Well, I put the hard drive back inside the computer, and everything seems to work fine.

Well, reboot worked after one restart after kernel panic. Awesome.

So reinstallation and setup went fine. Installing EDP also worked. However, the only way I got this to work was to connect the internal hard drive externally, via USB. I'm afraid to turn the computer off because like the last successful install, it might not turn on again. I'd also like to return the hard drive to the hard drive bay, but I'm afraid it won't boot at all in that case. Any suggestions?

I've reinstalled the OS, but now when I boot it to go to setup, the screen goes dark where the first setup screen should be. It seems like it's booting all the drivers correctly.

Dell Precision M4300 Intel Cre 2 Duo Processor 2.40 GHz 2GB RAM 250GB HD Quadro FX 360M video card The install method I used was myHack plus the extra kexts provided by osxlatitude on the compatibility page. I think it uses Chameleon as a boot loader. To install, I followed the instructions provided by this website. Creating the bootable USB disk went without error. Installation went without error. Setup went without error. After setup, I successfully booted into Mac OS X and installed EDP, but I couldn't start the program. I booted it up this morning, and the system keeps on hanging at random places. Sometimes it manages to get through, but then the display goes black and doesn't seem to do anything. Anyways, I've wiped the hard drive and am starting from scratch now. Some weird observation I've made is that when I boot up from the USB drive with the hard drive in the computer, it can't make it to the first page of the install screen. However, when I take out the hard drive, it boots to the first page without problem. It also boots up correctly when I attach this hard drive via a USB port.

Hi, I'm relatively new to this whole Hackintosh business, but I have a few questions about booting. First, how often is it the case that during startup, the system hangs, and you have to restart? Second, why does the system hang in different places? Third, a question not relevant to booting, I can't seem to start the EDP program to connect to the server. What can I do about this?
