Yes, I did follow that guide. I'm going to try Sierra instead.

I followed the instructions from the guide pretty much to the letter from an os x yosemite virtual machine. I can get to Enoch, enter boot flags, and then it goes to the black-on-white booting screen, and gives a lot of errors, then hangs. The errors it's giving me include "Could not read path: path = /Library/LaunchDaemons", "can't get kextd port", and some other stuff. Here is a link to a video of it booting. Thanks!
