  2. Hi, After spending the best part of 2 whole days tinkering and playing around with my D630, I finally managed to get Lion 10.7.4 Fully working. If you follow my quide EXACTLY it will work, and you will be rewarded with a very nice little hackintosh laptop. You will Need: 8GB USB Flash Drive 512MB or higher USB Flash Drive Your purchased Lion Install App A D630 with Nvidia Graphics Alot of patience and persistence Some free time A USB Keyboard and mouse D630 Charger Access to a working Mac So, Lets begin: Making your Installation USB Drive: 1. Download MyHack 2. Follow the prompts in MyHack to create your 10.7 installation media. 3. Once it has done, dont remove the USB Drive. 4. Download the Bootpack attached to this post and rename it Extra. 5. Replace the Extra folder in the USB Drive with the one you just downloaded. 6. If you have lower than 2GB ram then replace OSInstall.mpkg on your Installation Drive. 7. Your Install Drive is now ready to go. Creating your Second USB Drive: 1. Simply copy the files I have attached in this post to the drive: Extra IO80211Family.kext SleepEnabler.kext PCI Configuration Begin Fix 2. Thats all the USB Drives done, now head over to your D630! Installing 10.7 Lion on your D630: 1. Boot from your Install USB Drive, and Use disk utility to make a Partition for OS X. 2. Continue and click install. 3. When myHack asks which extra folder to use, click use my own. 4. Point myhack in the direction of your second USB drive Extra folder and click ok. 5. Remove both kexts when it asks. 6. When it says installation finished quickly go to Utilities>MyHack before the timer counts down. 7. If you miss this just boot into your USB Install Drive again. 8 Select run Myfix 9 Be sure to select run Myfix Full (NOT QUICK NEVER USE QUICK) 10. Once it is done, remove all things plugged into D630, and reboot. 11. Cross your fingers and wait for the Lion to boot up. 12. Plug in your USB Keyboard and Mouse and follow the guide until you get to the desktop. Installing EDP: 1. Download EDP 2.2 2. Install EDP 2.2 3. Go to your installation drive>extra> and run edp.command 4. Choose Number 1>7 for D630> 1 for apple PS2 Driver>No to both next questions> Enter to install 5. It may KP after the Install has finished, this is normal and is because it has just discovered the PS2 mouse and keyboard. 6. Do a manual restart and boot back into Lion. Installing 10.7.4 Update: 1. Download combo update from Apple website NOT software update 2. Install Update - DO NOT RESTART ONCE FINISHED 3. Go to Hard Drive>System>Library>Extensions and replace both kexts with the ones found in PCI Configuration Begin Fix 4. Run myHack and do a myfix full again. 5. Restart and boot into 10.7.4! Getting Wifi and Sleep back: 1. Run edp again after update if required. 2. Install the modified IO80211Family.kext provided with any kext installer. 3. Reboot, you should now have wifi working fine. 4. Install the modified Sleepenabler.kext for 10.7.4 (dont use any other than the one provided as it will cause instant KP. 5. Reboot (Run myFix again if needed) 6. You now have a Dell D630 with some Attitude! 7. Enjoy Lion!!!!! Remember to ALWAYS remove sleepanbler.kext before and major system update. The D630 can run Mountain Lion due to the Nvidia Graphics, The installation method should be pretty similar to this - I havent tried it yet though Abbreviations: KP -Kernel Panic EDP - Extra Driver Package Thanks for all the help from the forum, would appreciate it if an admin pinned this thread! Happy Hackintoshing! Seb Other Stuff.zip PCI Confriguration Begin.zip Extra.zip Extra - Bootpack.zip
  3. Just managed to get it to work. I found out that when updating past 10.7.3 (i was updating to 10.7.4) the IO80211Family.kext gets modified/ deleted in my case. I had to get a original version of the kext and install it and the wifi works flawlessly again. What are the benfits of rebranding the Wifi card anyway? Seb
  4. Just updated to 10.7.4. It then would hang on PCI Configuration Begin. I managed to fix that by replacing a few kexts in Library Extensions. It then booted fine but I have lost wifi. Do I need to rebrand the card? I started a new topic asking about it. Thanks, Seb
  5. I took a look inside, and the laptop does have the new style of heatsink with the copper block on the GPU. Before I installed OS X it came with vista and I noticed the Nvidia card never really got above 65C. Is that too high? I thaught it was ok. Thanks, Seb
  6. So I just managed to install Lion. With 10.7.0 wifi works flawlessly, but once I had updated to 10.7.4 wifi suddenly disappeared. How can I get it back? Do I need to rebrand the card as a Airport Extreme for it to work again? The card is ` Dell 1390. Thanks, Seb
  7. yes you could add this - I had to slightly modify the bootpack provided here to get lion to boot without a KP. All I had to do was delete VoodooHDA, then select use your own extra folder during setup. Point it towards the modified bootpack, and wait for it to finish. It then boots fine, without freezing. I then plugged in a usb keyboard and mouse for the initial setup. I downloaded EDP 2.2 and configured it for my model, easy. I rebooted. The first time you reboot after EDP install, it hangs on PCI Configuration Begin. To get past this, simply hold down the power button and do a manual restart. It then loads up with everything working. To get sleep wokring I just installed sleepenable.kext. Thanks, Seb
  8. Problem solved!!!!!! I now have lion working, wifi battery, screen, graphics, sound, trackpoint, trackpad, keyboard and sleep with sleepenabler.kext. Works wonderfully, I am going to write a tutorial/video on the install process as I dont think its covered in much detail on here. Thanks again, Seb
  9. Hi, I did EXACTLY as you said, and it KP's on boot. Here are a few things I picked out from the KP that might help: error: failed to open PCI device panic Kernel extensions in backtrace: VoodooHDA dependency: IOAudioFamily dependency: IOPCIFamily Thanks for the help so far! Seb
  10. Hi, just got my D630 and have been trying for the last 6 hours to install Lion. I managed to apply the bootpack, and install lion. I used myhack, and during install chose generic extra folder. I then reboot and it boots up lion. It then hangs/ freezes either while loading or during initial setup - most annoying! I have tried different extra folders but they give me KP. Which extra folder do I use of a D630 Nvidia, and how do I stop the freezing? Help much appreciated! Seb
  11. Thanks alot for the advice! I decided to get the D630 and risk it. I reckon if I make sure the temps are low but speeding the fans up it should last long enough hopefully. I already have a netbook with GMA 950 graphics like the D620, and they are unbelivebly slow. I did some research and the Nvidia Quadro is about triple as fast as the intel. Also as I do lots of CAD design, and the Nvidia chip is designed for that hopefully it will work well. Its coming tomorrow - cant wait! Also it says on the spec pdf that the max memory supported is 4GB however I saw one being sold with 8GB could that be possible? Has anyone managed 8GB in the Laptop? Thanks, Seb
  12. Hi, I am getting a dell latitude to make into a hackintosh tomorrow. I am getting it to run Lion, I cannot use snow leopard. I have seen better compatibility with the D620, but the better performance persuades me to buy a D630. I was going to get the D630 with the Nvidia Quadro as I will be doing alot of 3D CAD, etc. I heard many laptops failed with these chips. Which one works with Lion best? Will the Nvidia chip in the D630 fail even if I update the BIOS to A12? Is there much of a performance improvement withe the D630? Help much appreciated!!! Thanks Seb
