  1. Yes, the fan cable is properly connected, it is spinning "normally", very fast during boot, slowing down after a few minutes.

HWmonitor indicates normal temps (under 65°). During troubleshooting I did check how was thermal paste on the cpu. It's fine (a very tin layer covering all the surface of the cpu). The problem is probably heatsink related (for north and south bridges). I'll order a set of differents copper shims and make some tests. I'll let you know.

Thank U very much for the reply.

  2. Thank U for the information.
I was not sure about a relation between lack of pad and shutdowns because the fan should normaly speen very fast before it shutdowns (it is not the case, I wonder why?).

I don't have the pad anymore, it felt into pieces, dust, during removal of the heatsink. I have to buy a new one (is a copper shim a better solution?) and I would like to have the dimension of this pad, or a reference, if possible.

  3. Hello,

I have changed the fan of my D630. Everything went fine but now when I start the machine, it is booting alright but doing a hard shutdown after approximately 15 minutes of use if I start the system (Maverick) and 5 minutes if I just enter the bios. I used K5-PRO thermo pasta on the cpu and on one bridge (south one I think), and after checking again I could see that the pasta is well spread around the cpu but not so well around south bridge. I have followed the right procedure to fix the heat sink (1-2-3-4). Still it is crashing.

Might it be related to the fact that I replaced the pad on the south bridge with thermo pasta? If yes, could someone tell me which pad should I buy to replaced it?

    Thanks

  4. Yes, you are right, IDA is enabled, but it does not affect the behavior and it helps to keep temps a bit lower.

I did not changed the settings of CPUSensors plugin's .plist file, it was already set on "100".

Anyway, I did myfix again and changed IDA settings.

The result is the same (CPU=66° - GPU=77° IDLE). I changed the value to "0" in order to troubleshoot, ran myfix (always using "full"), but te result is exactly the same.

It is not very important because the real temps are like before, it is just strange.

  5. Hello guys,

    Thanks for all your answers.

I have edited the cpusensors plugin's plist and I have the value "100" for Tjmax.

    <key>PlatformString</key>

    <string></string>
    <key>Tjmax</key>
    <integer>100</integer>

Still, HWmonitor is giving wrong temps (74° for GPU and 68° for CPU (idle), Cpu multiplier is "x3" or "546 Mhz").
I have replace the thermo pasta a few month ago and real temperatures are very low (fan is spinning at the lowest speed). so for sure, HWmonitor is not indicating the real temps. HWmonitor version is 6.11.1328 but I have not found the way the discover what is Fakesmc version?
    Any idea?
  6. Hello,

I have succesfully installed Mavericks on my D630-Nvidia. I have used EDP to install kext and others.

Myfix was stuck (wrong answer when waiting for "Yes" or "No"), so I did it manually via the application.

After reboot, everything was working fine except for HWMonitor which displayed very high temps for CPU and GPU (above 95º celsius). I did a update of the HWMonitor and after reboot, the temp is still very high (around 70º). Under Lion, the temp was around 45º in the same condition.

Could it be related to cpu being always at the highest frequency? I used to have an app to control the cpu rate under Lion. Is still available for Mavericks? I have not found it under EDP.

    Anyone to help me out?

  7. I have installed the last version of Myhack-tools and E.D.P. 3 and the black screen is gone.

I still have a few problem with the trackpad but I'll put the info in the E.D.P. 3 install forum.

    Cheers

    My config is : D 630 - nvidia GC - intel 3945 wifi - 4 GB ram - Proc. Intel T7250

  8. Hello,

I have exactly the same problem as detailled in the first post except that sound is working. I 'd like to get rid of the blackscreen coming, from time to time, in place of the login screen since I have updated my D630 nvidia to 10.7.3.

If it is dsdt related, where can I find a good one?

Trevorcop, could you pass me your dsdt (ssdt?) and extensions folder so I can make a test? Thanks

I have already tryed to replace AppleAHCIPlatform.kext with the one from 10.7.1 but it is not solving the problem.
