Dell Latitude E5500

There doesn't seem to be much help on the front of the Dell Latitude E series.

I am pretty sure there is a reason for this but they are newer than the D series are they not?

I have successfully gotten SL 10.6.0 installed and running on the Dell E5500, everything works apart from sleep and the sleep enabler kext just freezes up the LT

I really would like to progress to OSX 10.6.8 or even Lion if It can do it

specs are available here http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/late5400/en/qrg/qrg_en.pdf

Intel Core 2 Duo P8400 @ 2.26GHz

2GB RAM

160GB 7200rpm HDD

BIOS A17

Intel GM45 Graphics

IDT 92HD71 Audio

any help in getting this down, greatly appreciated

unfortunetly we do not have many E series at all so that is the reason why. with the hardware at hand it makes it easier to support.

Well at least your honest and get straight to the point, god I love Mac People..

I can also let you know that the GM45 (AKA GMA4500) is not supported and the best you might get is full res on the screen but no qe/ci so no hardware accleration and apps that need that wont work... That is apps like the build in dvd player, the latest flash versions, ios emulator and so forth.

Hi,

Pretty much as Paranoid and Bronxteck said:

1. The tests we have done with the mid. E series was stopped because of no accelerated graphics

2. The D series is extremely cheap and is very mainstream, meaning alot of people have it and its cheap, hence alot of people can test for it

The good news is that the latest E series with i5+ seems to work great and we have started to work on those :)

Can you point me in the direction of this work? I looked in every subforum and didn't see anything about the e6520/e6420/e5520/e5420. The ONLY problem left with these is sleep.

amazing.. you have a fully working /Extra package ?.. mind if we add that to EDP ?

Sleep... hmm..tried adding sleepenabler.kext ?

more like 90% working

Basically everyone gave up on it because of lack of a working sleepenabler.kext and price point makes it not as popular as others. However with the workhorse that the E-series is, I would rather not sell it and get a less powerful laptop if I can get sleep working.
