was that my only mac in the house was an Emac which didn't much like the Lion image. I had to manually create a Snow Leopard image ( with chameleon ) using the Emac, and get SL up and running enough to create the Lion USB Installer on my E6520.

My E6520 is configured as follows :

i7-2640m

8Gb ddr3

160Gb Sata drive dedicated to Lion

Nvidia NVS 4200M

Broadcom 4311 wifi card in the WWAN slot

My built in keyboard worked for the install initially, but I wound up hooking up a bluetooth keyboard on the set up screen as it decided not to work there.

Im setting up multifail now and will report back shortly

Ok, so its all up and running!

Im slightly concerned about the video card saying it has 1Gb ram when it only has 512Mb, but aside from that, this may become my primary OS now!

Quick question though. How does one adjust screen brightness. The Brightness keys dont seem to work >.> I was hinking it lined up with the apple keyboards with F1 and F2, but it doesnt work!

Also, I have no webcam. I think there are plenty of old school solutions though that I could use to get it up and running properly. ( MacCam for one )

All in all, this wound up being rather painless after I got the Lion installer working! Great write up!

For anyone interested, I used shades for Semi-Dimming the screen. I also use sleepless to prevent the laptop from trying to sleep when I close the lid :D

Everything works great and i scored around 7k in geekbench on this 5400RPM Hard drive. Not too shabby Id say.
