I think its actually the AR9285 i have. I tried your suggestion but it did nothing. still no wifi, still boots with -v -f.

Maybe I have to do that after a clean install, in case the other kext installations mucked it up? I'm only using kext wizard now, installing to s/l/e.

That should still work. I use "Atheros AR5B95 AR9285 Half WiFi Mini PCI-E Card"

Are you certain you placed the original IO80211Family.kex back in SLE?

If you have a spare HDD, you can always make a clean installation of Yosemite as a trouble shooting step, get it working and merge the kext(s) to your problematic HDD.

Check not only S/L/E but also your /extra folder as well for duplicates of the kexts

toledaARPT.kext.zip

If you are using:  Atheros AR5B95 
put the OOB IO80211Family.kext back. 
 
Use the toledaARPT.kext and reboot.

Good morning.
I usually don't resort to posting but all the searching and EvOreboot fixes don't seem to be helping me here.

My E6420 is running very well now however will not shutdown properly.
The OS terminates normally however the main board power remains alive.
I think I recall it rebooting normally maybe once or twice during the initial installation process.
Now I cant for the life of me get it to shut down or reboot properly from the SSD or USB in normal, safe or ignore cache modes. 
( I am starting to question whether it ever really did shut down or reboot properly )

I feel like I may be missing something simple ie: a conflicting kext needs deletion for EvOreboot to work or my EvOreboot version is not correct for the model?
