Did you try this Mavericks guide? I honestly can't see how you could possibly go wrong with myHack + Mavericks, assuming you've got the right OS X installation app of course, not some torrent download...
Hello Hervé,
tried your guide but got also problems with CPU.
See picture.

Hello,
i tried to make a bootable stick with Mavericks and got CPU failures and i tried to make a bootable Yosemite stick with this guide and the guide linked there but it doen't work too.
There will be no bootloder found or no bootable system found on the stick........
Am i too stupid for that Hackintosh thing or my Dell 6420 is not willing to be a Hackintosh......
I spend too much hours for that and no success.......

Hello,
i think so.......
But the CPU failures.......?
Could this be a driver (kext) problem or is there something wrong with the Laptop?
Windows 7 worked without problems.

I formated it as Apple Mac OS Extended Journaled with MBR.
I boot up with -v and got some CPU failures while booting.

Jolly Roger,
did you try the bootloader with "-v" as I wrote in post #14 ?
On my Dell it doesn't matter which USB Port I use but I got a Special 6420 package from Jake Loo for my i5 System with Post #13.
Good luck...
Lars
Hello Lars,
i tried an other USB stick and tried it with also with "-v" but got same failures at booting.
Then i tried your Extra_I5 drivers and got:
EB OS read error: Controller or device error
Bock 0xacc08 Sector 0

Hello Herve,
will try this.
Thanks.
After making the Mavericks system on the stick i take the e6420 drivers as described in the first post, right?
@ Jake Lo
I have reseted the Bios to Default Settings and make the extra choice of the AHCI setting.

same problem.....

Re-install your bootloader and try again. Then, try and repartition and/or reformat your USB key. Please note that some keys do not like GUID/GPT partition scheme (I experienced this myself with a couple of cheapo 32Go keys). If you're using GUID scheme, try FAT/FAT32 and vice versa. If you still do not succeed, try a different key. An 8Go USB key from a respectable manufacturer really cost pennies these days.

Hi Nolen,
your HowTo was exactly the one I was looking for as I am new here. Thank you very much for this.
I have followed successfully all steps to create the boot medium.
Only at Step 6 I was not able to pick the zip file as only folders (Step 7) are allowed if I am right.
My system, an unmodified Latitude E6420 with i5-2540M, 8GB RAM and Bios A21, boots legacy from my prepared USB Stick.
But I get the following message after the boot screen disappears:
EBIOS read error: Controller or device error Block 0x1d0798 Sector 0 EBIOS read error: Controller or device error Block 0x1d0798 Sector 0 EBIOS read error: Controller or device error Block 0x1d0798 Sector 0 EBIOS read error: Controller or device error Block 0x1d0798 Sector 0
I have tried to get more infomation with the -v flag.
Much pages are shown. Finally the systems stops with (handcopied):
... SMC::smcInitHelper ERROR: MMIO regMap == NULL - fall back to old SMC Mode **** [IOBluetoothHostControlller ... completetd ... I am a complete newbie building OSX on a Hardware System, I only had few virtual OSX's (10.6 & 10.9) running until now.
I have used 10.6 to build the USB Stick.
All BIOS Settings are set to back default, only UEFI is active.
CPU XD Support is switched on.
Maybe someone has an Idea how to fix the issue as I like the idea to get OSX on my Laptop
Thx
Lars
P.S. Sorry for my bad english
