Actually none of those options (-x -v -f) work and it still won't get to the login screen.  I now see many lines of text as its loading but in the end it just sits on a line of text and nothing happens (I let it run all night).  I'm hoping I don't have to reinstall using the bootstick because I don't have it anymore.

I've had my D430 working flawlessly for over a year now.  Recently, I had to perform an abrupt, manual shutdown using the power button and I didn't shutdown the usual way using the OS menu.

In any event, I think something is corrupted somewhere because now, when I turn on my laptop, I can't get to the login screen anymore.  It stays stuck on the screen just before you get to the login part where it shows that circle looping but it's stuck there and won't move to the login part.  Iv'e let it run for over an hour hoping it would get past this.  That never happened.

Anyways, I'm pretty sure this is due to something being corrupted since I did that manual shutoff.  Any ideas on how I can fix this?

I did manage to get Lion installed and everything is great except for 1 thing.  Everytime the system comes out of standby (either automatically or I put the screen down), upon waking up I get the "you need to restart" message.

Any ideas why or how I can fix this problem?

ok, that worked great!

I was under the impression that myhack automatically fixed this error and would not be a problem (vs using unifail or crackwalk).  Anyways, it's the standard error after installation and then rebooting (everything right before that went great) that says:

boot0:  GPT

boot0:  test

boot0:  test

boot0:  error

I don't know if this could have something to do with the first time I tried to install, the installation hung right in the middle of using the utilities tool to partition the hard drive.  I ended up having to restart the installation but it bothered me that I had to quit right in the middle of the partition/format.

Not sure if this damaged the drive or something.  The second time around I added an option upon bootup (cpus=1), and that fixed everything (including the laggy mouse), and then completed the partition step and the installation completed successfully.

I ran a diagnostic on my system and it says no errors were found.  Any ideas?

The D430 runs extremely well under Snow Leopard, a tad slower under Lion. Now regarding your performance issue, I'd suggest you look into the BIOS settings. Check for SpeedStep being enabled. When you boot the installer, I'd also advise to interrupt the process and enter boot option "USBBusFix=No"; that often removes Keyboard/Mouse issues with Lion installation.

 

Not having a D430 at hand, I'd be much obliged if you would post the complete list of BIOS settings parameters so that we can advise on best/recommended settings in a similar fashion as what was done for the D620, D630 and D830.

How do you interrupt the process to enter the boot option specified to make the entry (USBBusFix=No)?  I'm having the exact same problem the OP is having with intermittent mouse.  I have pretty much the exact same system specs too.

Is there a way to install OS X 10.7 on a d430 without the usb installation but instead using a burned DVD?  I still want to use your EDP and bootpack but I don't want to use the myhack approach (usb method).  Instead, if possible, I'd like to combine everything and burn it to a DVD as an image instead.

I simply don't have access to a real mack or hackintosh so I'm kind of out of luck.  It seems like it would be possible to do this via dvd however.  I downloaded the .dmg file (approximately 3.6 GB) so this should fit easily on a 1-layer dvd (max 4.7 GB) + chameleon and any other files.
