Snow Leopard on AMD-based Dell Optiplex 740

1st) Optiplex 740 enhanced

       AMD Athlon 64x2 dual core 5200+

       2.7Ghz

       3Gb ram

       Nvidia GeForce 6150LE

       Broadcom NetXtreme 57xx Gigabit Controller

 

2nd) I've got SL 10.6.3 up and running using ModCD+legacy_kernel-10.3.0.pkg + SL DVD

 

Ethernet isn't working, but I am able to get online using a wireless LAN

17" Dell monitor is stuck at 1024x768

Tried updating to 10.6.8 using the legacy_kernel-10.6.8.pkg + MacOSXUpdCombo10.6.8, but when it went to boot I got stalled out at the Grey Apple screen, went back to 10.6.3

 

Now in doing my research I'm seeing that there is a org.chameleon.Boot.plist in the Extras folder, weeeeeellllll I've found that I don't have this file.  Should the ModCD have put this file in??  I'm also reading that people used MyHack as part as there boot, but I didn't see that I needed this.  Did I miss a step, but still have a good booting system??
