A huge step: I managed to install Mavericks on my Dell Precsion 490  using the unifail usb installer on my own mavericks dmg :)

Status now is I can boot mavericks using the unifail boot stick and load mavericks completely without delays.

Last step is install a working BootLoader , Audio, Network, Firewire ?? but i do not know how since i do not have an EDP set.

my specs are included in this topic. Who can and will help me out?  Then i have this beautiful machine working :)

  • Try VoodooHDA (one of the latest 2.8.x) + AppleHDADisabler for audio.
  • If you do a Google search for BCM5752 kext, you should easily obtain one off the Net
  • For bootloader, you should install Chameleon Wizard app and use that to install Chameleon on your Mavericks partition (has to be v2.2 r2246 or above). You'll need a working access to the Internet for that. Failing that, look on the Net for an installer package for a recent Chameleon version (r2246 or greater).

Unifail? Oh, I get it. You'll need the matching Multifail package to mesh with that.

As to installing the kext, you're a bit on your own there, since the EDP setup does all of the work like that automatically, thanks in no small part to myFix.  With the /Extra setup that the Unifail installer placed, you really should use the matching Multifail post-install tool to work with.

I personally would prefer to see the 490/690 supported directly with a bootpack and integration to EDP, and the posting that you did might help a bit with that.

Hi Thank you for the reply and useful tips, however i myself do not have the knowledge to create an EDP bootpack so i visiting the osxlatitude site for useful tips and software and in this case i came out  on an other site.

Because my 490 is not supported yet i have to search for the internet for suitable kext for my internal devices..  I created an list of hardware ID's and name shown above and if needed i can give more information so someone?? can create an bootpack for this machine.

For now i just need an working network kext and an working bootloader then it works by me..

Greets.

Oh, I understand completely; just giving a bit of a heads-up, that's all.

Anyway, enjoy the box and learn; there are a number of tools out there that can help you put a driver into place properly.  The most important piece of the pie is getting the kextcaches built against an /Extra with the proper permissions on all files.  I think at one point while I was doing the install on my 690 I used something called kext wizard that does most of the heavy lifting, but that has been a while (I did the 10.6 install on the 690 right at two years ago, and that's a long time in this scene; lots of changes since then).

The Hackinstaller script is what I used at the time (none of the other tools at that time worked for me in my instance, since I was needing to install to SATA but use a PATA DVD to do the install).  None of the tools, Nawcom's or TM's, or MyHack, worked for me in my particular situation at that time.  You can find the Hackinstaller script at http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/185097-guide-scripted-retail-mavericksmountain-lion-install-on-gigabyte-mobos/page-1 and that might help you get enough info for you to be able to help with the EDP model setup.  But I've not used the latest version of that script, nor am I likely to do so.  I personally would like to get EDP up on it, but I simply haven't had the time at the moment.

We'll try to help you complete your OS X installation and, provided you use myHack, we can certainly work with you towards EDP integration and, consequently, a bootpack.

For your info, our OSXL bootpacks are "just" a subset of kexts and plist/dsdt files making the absolute minimum required to boot a myHack installer successfully and install the targeted OS X version to full completion.

Tell me what you need and i will try to provide you with info . My main concern now is to get my broadcom BDM5752 to work and also that my system boot with an chameleon package.

The Nvidia FX4600 works fine with mavericks that one less to go..

Audio  works with the tip from you an topic earlier. :)

Then for me i have an working spare model working with mavericks in case my MacPro decided to switch off permanently ( witch i hope will not happen ) :)

Greets an thanks.
