  1. When you create a myHack USB stick, it patches OSInstall.mpkg to allow installation of Mac OS X on a drive formatted using the Master Boot Record, so what you do is go into Windows intaller, make two partions: One for Windows and one for OS X. Install WIndows and then boot into OS X usb stick made in myHack and install Mac OS X on the second partition.

I can't boot via USB . I'm using a cd drive. How would I do it Via a CD ?

  2. Unless I'm mistaken, you can't install Windows on a GUID partition, only on an MBR partition. If you're using a GUID partition for Windows, that could explain the "Disk error" message you're getting.

All my dual-boot installation were done on MBR paritions and I always installed Windows first.

Once OS X is installed and Chameleon bootloader installed, I usually lose the Windows installation. To retrieve it, I boot from Windows CD and go to recovery command prompt to reactivate the partition.

I've tried this method but every time I get to the install mac os x screen it's asking me to repartition the whole drive to GUID. If I did this ...it would erase my xp partition.

  3. Dear Digzz,

It is possible to install windows on a gpt partition. You just need to create hybrid mbr using gptsync. Have a look on our guide on dual booting windows and os x above.

    Cheers.

How do I create a hybrid mbr using gptsync ? Do I download a program and do it from snow leopard ?

I've download this file for mac : rEFIt-0.14

I've installed it and I still get disk error when booting.

How would I go to the menu to format the partition to mbr ?

I can't see gptsync in the above guides.

  4. Dear diggs,

I just remembered, there's an easier way to install cham. You can also install chameleon using myhack in the usb installer. Try it.

Further, the /Extra folder created from EDP 2.2 is for lion. You'll need to remove it and use the previous /Extra after you installed os x (if you have any).

Can i know what partition table you're using for your hard disk? Is is mbr or guid?

    Cheers!

Both Partitions are GUID is this right?

  5. Dear digzz,

You just need the chameleon package from the EDP .2.2 package.

However, the easiest way to extract the chameleon package is to install EDP 2.2, copy the Chameleon package to be ran later and then delete the /Extra directory that was created by EDP 2.2.

Just make sure your backup your existing /Extra that was working for your leopard before that as you need to restore it before rebooting.

The other way is to use pacifist to extract the chameleon package.

    Cheers!

I've just installed EDP 2.2 and I'm still getting "Disk Error press any key to restart"

The only way I can osx now is too boot from cd D620SLV1.iso which is my boot disk.

I've also tried to boot the files from the menu and it still comes up with : "Disk Error press any key to restart"

  6. I'm currently having issues with Dual Booting OSX Leopard and XP on my D420.

After install OSX Snow Leopard from a DVD and partitioning it MS-DOS (FAT).

I boot into windows xp via CD .....and select the partition I created then it copies some files to copy over and then it restarts and comes up wit " Disk error "

Can any one help me please ?

  7. Hi Digzz,

I'd recommend you boot to your installer drive, run myFix on your recent install under the myHack utility to get you back to a stable build.

The steps that worked for me were:

    Install SL

Download & install myHack 3.1 (or later)

    Download and run EDP 1.9.2

Download the d420 'bootloader' which is an Extras folder that has all the drivers (kexts) tuned for the d420

Install the bootloader Extras folder by selecting 'Install Extras' from the myHack menu. Select the new volume as the target and then select the Extra folder that you uncompressed from the bootloader file. You can find the bootloaders here: http://www.osxlatitude.com/edp2/bootpack/

As for the network card, you have to have a broadcom. There are a bunch of posts about talking about which ones will work. Note that if you get a 802.11n version, you may have to rebrand it to get the most speed.

    Good luck.

    Thank you for your help...

I've done everything you have stated and it's working fine.

The only issues I'm having now is the ethernet not working.

Also did you manage to re-brand the broadcom 802.11n version with no issues ?

Also would this be compatible with are laptops ?

  8. Let's say this is my first install of OSX Leopard on any PC.

I have 2 issues that I would like help on.

    1. Track pad don't work.

When I first installed Leopard the track pad was working fine it wasn't until I installed EDP Kext Configuration and option : 3 Slices's ApplePS2Controller . After this was installed it stopped working and I had to plug in a USB Mouse.

I've tried to re-install EDP Kext Configuration with a different (Keyboard and mouse configuration) but every-time it installs it crashes the OSX.

    2. No Wifi or ethernet connection.

Do I have to buy a Broadcom Wireless Card ? If so Which one do I have to buy ?
