  1. I just had a look at this on my D420. Here is a summary of what functions/behaviour I have.

After restart the brightness is at about 80%.

The slider in Display Prefs will take the LCD up to full brightness and down to "dim", but not off as in my MacBook Pro.

The FN key works with both the F5/F12 and the up/down arrow keys to control the brightness.

The on screen HUD appears whenever any of the brightness controls are used.

Hope this is of some use. If you need my updated DSDT since BIOS update let me know.

    Cheers

  2. Hey,

D420 is allready tested, so for your part.. update your bios, and wait for the 1.5rc5 release before updating to 10.6.6 if you want to be on the safe side :)

    D420 and D430 are 99,9% alike...

Ok will do.. You're right I need to sort that BIOS next job. Cheers.

  3. Hi Everyone,

Please go here and have a look:

You will now see a list of certified laptops + their status.

I need people to test EDP 1.5 RC5 - catch me on skype since i dont wanna release it public just yet.

Hi Leon. I'll give 1.5 a test on my 420 if you like but I still haven't got round to updating the BIOS, still A03, not sure if that will matter as everything has been fine so far. I'm away this weekend so won't be able to report back until Monday

  4. Sinjon, could you upgrade your bios to the latest version ?

Heating, did you choose the "power package" durring build ?

Another bug seems to be related to speedstep.. when you unplug the power cord and replug it, it steps down in speed.. but not back up....

    Hi Leon

I've been putting off the BIOS upgrade for ages as everything seemed ok but it looks like I need to bite the bullet. I'll do it over the next few days and let you know the outcome. Any recommendation for best method? I have the Dell double USB DVD drive if that's needed.

I'm pretty sure I chose the "power package" but I'll run it again to make sure

    Thanks

  5. Couple of things that may be worth flagging up since installing rc4.

The menu bar battery info shows power source as adaptor even when not plugged in. Not sure if this was an issue before, I don't remember seeing it.

Since the update the computer seems to be running very hot. Currently the cores are 72/69, it used to be in the mid to high 50's. I have Coolbook installed and set to 50 but it seems to have no effect. The only app running right now is Safari and no flash.

  6. Downloaded rc4 and installed tonight. So far no issues to report, everything working as expected. Maxxed the ram to 2.5gb today so hard to tell if the update has any speed benefit as the machine is running faster now anyway. Will report back if anything untoward crops up but so far looking good. Thanks guys.
