  1. Hello Hackintoshers,

long time lurker + hacker here.  I am curious if anyone has tried getting 10.8 (or 10.9) to run on an APU.  I have read threads on other sites claiming successful installations.

I think a nice a8/a10 Kaveri machine would make a very nice affordable hackintosh if possible.  I know OSX much prefers Intel and last I checked you needed to do certain hacks to get it to run on AMD, or you needed to use Legacy software.  Just checking in to see if this has changed,  I am trying to ditch Intel as much as possible after some recent "back door" revelations brought forward by the Linux community.  Would be awesome to get the APU power in an OSX laptop for ~$400

Assuming it hasn't been done succesfully, but let me know!

  2. my Hack will now be the only utility used, and a new zip file (based on the e6410 ML zip) will be used...

Good to hear.  I had a lot of problems using that and kext wizard getting my cache to work, as you probably remember  :P

  3. Hey,

i'm an it consultant and i'm using a lot of editors and programming tools. furthermore my windows 7 is a companie image with a lot of security policies and some certificates to vpn and email encryption. so it's not possible to reinstall windows. sure, the most important things are backuped, but this would only save me some hours but let me still stay on some days.

it is possible to split my drive into to partitions. then i can intall osx on the second one and let my win 7 partition where it is. to get my mbr table back, i would use a windows recover cd and select my first partition. after that i would install chameleon.

is something near to this possible?

What you want to do is add another HDD.  Personally, I have a Crucial m4 128gb holding OSX, and a 500gb holding linux, windows 7, and downloads from OSX.

You can buy a caddy for the e6410 optical drive for under 20$ on ebay.

EDIT: You may also want to keep the company windows drive in the optical bay if you think you are going to use the OSX side more.  I am not sure if there is a speed difference, although I hope the SATA controllers are the same for CD / HDD

  4. 10.8.5 working great so far on my laptop.  I believe my boot times are even faster than 10.8.3.  I reluctantly updated after I saw 10.8.3 was no longer given access to appstore.  Unfortunately for me, I had not installed Xcode before 10.8.5 was released QQ.

    Small issues;

Install hangs with "bluetooth setup assistant"  -- Easy just disable bt from bios, and toggle wifi switch off during install.

Post install I did have to update to the 10.8.4 S/L/E folder because I was doing the combo update from 10.8.3.  Also Wifi did not work as expected, so I had to replace the airportd file.

Also a warning to those with 10.8.3, if you decide to update, you will need to update the 10.8.4 kexts, specifically IOFamily & AHCIPort, from outside of OSX.  The combo update has a built in reboot step you cannot fix or do anything about as far as I know.  So do not upgrade if you do not feel comfortable in single user mode or have a windows partition with MacDrive (awesome software).

If you don't feel comfortable in Single User mode yet, start practicing, you're going to want 10.8.5 eventually :D

  5. I've tried this method multiple times with the 10.8.4 installer .... I tried it using the e6410 ML folder with the installer, I tried using the e6410 10.8.4 ML folder, I deleted the proper kexts for intel graphics, nothing works.

I think you are not following it 100% based on this.

I didn't get my mouse working the first time because I forgot to install the proper Extra folder using myhack AFTER making the installer.

Also be careful of when you install what 10.8.X kexts.  You don't touch the patch specific folder until after the install for the most part.

    Read it VERY carefully.

EDIT: Thanks for the suggestion Herve will try now.

  6. Clean install finished.  Through the entire post install process I did not use Kext Wizard to touch caches, only repair permissions and install kexts.  Using the given commands, I get different errors which actually specify kexts so I'd like to think I'm getting somewhere.

I am now going to post the given terminal errors, It mentions some networking kexts and I'd like some feedback so I can figure out if they are needed.

    Thanks again guys

The most interesting thing to me, is that this is DIFFERENT than what I got a few minutes ago on a previous boot, although I did forget to use the 'touch' command, so that could be the variable.

Thanks again guys -- I'll let you all know if the cache starts working.

  7. So I attempted to install at work (Where I have no access to an OSX machine)

It failed during install and won't boot to USB after the failed install, my guess after reformatting the SSD there is no more chameleon on the main drive.  But it's weird that it won't boot from USB - doesn't myhack install chameleon on the USB stick?

Reformatting / Making the USB thumb drive and will try again tonight, will keep you guys posted.

Edit:  A USB 3.0 myhack install disc does little good (Pretty sure that caused my problem at work - at least the bootloader part)

Edit2: Also realize now this disk I installed with did not have a custom Extra folder, meaning the new install got none of the goods lol

  8. Vanilla install meaning 10.8.0?  I actually think that the installer I used was 10.8.3 retail.

And I haven't used Chameleon Wizard for anything so far -- am I supposed to?

Here is the plist uploaded as is...

  9. I think that you guys are right.  Using both must be screwing me up (since they use 2 difference caching systems).  So I'm assuming myhack is the relevant app and Kext Wiz is outdated?

I will try to do more today (maybe even here at work).

    What do you guys suggest for getting this all sorted out?;

    1) Remove Kext Wizard

    2) Install /Extra/Extensions (from ML 10.8.3 zip)

    3) Myhack quick

    4) Push /Extra/Extensions to /System/Library/Extensions

    5) Myhack full

    6) Delete duplicates from /Extra/Extensions

    ???

That's just a guess so please let me know if that is wrong.

And when I tried removing all kexts from /Extra/Extensions and pushing them to /S/L/E I got a KP -- myhack quick from my utility USB got me back in, but with no wifi.

Would love to get this sorted out (I have to switch back and forth between osx and win7 for work - IT Tech - and it SUCKS waiting for all the Kexts to load, the other techs are laughing at me :P )

EDIT: Since playing around with the Kext Cache I've also realized my Windows formatted (NTFS) HDD is not being detected automatically -- but it shows in Disk Utility and wont mount.  Is there a specific Kext that would be controlling the NTFS drive in the Sata CD-ROM tray?
