  1. Looks promising, thanks again!

    I´ll give it a go tomorrow.

    Edit:

    No dice, as too many dependencies are lost, it seems.

    The needed files are here apparently: https://github.com/mbuesch/b43-tools

    However its way above my head to re-brand my WLAN card without a step by step guide for dummies. :)

    Again, the DW 1510 is working as a WLAN card from a third party manufacturer so far.

    Thanks for caring!

  2. Comrades, I´m afraid the whole process is broken. GNU/Linux repos are known for its frequent changes - hence all the compat patches.

    I tried with ubuntu-12.10-desktop-i386.iso but noway.

    Maybe someone is willing and able to create a tarball with all the old stuff...

    Here is where I got stuck:

    mnd.png

    Guess I´ll have to use the BCM4322 as it is for now. I was only 5.20 $ (plus shipping) from China, so what.

  3. Thanks Hervé.

    So you would suggest to try a Ubuntu GNU/Linux flavor from 2013 or 2014?

    I´ll look around for one then, the archive you pointed to is fine, but it does not seem to cover the x86 iso´s or am I missing something?

    Lets hope the dependencies are not dead altogether. ;)

  4. Hi all, I could need a bit help on the above WLAN card.

    This is not a Lenovo issue, but as I´m on a T420, HD3000, 10.11.3 I thought it might fit here.

    I´m aware of the guide here: http://www.osxlatitude.com/rebranding-broadcom-802-11abgn-cards-as-airport-extreme/#respond

    Sadly some dependencies have gone dead it seems, so I´m getting nowhere.

    Could you please update the how-to or guide me through the procedure in another way?

    The B43-FWcutter is in the Ubuntu repository btw.

    lnd.png

    It would like the BCM4322 to use all channels 1-13 and to be recognized as Airport Extreme.

    Thanks!

  5. Ah, I forgot. 1920x1200 is the highest resolution available in Chameleon and the display´s native res.

    Might set it lower, just liked it better that way.

    Edit: I found by coincidence, that the known package from OSX86.Türk is installing 10.8.2 flawlessly on my old rig.

    Though I would have liked to know where I went astray, it does not matter much any more.

    Thanks for your help and care everybody!

  6. After some tries with Champlist:

    GrahpicsEnabler=no: PC starts until the point where Aqua should load and shuts down.

    vbios: An error message shows up telling that vbios could not load, then it runs to the point where Aqua should load and shuts down.

    (I saw this ROM file: http://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/index.php?page=1&architecture=NVIDIA&manufacturer=Asus&model=8800+GT&interface=&memSize=256

    But I don´t know how to call it correctly from the Boot.plist or whether it might be of any use.)

    Chameleon 2.1 is from Conti´s myHack 3.2, the build number escapes me right now.

    What would be the name of such NV framebuffer in 10.8.1? I did not see anything like that in S/L/E.

    Thanks for caring!

  7. This is my boot.plist for 10.8:

    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd">
    <plist version="1.0">
    <dict>
    <key>Graphics Mode</key>
    <string>1920x1200x32</string>
    <key>GraphicsEnabler</key>
    <string>Yes</string>
    <key>Kernel</key>
    <string>mach_kernel</string>
    <key>Kernel Flags</key>
    <string>-f</string>
    <key>PciRoot</key>
    <string>0</string>
    <key>Timeout</key>
    <string>5</string>
    <key>UseKernelCache</key>
    <string>Yes</string>
    </dict>
    </plist>

    NVDAN50Hal is in S/L/E, my PCI root is zero, I checked that. I also tried not to use kernel cache with 10.8.2.
    Its an old board, and I´m lucky its running 10.8.1 at all. Still I wonder whats going on...
  8. Thanks iMick,

    I followed your proposals and installed your pkg on my Backup.

    However I had to boot with -f again to have a usable GUI in 10.8.1. (I wish I knew whats wrong with my kernel_cache.)

    Upgrading to 10.8.2 showed the well known black screen with white patches again - no matter whether kernel_cache was used or not.

    Re-installing the pkg on 10.8.2 did not help either.

    Thank you for your suggestions, anyway!

  9. Thanks for your time! I did some simple edits with my T60 notebooks in 10.6, but the kext from 10.8 retail looks unfamiliar to me and I don´t know how to proceed.

    This is the output from "About this Mac":

    Vendor: NVIDIA (0x10de)

    What should I do with IOPCIFamily? I´m using the one I pointed to above with my harddisk too.

    (sorry for cluttering the forum with such noob stuff, threads seem to be more sophisticated here, usually)

    If a helpful soul would volunteer to edit the needed kexts for me, I would be eager to try those with my backup volume.

    Happy fourth advent!

  10. Hi folks, thanks for this great forum!

    I am runnig 10.8.1 with this mobo: http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/ConRoe1333-DVIH/

    and this graphics: http://www.asus.com/Graphics_Cards/NVIDIA_Series/EN8800GTHTDP256M/

    To get going at all I made a thumb drive with myHack and added these kexts as I could not get into the installer otherwise:

    NVDAN50Hal from DP4: http://www.osx86.net/10-8-mountain-lion/17287-not-work-qe-ci-mountain-lion-gm-nvidia-geforce-8400-gs-512mb-help.html#post114286

    IOPCIFamily: http://www.osx86.net/downloads.php?do=file&id=2965

    The Hack is running but gives me a garbled screen, if not booted with -f. There is no error message if I boot with -v (not -f), just Aqua not loading but a grey scattered screen.

    This is how my E/E looks like:

    Bildschirmfoto2012-12-22um181320.png

    A related problem seems to be the 10.8.2 combo update. The screen looks like this and -f does not help:

    P1050819.jpg

    I wonder whether someone could point me to a fix for the graphics?

    I am still using NVDAN50Hal from DP4 and all other kexts from 10.8.1. With the NVDAN50Hal from 10.8 the system just hangs at "DSMOS has arrived"

    I am using a iMac8.1 SMBios right now, but that does not seem to matter, MacPro 3,1 does just the same.

    OpenGL seems to work fine with 10.8.1.

    You may have noticed I posted this in a German forum too - hope you don´t mind. I didn't get far.

    Many thanks!

  11. Im aware of the fact that this post is dead in the water a long time...

    Still for completeness´s sake, non working Preview indicates that QE/CI is not running - which is strange, as a GMA950 is among the easier fixes.

    Assuming the OP is running 10.6 due to the core solo or duo netbook, this should fix the issue: http://www.osx86.net/downloads.php?do=file&id=2417

    (Install with Kext Wizard as usual and repair permissions afterwards.)
