Dell Vostro 200 With Mavericks, Audio Hissy

Hi Everyone - Brand new to the group and proud to say got my Vostro 200 running Mavericks.  Only is seems to be with the Audio - its hissy / buzzy as hell.  When it should be quiet (i.e. nothing playing at all (video or mp3)) there is a very noticeable audio Hiss.

Any ideas?

Many thanks in advance,

Carl.

PS - Hope I have given you enough info to go on?

Known issue: use the VoodooHDA kextpacks from the /Extra folder posted in my Vostro200 guide. Basically, you need to edit the kext plist to adjust one of the default audio parameters in order reduce that hissing "silence" sound.

From memory, it's either the iGain or PCM parameter of the Info.plist file of the VoodooHDA kext. Setting it to 90 gets rid of the hissing sound at low audio volume (you'd hear it if you put the volume really really loud though). The kext from the pack is all tuned up anyway, there's nothing to change unless you want to experiment a little.

Everything will be ok once you install that pack, yes, but adjust the resolution of the Chameleon boot plist to match that of your screen.
