I'm back. Here is the IOATAFamily kext. Any reason sometimes DNS fails for safari or ping, but works fine for lookup in network utility? I found the mDNSResponder "fix" with a "sudo killall mDNSResponder". Any way to make this permenant? IOATAFamily.kext.zip

So, aparently the chameleon stuff doesn't make it to the log. Can I force it to log it somewhere? It only sees the USB disk, not the ICH8 attached SATA DVD/RW and 2 hard drives.

Correct. That was not it. But aparently trying it fixed it! Don't know how, but now I am translucent and widgets ripple. Yes, I restarted multiple times before with no joy. Weird. Maybe running MyFix again changed something, but did that before too. Now for the bloody ICH8. Why would the ahciportinjector work, but not the IOTAFamily? Assume we need the later to work to be able to boot from it since it failed when I tried with the injector. P.S. Chameleon Wizard has taken control of all my plistssssss. Stupid thing. Time to figure out where changing assocations went in SL I guess. OK, fixed that.

You are too quick. Edited last post and added log. No translucent menu. Thought I read that when you drop a widget on the dashboard it should ripple. OH, bet I have to change chameleon back to GraphicsEnabler=Yes!!! Testing ATI I is correctly identified in System profiler.

Chameleon R2181 was installed with the MyHack version I used, and the Vostro 200 ATI kexts appear to be working though I don't get widget ripple, Screen saver preview/test and chess are working. I think that means QE/CI is working??? Still no joy with IOATAFamily after editing AppleIntelPIIXATA Info.plist regardless of BIOS settings. Any more thoughts? Yes, I remove ahciportinjector Tried booting with ahciportinjector off the internal, but no joy. boot log attached: At first, it looks like it can't load 82566MM but does later??? com.apple.configd appears to crash a couple times. IOSerialFamily fails Then the 82566 starts working No mention of the ICH8 at all. Boot Log 3-27 1052.rtf

I lied and worked on the ICH8 some more. Picked up an 8800GT from a friend since the 9800 is a 2 slot card and the chassis doesn't have a second slot above the PCI-E Slot. I aparently has native and NVidia downloadable drivers for SL,L,ML, so that is my backup. x1300 is now kind of a challenge like the ICH8.

I can back it out if needed, (made an image before) but I ran the 10.6.8 combo update and then reran the MyHack remove problematic extensions. Also did "Software Update".

I may be able to pick up either a geforce 8800GT or 9800GTX which are much better than my x1300. Either better for SL/ML? Would still like to get the x1300 working on SL

IOATAFamily still not seeing the ICH8 regardless of BIOS settings. I put it in /Extra/Extensions which is working for LAN. Dev:2822 Ven:8086

Up and running MyHack 10.6.3 version on USB HD. Intel82566MM Ethernet working No Audio IOATAFamily is not seeing CD/DVD in RAID mode. checking other modes and enabling HD drives to see what happens. Is there a way to write the -v boot data to a log file? Can I use the ATI KEXTs out of the Vostro pack since they have the same Dev ID? Do KEXTs in /extra superseed those in /system/library/extensions or do those need to be removed? Do I still need the Chameleon GraphicsEnabler branch from Azimutz and make the associated changes. If so, where can I find it? There appear to be a few Azimutz branches at forge.voodooprojects.org. Thanks again.

Thanks: Working on the MyHack install now. Will update when done. x1300 is DevID: 7183 Dell version. What is your preferred method/location for KEXT instalation?
