ASUS X44H extremely garbled audio

Hello,

Now that I've gotten past the KP at startup due to the AppleIntel...kext, I'd like to start a topic on the audio for this machine.  I figure EDP should have just handled it, but what's coming out for audio is hopelessly garbled.  The clue I've noted is that it sounds just the same as the audio that's supposed to play during the install of ML 10.8.5, so I'm suspecting something didnt take in the EDP run.  In "Sound" I have selections for "Digital Output" and "Speaker" and the volume control is enabled. But it just sound like static.

Any help toward getting the regular audio working on this machine would be appreciated!

Thanks and Best Regards,

Joe

Okay,  I found information at http://olarila.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=454 - They said to change the info.plist inside VoodooHDA.kext;

<key>IOPCIClassMatch</key>
<string>0x04030000&0xffff0000</string>

to

<key>IOPCIPrimaryMatch</key>
<string>0x3b568086</string>

Using the device id for my audio, which I found to be 1c20, by method in  http://olarila.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=63

Still didnt work.  So, it seems they have a lot of kexts for download at http://olarila.com/kexts/  I picked VoodooHDA version 2.8.4, where their website kindly indicates it works (in a tested devices list) with my Intel audio hardware at 1c20.

Downloaded it, made the above changes to the info.plist inside and replaced the existing VoodooHDA.kext with the new one.  Ran MyHack MyFix and rebooted, audio now works!
