I've been trying High Sierra on my laptop with the same bootpack as I use for Sierra. Everything seems to work except for the touchpad. But there is a very strange problem. Upon booting the system turns brightness to zero. The only way to see anything is to press Fn+F3 and then Fn+Up. I don't know why, but that's how it works. And after that it switches to zero by itself every 20 seconds. I've already seen the same issue on Sierra few times, but I fixed it with reboot. This time reboot doesn't help. I tried my backup Sierra to make sure it's not a hardware problem. I also checked the power saving setting. Have you guys encountered something like that? How do I even diagnose it?

The problem I mentioned above is not related to VoodooHDA and was caused by an application called BackgroundMusic. After fully uninstalling it everything works fine. I hope it will save hours of googling for someone.

I wonder if some of you guys have managed to solve the issues with patched AppleHDA. I used VoodooHDA for months, but after updating to 10.12.4 and further it sometimes stops working permanently, requiring reboot and crashing some applications. So I switched back to AppleHDA, because I can restore its functionality by putting it to sleep one more time. Still, it's very annoying, and it's the only problem I have with my hackintosh.

Yep, I can confirm it, the latest VoodooHDA doesn't seem to have any issues. Though I can't check if it forwards audio through HDMI. I also noticed that it gives better sound than the patched AppleHDA. Perhaps it's subjective, but AppleHDA produced some minor distortions from time to me. I don't hear them anymore.

Yes, I have both of them, and I always use Kext Wizard to repair permissions and rebuild the kernel cache. I guess I will try my luck with VoodooHDA, it served me well with my old Asus.

Unfortunately after installing EAPDFix audio doesn't work at all when the laptop wakes up.

Hi. To make audio work I used the kexts from this guide (although I use Clover, but the idea is the same). CodecCommander, patched AppleHDA and AppleHDA_IDT. It works fine, but if at some point I plug in my headphones, the next time the laptop wakes up it doesn't forward audio to the speakers but rather uses Line-out. Headphones work, if I plug them in again, and when I plug them out the speakers start working. Does this issue sound familiar to anyone? How do I diagnose (and possibly fix) it?

I just solved it all thanks to you! As far as I understand, my config.plist takes care of renaming, so I just copied the UsbInjectAll and Fakepciid kexts to my Clover folder, and now the webcam and the 3rd USB port both work perfectly. Thank you all again, every issue is fixed now. This forum is amazing.

Thanks for the tip. I just tried it with the E6530_HD4000_Only.zip bootpack, it seems like the blinking has stopped. Though I noticed few other problems, and they're common for all three DSDTs I've tried so far (including my native DSDT without patches I extracted with Clover). First, the webcam doesn't work. It's weird, because I remember that it definitely worked few days ago when I tried to install Sierra. I specifically checked it during account setup. Second, one of 3 USB ports doesn't work. I added PCIID_XHCIMux kext to my Clover, as you noted in your guide, but it didn't help. And the third one is really minor. I got native brightness control, but only for decreasing (Fn+F3 instead of Fn+Down as marked on my keyboard). I didn't manage to find the other combination for increasing brightness. In my DSDT I have the same value for PNLF device _UID as you mentioned in your guide. Does it work for you? If so, what keys are dedicated for it on your keyboard?

Jake Lo All the DSDTs for E6430 I found so far are related to models with either an Nvidia card or the 1600x900 resolution. Though it's not really a big problem, something I can live with.

I'm sorry, I couldn't help myself and tried Jake Lo's guide with the E6230_A11 boot pack. It works almost perfectly, I couldn't wish more. Though there is a tiny issue with sleep, or rather two different issues. First, it seems like when I use the Fn+F1 hotkey, it switches to some other mode, which doesn't work properly (unlike automatic sleep or using the menu option). And the second one is minor, but annoying: after the laptop wakes up, the HDD indicator starts blinking constantly and doesn't stop. It doesn't behave like that before sleep, and I'm pretty sure it's not i/o activity either. Have you encountered such an issue? Otherwise, the system seems to work perfectly. I'm extremely grateful for what you're doing here in this community.
