E7240 10.11.5 battery life

Hi All,

Thanks for all the wonderful guides here, I got my E7240 working/booting, and everything works fine!

I have a question regarding battery life: I have a 42W battery, and on usage my battery life is quite low (especially compared to the Win7 installation).

On Win7 I can get around 6-7 hours of work time (no games, only browsing and Office365 stuff)

On 10.11.5 I can only get around 4 hours.

I have used the boot pack as well as the E7440 addon - I guess that is the closest match.

Can anyone give me some insights into what I should be looking at?

Thank you!

OS X is generally more graphics demanding than Win7, so it's perfectly normal to me that battery life is shorter under OS X than it is with Windows. Depending on SMBIOS profile and FakeSMC tuning, you may optimise CPU speed stepping and possibly gain a little battery life. I take it you're using a CPU-specific SSDT to handle good CPU power management. You may also want to turn off accessories such as Bluetooth if you're not using them.

Thanks Herve!
I am using the MacBook Air 6,2 profile and have created an SSDT with pikeralpha's script, soo all good there.
I don't have bluetooth since I am using a DW1510 wlan card for native WiFi.

Re the MacBook Air 6,2 profile - I have an i7-4600u CPU with an Intel HD4400 and a 1366x768 screen. Would you recommend any better system definition, or is the 6,2 the best for me?

One thing I am noticing is that my GPU is stuck at 350Hz, whereas it should be at 200, no? Maybe that makes a difference?

Thank you again for the fast reply!

Well, I initially also used the MBA6,2 for my Haswell-based E6440, then changed that to MBP11,1 as that gave me one extra intermediate CPU multiplier. Try and tune your FakeSMC kext too, that may modify iGPU behaviour. You never know and no harm to try...
