Dell Latitude 7490 Clover Catalina - Almost there, except for accelerated graphics

Hi,

I followed the detailed instructions here to set and I am now so close. My Latitude 7490 is almost exact the same as the one the in instructions except mine has 32GB RAM and the Intel Wifi/Bluetooth card. Got everything working, even the the Wifi/Bluetooth.

My final challenge is that I don't seem to have accelerated graphics working from the Intel UHD 620.

Problems:

  • can't run VLC (although QuickTime works), playing MP4 has audio but video screen is just continuous blinking with no image; YouTube in chrome browser works
  • chrome rendering of some web pages (including this one) very laggy
  • Intel UHD 620 shows up in System Report, but Activity Monitor shows zero activity and zero processes for graphics
  • finally, can't seem to access graphics in GeekBench

Noob, so I apologize in advance if there are obvious steps I'm missing. Thanks in advance.

Note I generated the debug file, per FAQ, but it's too large to upload (28MB), most of that is taken by CLOVER/kexts/ folder so I removed it from the zip.

Ken

Looking at your posted IOReg + SysInfo data, graphics acceleration is fully functional. All is present and Ok under IGPU@2 in IOReg and SysInfo shows KBL graphics drivers are loaded. Your issue lies elsewhere to me. Check your BIOS settings against the recommended ones.

Thank for taking a look.

I did go through BIOS setting according to guidelines here (I updated BIOS to 1.16.0 using Windows). This problem is affecting performance and impairing video applications (VLC and GeekBench).

My PCI listing shows this:

The graphics 620 line is similar to what you showed, except the hex address is 8086:5916 (yours is 5917). After many hours, I'm nearly out of ideas and options to try. Unfortunately, this issue is close to a deal breaker. If I can't get over this, it would mean Linux or...back to Windows on this machine for me, something I really want to avoid after coming so close get this together.
