Sorry about the incomplete ioreg and system log. Have replaced them with complete ones.  Just for completeness, note that the IOgear 521 works without any issues, so the problem is just with the ASUS BT-400 which doesn't appear to be recognized.

Great contribution on the bluetooth. We all appreciate it. However, perhaps I'm still missing a step in implementing this. I have an Asus BT-400 with pid=6091 and vid=2821, installed v 2.3 in /S/L/E but the BT-400 is not recognized. I assumed it isn't necessary to modify the info.plist as the pid and vid are included. In addition, the system is built with the Gigabyte Z77-DS3H MB with UEFI F11 beta bios. Tnx in advance. 

So I've got the E6330 up&running on 10.8.5. Some questions regarding:

 

* Do I need a Dell rebranded Wifi card? Ordered an Atheros AR5BHB92 AR9280 in a heartbeat last night on ebay, but I could have jumped the gun

* The E6330 is somewhat battery hungry but I'm not picking up any unusual processes in the activity monitor. Any pointers on that one?

I replaced the stock wifi card from Dell (an Intel Centrino Advanced N6205, Model 62205ANIHMW) with an Atheros, and it works perfectly on 10.9 (also had it running with 10.8.5 before I moved to 10.9). So, I suspect the AR5BHB92 will work just fine.

 

Don't know about the battery issue, as for the most part, I've been running it attached to the docking station.

As I'm using the latest multifail (for Mavericks), My bootloader is chimera (chameleon, stolen and rebranded) with laptop Hibernate mode

I have the smart card and finger print reader on my E6330.

But, I haven't tried to use any, and as I don't have any smart cards I cannot tell you if it works or not.

I think it is picked up by Mountain Lion though(device 0x5801, unless that is something else?).

 

Interesting you have gotten Mavericks running good Gary, I have struggled with myHack.

May try the other methods, what are you using for audio? VoodooHDA?

The Latitude e6330 I have has bios A01, and doesn't have a smartcard reader, so can't provide feedback to your question. In addition, I moved to Mavericks and boot with chimera (chameleon, stolen and rebranded). Everything is stock from multifail and the e6330 works 99.5% as it should. Use an external and laptop displays, and both work properly. No longer need to disconnect the external display when booting. The only thing that I've never gotten to work properly is the trackpad on the laptop, but for me that isn't an issue as I use an Apple Magic Trackpad (with a usb iogear bluetooth.

PS: Can confirm BIOS A11 is working.

What do you have in your E/E folder?

What error do you encounter if you boot with -v?

You need to remove all HDA kext, just include voodooHDA (2.8.2) and AppleHDADisabler, run myfix/full and you should get audio.

Tried that, but no joy. I use MB, so no E/E. Also notice during the boot that there appear to be many errors reading SMC, so would assume these are also causing issues, and I suspect HDA kexts are not being loaded. Other forums point out that apple changed the way audio is handled in 10.8.5 (and probably 10.9), BTW, booting in 10.8.4 works perfectly, so it's not really an issue for now. 

Battery is working for me, I have VoodooBattery. Tried running myfix after the upgrade, but couldn't get audio back. Might try using voodooHDA instead.

Likewise, have lost audio (and can only boot in safe mode). Have tried numerous versions of VoodooHDA and AppleHDA / HDAEnabler1, etc.; so far, none work.

I use chimera (chameleon, stolen and rebranded) and multifail so have no /E/E folder. Instead I put the kext in /S/L/E. Perhaps that's why it isn't being seen properly.

Have tried numerous versions of the trackpad drivers without success. You mention that you used v5 on your E6330. Just to make sure I did it correctly, the .kext goes to /S/L/E while the two executables go to /usr/bin/ ?

This may shed some light on the issue. When I boot with the external monitor connected, as I described before, the initial part of the boot screen is on the laptop lcd, but then the external monitor fires up with the logon screen (i.e. becomes the primary display). After logging on, if I manually put the computer to sleep, it starts up again after a few seconds, but this time both monitors start up [as configured in system preferences] with the primary switched back to the laptop lcd and the extended screen on the external monitor. BTW, both wake on usb / wake on LAN are disabled in bios.

I haven't seen that before. Whenever booting my laptop, I have my mini HDMI->HDMI lead plugged in and both monitors work.

My HDMI cable then plugs into a HDMI->DVI convertor.

 

Normally, both during boot, and hot plugging my external and my laptop LCD work fine.

 

Although, this morning, I booted up with the cables plugged in, and the laptop recognised the external monitor, but it didn't switch on.

Unplugging and plugging the HDMI cable fixed it though.

Hi Andy,

Injected EDID into the dsdt and now I don't have to push the power button when it goes into sleep at boot, but otherwise behavior is the same. Upon booting, it initially goes into sleep for a few seconds, and now comes back to life with the logon screen. After booting, going into sleep manually produces the same scenario. After a few seconds it starts up again. However, shutdown does work. Also, the issues with the monitors remains the same. If the external is connected at boot, it's the only one seen. If connected after the logon screen, both are seen.

 

Any caveats with regard to the bios settings (other than of course AHCI) that might cause this? 

Has anyone had issues with the E6330 lcd not working if an external monitor is connected during the boot? If I boot with it connected, I see only the external dvi-d monitor. If I boot with it not connected and re-connect it after booting, I have both monitors and can toggle extended display or mirror the laptop lcd. LCD resolution is 1366x768 for lcd and 1920x1080 for external.
