  1. I've noticed following issue with the volume settings of the integrated audio codec after restart:

The volume settings that i have made are stored in sound prefpane properly, also after reboot, but once i change the output volume via multimedia keys or with the volume slider in the menu-bar, the volume jumps first to max. and then it behaves normally. It also seems that the volume slider is not "linked" to the the multimedia keys, because if i change the output volume with the multimedia keys there are no visible changes in the menu bar item (also the slider stays at maximum). Once i move the slider it seems like the slider takes control over the output volume setting and vice versa (sorry, it's a little bit hard to explain...)

Also the volume settings are not stored properly when the computer goes to sleep - after a wake, the output volume is set to maximum. But for this case i found a workaround using sleepwatcher (made for former versions of voodoohda, but also works fine for applehda and fakestac, just let me know if anybody needs that...)

So, I wanted to ask if somebody noticed same behaviour on his machine and if that's a known issue with applehda + fakestac or is there maybe a simple solution? Thanks.

You're not the only one, I have the same result on my D630.

  2. Hi,

I tried installing the 64-bit only kext (as I have mountain lion) and cant seem to get it wokring - it shows an incorect low temp.

What version of bios are you using?

Do I put it in just extra or system/library/extensions?

Also I was using version 01 (cant find where to get 0.2) does this matter?

Would love to get fan control working!,

    Thanks

    Seb

  3. I have now recreated the usb installer adding the Extras via Myhack and pointing to the ones I had extracted from the bootpack.

Firmware has also been updated to A18

If there is any other advice you wish provide that would be great.

    Regards

There's one thing that is missing in the guide and that is to install AppleACPIPlatform. kext (from OS X Snow leopard 10.6.x). To be able to perform this you need your D430 system and use the OS X Mountain Lion install disk as a USB drive.

    1. Boot your D430 system, once OS X is loaded, connect the USB drive where OS X Mountain Lion was installed.

    2. Open KextWizard, and install AppleACPIPlatform. kext in S/L/E folder. BTW, you should install kext first on your desktop.

Here's the link where to get it or see the attached kext.

    http://team.osxlatitude.com/?dir=fixes/coolbook-lion

    3. Open application myHack/myFix/

    4. Select Full mode on the USB OS X Mountain Lion install disk.

    5. Restart and boot on the USB OS X Mountain Lion install disk drive. Voila!

Good luck and I'm pretty sure that should work. I encountered the same problem on D630 Nvidia.

    AppleACPIPlatform.kext from 10.6.7.zip

  4. Having successfully got FaceTime to work with my webcam, I invite all who met success to provide their webcam specs below:

    D630 (Intel 1440x900), Lion 10.7.4

-> FT running with Logitech C250 USB camera (model: V-U0003) + macam v0.9.2 installed

All LogiTech webcams that are UVC compatible to function on OSX 10.4.9 & above are listed here:

    http://logitech-en-amr.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/6471/~/uvc-webcam-support-for-mac-os-10.4.9-and-above

    and here: http://support.creative.com/kb/ShowArticle.aspx?sid=83939

  5. Yep

Like I said, it would not recognise my HDD in AHCI mode, whereas the SL install did. I even changed HDD's to see if that was the problem but still the same.

Yep done that already, but I am going to try SL again as soon as the myHack has finished doing its thing to my USB

Now thats the interesting bit. After I installed SL the last time, I did as myHack requested, installed the extras from my source folder, rebooted from the USB stick (as I could not boot from the HDD) and it booted to the SL desktop, however I had no ethernet, it was not showing in System Properties at all.

Like I said, I'll give it another go, but failing that I'll be going back to Win 7 and will have to save up for a Macbook :(

    Do you have a multi-boot partition (Win 7 & OS X)?

  6. 4 gb installed...

tried with 1 2gb module to see if it's not a bad module causing the problem.

I've put osx ml on usb stick along with the corresponding bootpack and the installer went fine until the point where i select the hard disk and just after that, the crash log window appear saying that there is errors. cannot go further.

I suggest you format the destination HD first. It always work!

  7. its the same i am using GUID and then MBR still the sam boot0:error

Your partition boot manager is faulty (No selected partition to boot). You have to boot with Windows ? Repair Disk(if you have it in a CD or USB drive) and use DOS prompt command to recover/enable the particular partition you want to boot first ( Linus, OS X or Windows). I suggest this link, read it and used it to fix your issues.

    http://ss64.com/nt/diskpart.html

Restart your PC, insert Windows Repair Disk in CD/DVD drive. On DOS prompt, type "diskpart" and then return. These are steps that you have to do.

    LIST Disk

    SELECT Disk=n

    LIST Partition

    SELECT Partition=n

I suggest you select the Windows partition, reboot to Windows (after this, DON'T panic as you won't see your OS X partition on boot). Download EasyBCD application and take control of your triple-boot, here's the link, read it: http://neosmart.net/EasyBCD/

Create/Add OS boot for OS X and Linux.

I hope this helps. This is a much better method to use for a multi-boot PC. I used this.

  8. Hi all,

I've been trying to install 10.7.4 on my Latitude for quite some time using various versions of the EDP and the Bootpack. All of my previous attempts resulted in KPs or otherwise malfunctioning system. My last attempt with the latest EDP and Bootpack for my model won't install at all.

I have the 1920 x 1200 model with Intel WiFi (yeah, I know). I've disabled Dynamic Acceleration in BIOS, along with the integrated network card (which I believe is a Broadcom) and the Bluetooth and WiFi adapters.

Now, I can boot all right into the installer without any special flags. I can get as far as the installation itself without no problems at all - and then a couple of minutes into the process it freezes. Just that, no KP or nothing, it just stops reacting to any input apart from holding down the power button and the installation stops. I tried waiting it out, but after about half an hour's time there was not the tiniest hint of progress whatsoever.

I figured I'd try and look into the install log, so I went and booted into Single User mode. And after a short while during which I was trying to figure out which partition should I mount and where to (without actual success), even the single user mode freezed on me. I believe the last command I issued was

    mount /dev/rdisk0s4 /Volumes/Mac

. The command never finished, just hang there for a small eternity until I lost my nerve and rebooted again.

Do any of you guys have any idea what I might have done wrong? what could I do next? I'm sort of lost here. Last thing I didn't try (and will do rightaway) is disable the PS/2 devices in BIOS and try with an USB keyboard and mouse from the start. Will post results asap.

    Thanks in advance!

Check your memory by booting an Ubuntu live CD or live USB drive and test the memory. That is the first I would do or if you are sure the memory are good then I suggest you go into BIOS and let it sit for a while (about > 15mins).

  9. Overheating has been noted by many, including true Mac users. It would appear to be an issue within Mountain Lion, something we anticipate Apple will address in an update.

I would consider stepping-down CPU speed for the moment - to be safe and cool down the system even if CPU process in ML is excessive.

  10. After fixing the disk permissions and installed a different boot loader, it seems to be working however sometimes it hangs on restart and I have to manually shut it down. Am I just not being patient enough or is there an actual issue?

Okay, grasshopper, what do you mean a different boot loader? What did you exactly do? Did you change to another install process?

  11. Dear Albert,

Have you tried the different sound kexts in EDP?

    Cheers!

Re-install a new partition(BTW: previously ML was installed/updated on a OS X Snow Leopard) and everything works except when updated to the latest EDP - blackscreen problem. Found the solution here:

    https://osxlatitude.com/index.php?/topic/897-d830-nvidia-black-screen-after-update-solved/

After I unzip, rename the file, insert it to Extra folder, reboot, I had better days after this. :-) yeehaa!

My wish list for the D830 nvidia process is - when installing EDP, it would detect the OS, if OS is ML then install this file. Santa please do this, I promise to be nice!

    Thanks to this.

  12. Here is what I did. I replaced the dsdt.aml file in the Extra folder on the myhack usb and installed. I installed ML etc, booted, and ran EDP. EDP replaces the default extra folder so I moved the dsdt.aml from the backup one and put it in the new one. After restart it just bootloops.

I had the same problem on my D830 nvidia ssytem a couple of weeks ago. But in your luck I searched the forum and I find a solution but I forgot where it is now; however I can the DSDT file to fix it (attached). I can confirm that his fix works on mine. You'll have better days after this:-). All you have to do is to unzip, rename the file to DSDT.aml, put it on Extra folder and voila.! BTW, you have to boot on an OS X system somehow to be able to do that; insert your ML disk as a USB drive and put the file. And the rests is easy. Okay, I'm not permitted to upload this, which was done in the first place by the other user, weird! Plan B, I'll try to search for the forum then.

Update, only Admins can attached the file, ? and more ????; but anyway here's the link:

    https://osxlatitude.com/index.php?/topic/897-d830-nvidia-black-screen-after-update-solved/

i just hope that the team update the workflow for D830 nvidia. If the operating system is Mountain Lion, they should put this file in the D830 nvidia bootpacks - to help other users. Just a wish list.

  13. Just wanted to say I love the site. I even have gone hog wild and am buying Dell laptops (3) to make Hackb00kz. One for me, one for my Son the Art Major at UT, and the last for my Ex-Wife and Daughter.

I did buy the more experimental Dells, 6520, 6420, and 6320.

But so far I have 10.7.3 on my 6520 and have most everything working and hope to be getting it all ironed out soon thanks to this awesome site. I will be doing the others soon as well.

Thanks again for being the Harbingers of all thinks OSXLatitude-inal!! :)

At Apple, they have "Geniuses", here we have "Angels" . Joking:-)

    Happy for you, though!

  14. I managed to install ML on D830 using the USB guide and Extra bootpacks. Successful installed ML (yeah!), I was happy for 5 minutes - testing Safari, Software update, AppStore, etc. but then when I installed EDP and installed the desired D830 configuration for my hardware; the item 2 (ApplePS2keyboard.kext) does not work. I have to use a USB keyboard. Configuration 2: Keyboard/Mouse/TrackPad (item 0) -worked, Enable sound item(3 - Voodoo stable) but didn't work. KP.

So, I'm stuck with no audio.

    Help, I need somebody help!

  15. Hello,

I have installed 10.7.4 on Optiplex 755 (with ATI X1300 as a part of the original configuration) according to the guides from this site except I have used Extras from this thread: https://osxlatitude.com/index.php?/topic/1579-lion-1074-on-dell-optiplex-755-with-radeon-x1300-128-mb/page__st__20

According to original post the X1300 was suppose to work right after installation (thanks to Natit.kext) but it didn't. When I checked /S/L/E the Natit.kext wasn't there.

Did I do something wrong? Is there any other way how to install Natit.kext with support for X1300?

Thank you very much for any response

Use KextWizard to import kext(s). You can "google" it, it's a free application.

  16. How do i do this, is this possible without losing any of my data please help, my specs:

    Hp pavillon a1532n

    Intel pentium d820

    Nvidia geforce 7300le

    2GB R

    250 GB

Lightscribe double layer 16x dvd drive

Sorry to disappoint you but, your hardware are not sufficient to install/run Mountain Lion. You probably can try Snow Leopard with legacy kernel.
