  1. I just put in my /E/E into the myHack USB installer and boot.

After that move the /E/E to the installed partition. I disable my E6220 onboard bluetooth and use the 802.11ac wifi bluetooth combo.

Nothing special in the BIOS or other.

    Just like plug and play.

Try to boot with -f -v -x to safe mode for installation and then first post installation boot.

  2. Mine is a fresh installation using the 10.9 app download from Apple Apps store. Create a USB installer using myHack, import the extra for booting/installation, lastly configure and add back the /Extra folder into the 10.9 hard disk partition. My Extra package only has additional 802.11 ac driver and bluetooth 4.0 kext.

    Should work very well.

Now after a full installation of the softwarews, the boot process is very fast.

  3. I have installed from a myHack installer with Extra from my working 10.8.5. I do not have MBR patch for the installer and hence install into an external USB HD formatted under GPT partition. Once I installed, I move back to my E6220 internal SSD as usual.

Now dual boot 10.9 and Windows 7

Attached is my /E/E. Everything works - sound, hdmi and sleep

    Extra.zip

  4. Finger scanner may not actually need a kext, well if it's listed under USB section, it may not. You will however need a soft to use configure your system to use it as a replacement of passwords...

Finger print reader is a broadcom 5880 device. It does show up in the USB device list

  5. First off, thanks to the admin for starting a new topic for me. Second, I know UniB**** has their own forums, but I consider them nearly useless with Dells. The only reason it was mentioned was to reiterate that it was not a normal install, which has taught me a few things. Third, I've already looked over the spec sheets for both the E6220 and the XT3 vigorously, which is how I came to the conclusion that they must be 99% same hardware. The only differences seem to be with the laptop chassis, e.g. swivel screen, and a few hardware features, e.g. fingerprint reader placement, a few extra hardware buttons, etc.

Hopefully someone will find this thread, I'm mostly relying on E6220 users for their feedback in the differences in hardware, e.g. vendor IDs, etc.

As an update, I've backed up my "crap" install and am preparing to do a build based of myHack and EDP5, just to see how far that takes things from scratch, as I may have unintentionally used fixes from both methods. Will be posting again shortly.

Side note, Angry birds is -super- fun with OS X and XT3. Touchscreen is recognized natively as USB HID "DuoSense".

P.S. - Right before aforementioned KP, EDP did manage to drop all the required kexts on my installation, though yes, it wasn't handled properly. I really don't recommend this for novice users, I was just curious it's effect.

I have created a USB installer for E6220 for 10.8.5. It works well for me.

Basically, it uses myHack to create the install and copy the Jake Lo extra packages to the install.

The installed E6220 works excellently and I am waiting for the WWAN card to replace.

  6. Mine automatically detects and display upon logon. Although I'm using an HDMI to DVI connection, I don't think it matters. I'm outputting to a Dell P241H with resolution 1920x1080. I don't know if there's a resolution limit it can support.

I am now pleased to confirm that HDMI works with my latest configuration. With your /Extra packages, I have made it works

I use my LG TV as the HDMI output

  7. Hi

I have tried all USB ports on e6220... also try a few diff brand of USB drive (sandisk, sony, kingston) re-create a few times per usb drive to test all USB drive also test and scan with no error... bios i using the legacy not the uefi thing... i even remove the 3g, wifi, bluetooth, remove ram and using only 4gb, and using another laptop's ram... hardware test all report ok, also have tried on 2 diff hdd drive... disable all additional stuff like esata and so on... bios setting i follow the myhack guide which enable the c-state, etc...

All gives me the same error as ebios read error Controller or device error... worst i cant really find much info on ebios error... most just point me to ebios error, read error which isnt the same as what i get...

my 6220 is using bios A08 is that any issue???

Appreaticate if anyone know what is going on...

One last thing, the keyboard i swap with a 6420, just like the pointing stick... but i saw someone else also did that and no such error so i not sure if its due to the keyboard or not, and there is no keyboard for me to swap back to test it now...

Your notebook is ok. No issue for the hardware. Just the booting process error.

I suspect your myHack and ML App might have error.

I have the same E6220 A08 BIOS, US backlight keyboard with pointing stick, 3G, wifi, bluetooth modules. All except 3G modules not ok.
