Getting Wireless Cards to Detect as Air Port

I stumbled upon a great tutorial after not being able to boot the Unbuntu Live cd thumbdrive mentioned in the Rebranding Broadcom tutorial in the Wiki. Most notably there are guides for other 3rd party wireless cards, which I have not seen anywhere else. Looks like it was intended to be updated, but the poster has retired.

Check it out here:

It outlines how to modify kexts to get detected by OSX. I successfully modified mine to detect my Broadcom 4312 Rev 01 using the linked guide: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=23684

I didn't know wtf to do with regards to editing via terminal as outlined in the tutorial, so I copied the original kext to my desktop, right clicked to Show Package Contents, made the edits, saved, and copied the modified kext to S/L/E. Wifi card was detected after Reboot.
