So I went from trying to get QE/CI working on 10.9.3 and then recreated a boot stick with 10.10.1 and applied this > http://www.tonycrapx86.com/yosemite-laptop-support/145427-fix-intel-hd4400-hd4600-mobile-yosemite.html. I can verify that on my HD4400 gfx all artifacting is gone (after following the "Fix for graphic issues" link in the post and applying the patch. Really excited this works now. Even the 1080p touchscreen works. Also if anyone was wondering, I am running the mSATA SSD where the WWAN module originally was and now have an open SATA bay, so I would expect that you could run 2 drives at once (maybe a 1 TB ). I figure this was already known but in case anyone had any doubts about OS X 10.10.1 compatibility. Seems like virtually everything works except the following: 1) multitouch -- which I assume can be fixed by this, have not tried yet > https://osxlatitude.com/index.php?/topic/2545-new-touchpad-driver-for-e6520-alps/ 2) I can reconfirm that the keyboard keys stick occasionally as previously mentioned, as if you're still holding a key. Also FN + F3 is brightness down and FN+Insert is brightness up. Is there a way to remap this? 3) Audio -- seems to work on initial boot about 50% of the time but does not come back after sleep. I have built my own DSDT.aml as described in this guide and also used the one provided by Jake Lo and various other people and that seems to have no effect either. Running BIOS version A10 (looks like they pulled A11) Does anyone see anything I'm missing here? (I own a i5-4300u cpu)

I don't think the fingerprint reader will ever work, especially since not all 7440s have it (like mine doesn't) and Apple has no PCs on the market to the best of my knowledge that use a biometric fingerprint reader (excluding the 5 and 6 which is different tech I believe). 2FA is more secure anyway so if you have a phone, you'd be better off with that + drive encryption or even maybe a HDD password on boot.

Has anyone checked to see if we got QE/CI back in 10.9.5 with HD4400 drivers?

As I said before, we're still SOL for the 4400 HD graphics, if we want hardware acceleration. There are no Vanilla drivers provided by Apple It has nothing to do with the display; it's a known issue. We have 4400 HD basic support here obviously, but no hardware acceleration. It says that in order to get QE/CI, we have to patch the kext.

Unfortunately I'm still hung up on the HD4400 hw acceleration.. after some further research it seems we're missing a kext, even though I think our DSDT is patched correctly. Because the vanilla drivers aren't supporting the 4400HD, I wonder how far one could get with this as far as getting graphics hw acceleration. And actually looking at Apple's product line right now, I don't see them supporting it if their base MBA is already Intel 5000. There is the MacBook Pro 13" w/ Intel HD graphics 4000 but it will probably 1) go legacy soon or 2) get upgraded to HD 5000...

Thanks! Looks like I have an AR9485 wireless network adapter. If it's not compatible, I have one from an HP Probook that I know worked with OS X when I had a Probook.

That's good to know that I'm not the only one. Honestly I would rather wait until 10.9.4 is considered stable w/ new graphics kexts, or even wait for 10.9.5 rather than having to download Mavericks ver. 10.9.3 and do it all again. What is the easiest way to tell which WiFi module I have? I no longer have Windows installed and the BIOS doesn't seem to give me anything. FYI Ethernet and sleep seem to be working OK.

I accidentally installed 10.9.4 somehow instead of 10.9.3.. it seems like most everything works, but there are a few lingering problems: Wifi doesn't work (no option to connect, no wifi icon on top right, etc) White noise/static through headphone jack (I think this is known) ALPS trackpad mildly twitchy (I think this is also known) Graphical glitches - Everything seems to be in 16 bit color instead of full 32. Also artifacting when scrolling. I noticed when I was installing 10.9, during the setup process, as soon as it booted to the menu that included "install os x, disk utility, etc" it would be impossible to read due to smeared text across the center of the screen, although if I closed the notebook and it shut the screen off and I opened it back up, everything was cleared up and it worked fine. If I click on launchpad, the animation is like 2 frames. It seems like there is no graphic acceleration enabled. I have installed the 4400 vid driver and I have the i5 (I think 4300U). I believe I followed every step to the letter. Everything else seems to work thus far (haven't tested LAN). Excellent guide. NOTE: Running bios ver. A08

@pokenguyen Is there an ideal BIOS version? I want to know before I update. What BIOS ver. are you using? I am on A04. Have not attempted to install OS X yet.

This site seems to have come out of nowhere since I checked on the hackintosh world last. Excellent job guys. There seems to be a lot of great stuff going on here. I have a 7440 w/ i7 but I have a model that has a FHD --touchscreen-- and backlit keyboard. I'm not expecting these to work or anything but would they interfere with creating a functional build? How stable would you rate your build, Poke? As far as odd things like audio compatibility and kernel panics.
