  1. I did in fact use retail versions for 10.7 as well as 10.6. Sorry if that wasn't clear.
  2. I've tried many a thing, but all to no avail. I've decided to try installing OS X 10.6 instead, according to these instructions again, simply with a different image and bootpack. However, when booting from it, it told me that "Mac OS X cannot be installed on this system" and instead offered me to recover from a Time Machine backup, or to restart. Are the instructions different when trying to install OS X 10.6?
  3. Here is the version.plist inside /Extra/Extensions/AppleACPIPlatform.kext/Contents/. It says version=1.0, but it also says 1.3.5. It seems like it's the correct one. By the way, there's also an ExtraBackups folder on the stick. Does that sound correct?
  4. Nope, no dice. I've disabled Wi-fi, then tried booting into the HDD using the USB stick, as well as completely reinstalling with wi-fi disabled and then booting into the HDD the same way, but it all results in the same error. It hangs at "Resetting IOCatalogue."
  5. The processor type is Intel® Core2 Duo processor. The ID is 06FD. The Wi-Fi device is Intel Wireless, but that shouldn't be reason why the whole system can't install, right?
  6. Well, I've updated the BIOS, but to no avail. I get exactly the same errors as last time.
  7. It was a 10.7.4 image. I'll try installing 10.7.2. I have bios version A07, released on 2008-5-16. The latest version is A09, released on 2010-1-22. I'll only flash my BIOS if everything else won't work. In case it's needed: the site doesn't list anything newer than Windows XP as a supported platform to run the .exe on. Would it be wise to install from Windows 7 or 8 anyway? Also, just wondering: why exactly does the BIOS version matter?
  8. Alright, I'm one step further, but still no dice. Here's what I did: Well, I got as far as point 6. In the Chameleon installer, I used the newest revision, not 2248, but it should be fine. The installation seemed to work as well, and it rebooted automatically, but when I tried to boot from the HDD using the Chameleon that was on the stick, it took a while and then I got the following errors: It got stuck at nstat_lookup_entry_failed: 2 for quite a while before the last line appeared. It stayed stuck on that line. Anyone?
  9. Nope. I lent a friend's Macbook Air 4,2 to do this. Program-wise, I'm using myHack-3.2-BETA-8.dmg that was linked to.
  10. It still isn't working for me. After the installer asks me if I want to remove certain modules that result in kernel panics, it continues for a few more minutes, then it says that the installer could not finish. I've tried it twice, and this is what happened both times. The first time, I installed the new bootpack you provided directly after doing what I said I did in the previous post, without formatting first. The second time, I started formatted the stick, created the USB installation disk, installed the extras from the new bootpack in your attachment, and booted from that directly without replacing Chameleon. Here's the error log for the second try. The log of the first try was corrupted and could not be recovered. Hopefully, this is enough. I'm going to retry tomorrow. Was I supposed to install the new version of Chameleon as well? And replace the boot file? In what order should I do things?
  11. I reformatted the stick, then used myHack to make it a 10.7 installation device, then installed the bootloader using "Chameleon-2.2svn-r2254.pkg.zip" from the link you've provided, then I installed the extras using myHack again, and I booted from that. It resulted in the following screen: After that, I've tried replacing the boot file with the one Leon provided on the same stick (without redoing any other steps), but it gave the same results.
  12. Replacing the boot file is the same as updating chameleon? Because I have done that, and now it gets stuck at a gray window with a red-blue-green spinning disk at the top left corner of the screen. It takes about a minute to get there. EDIT: what I've tried next is creating the installer using myHack, then replacing the boot file with the one you've provided, then installing the extras. This resulted in the following error immediately when booting from the USB stick: boot0:GPT boot0:done boot1: error
  13. Hello, I have tried installing OS X Lion (10.7) on my Latitude D430 following the regular instructions provided here. The file I used to prepare the USB stick with MyHack was "Mac OS X Install ESD.dmg". Additionally, I configured my BIOS according to these instructions. After installing the correct bootpack, I booted from the USB stick and I got the following errors: Anyone got an idea?
