  1. sweet! lovin' the new Broadcom wifi!!! tnx
  2. got in the machine ok but not working, got no visible wifi networks in airport utility. downloaded a kext file for the broadcom and researching the syntax to install manually. searched for install kext & install kext manually on the forum but didn't find instructions... advice? tnx!
  3. My D630 2.0Ghz 2gb nvidia machine came with Intel wifi card (reported not to work & doesn't). I want to install a Broadcom BCM94312MCG to see if I can get wifi working. recommendations? I was just gonna pop it in and see what happens but then thought there might be a better way... tnx
  4. thanks Herve, I am looking for another machine, is a Dell D830 with nvidia quadro nvs 140m a good choice? Specs are: 2.5ghz 4gb and 256mb video.
  5. after trying every machine in our house to see if it was hackintosh-able eventually I read online that a Dell D630 totally is. while I was skeptical, I still I bought one and gave it a try using unifail, when that didn't work I was back in google-land and found osxlatitude! yes! thanks for sharing all this, great work! one thing I haven't found is a really complete guide on how to do it all: how to pick a machine (correct specs), update & setup the bios (correct settings), download & create install media, install & update osx, etc. I think I referred to 6 or so webpages/sites throughout the process (not bad really). put me down as 'glad to be here' dziwei
  6. tnx for the reply! so ya think that it actually is fully updated and the message is like a glitch?
  7. after downloading and installing before restart a window pops up and reports 'unable to update' or something similar... after restart, running EDP and installing keyboard & mouse kexts AND running myfix again, the About This Mac reports the version as 10.8.3 is this normal? is there another way to verify that the update was completed? thanks!
  8. thanks! I tried my second option after your response, on mt. lion 10.8.2 it worked without incident. created new user/administrator, put all my stuff in shared folder, logged out and back in as new user, run myhack and enter new user password... no problem! logged out and back in as original user and deleted new user never having to change my friends setup. I see you have D630 with BIOS A18 and nvidia graphics running Mountain Lion, would you recommend updating my BIOS before completing this install? mine is currently A13. thanks a ton!
  9. myhack will not run since my friend does not have a system password. CANNOT mess up their system. can i add a password temporarily then remove it and their system will act exactly as before? can i add a user that will be able to run with password as administrator level? then delete that user and the system will act exactly as before? alternatives? thanks very much~!
