  1. Thanks Herve. I've been reading all night. I think I have the gist of it. I'll give it a go and see what happens. Thanks!
  2. Hi - I would like to use multiple monitors (2 external plus the laptop screen). I would like to setup a video editing suite. I didn't think about this when I chose my E6540 platform. It doesn't have a DisplayPort connection like my E6400's. I do have an HDMI port and one VGA port. The VGA port outputs nothing. The HDMI port worked on my HDMI television screen, though it was wonky. It worked on one of the HMDI inputs on the television, but not on the other. The other input caused the laptop to become super sluggish and the laptop desktop didn't show up on the television. I imagine I may need a patch still (I just barely got the basics working on the Hackintosh ). I read a bit about using HDMI for multiple monitor setups, and saw this might be challenging for multiple displays. I currently have two external monitors, both with DVI and VGA connections only. I suspect I could get adapters of some kind, but I'm a novice at best with the Hackintosh and wonder if I'll have trouble with adapters working out of the box. I have a PRO2X docking station that isn't recognized by the Hackintosh yet, and I researched into it, but at first glance it looks like it might be tough. Looks like the newer port replicators might be easier of I purchase one of those. Should I shy away from trying to get multiple monitors working though HDMI? If I need to purchase some additional hardware, I can definitely do that. What would you all recommend?
  3. Ok, thanks. I ended up just picking up a wireless AP from Goodwill for $2.99 and connected it to the network, instead of dealing with silly Windows 10. Should have done that two days ago. I guess I learned something though, so that counts for something.
  4. I'm trying to get my new Hackintosh to use the Dell PRO2X docking station and light up some additional displays and my other devices. Anyone try doing this yet on the E6540?
  5. Hey, I just finished my first Hackintosh build on my E6540. Some things still not working, but getting there. I don't yet have a compatible wireless card, so I thought I would simply bridge my wireless connection in my home from my Windows 10 PC (Dell E6540 also). Anyone try this before? It appears that both laptops have the same Intel I217-LM network card in them, both capable of something called "MDI-X". In theory, I should not need a crossover cable and the windows laptop should be able to share it's wireless connection, by the simple process of "bridging" the two connections with a single click inside the Windows 10 Networking Connections setup. As such, it doesn't work. The bridge is created, however, once I plug the cable into the back of the Windows 10 PC, and the other end into the Hackintosh laptop, the wireless connection to the Windows 10 PC is lost. The LAN cable connection is successful though. Is it possible the router providing the wireless signal needs to be capable of this type of bridge, or is that irrelevant? Thanks!
  6. Did you figure out how to post your files?
  7. Ok, I'll try that. I also can't play video in Quicktime or my video in the Photos app. Is there a system-wide hardware acceleration setting of some kind?
  8. That would be great if you would post your files! I have a few weird glitches I still can't figure out (I can't play video of any kind for some reason). Thanks!!
  9. Thanks again Jake! I was able to boot mine without the video issues...finally!! Ya! Thanks again!
  10. Gotcha. Is there another way to get those files? Any chance you could email them to me or something? Or is there another location you can suggest? Thanks!
  11. Thanks Jake. Do you mean the " E6540_HS_A22_disabled-HD8790M.zip"? I clicked that link to download, but the page didn't link to the files properly. Can you repost those? Thanks! I'll update the bios too! Thanks!
  12. Hey Jake - I also have the same hardware as a couple of the other users. Dell Latitude E6540 with i7 4810MQ , Intel HD 4600 graphics , 16 Gig ram , 500gig hard drive and Radeon 8790M I am the similar issue with the graphics getting scrambled and flickers, once the installer starts (it's like a vertical sync issue). I'm wondering if I just have a line incorrect in the config.plist file, or if I'm dealing with an AMD Radeon issue at the Bios level (I don't see any way to address this in the bios). I also noticed I have a really old bios. Rev A16. I tried to download you complete boot pack (E6540_HD4600_Only.zip), but the site is not working to download them. Any thoughts you have would be appreciated!
