Ok thanks mister, when I get around to playing with this again I'll come back here with the results.
-
Nope, the Latitude E6420 link in your signature. But can assume that dosent relate to my keyboard/mouse issue which is happening with the old extra you gave me. Taking all the above into account, wuld I have a better experence using OSX 10.9? If so how lumpy will it be on this laptop from a perf. point of view.
-
Afternoon Jake I havent been keeping up with all your threads, but I thought we were supposed to keep Optimus disabled..? and when I used the updated extra I just pointed MyHack at the extra's folder only. I assume that with regard to the latest extra's and not my weird k/b, mouse, shutrdown issue?
-
Haven't posted in this thread for ages, but as Im looking to put an SSD in the E6420 I fire up the laptop to make sure i could dual boot OXS 10.8 and Window8 on the same HDD. the issue Im getting now is with JakeLo's extra folder from the following post and now I remember why I haven't played with the laptop in all this time because 2 things keep hapening - 1. you select shutdown or reboot and OSX does neither but rather dos F*** off and then take you back to the login screen. 2. upon logging in I loose acess to both the keyboard and the mouse and have to plug in and extermnal mouse and k/b# 3. but then even that fails and I loose access all together. And on a side note the latest JL bootpack for my nVidia based E6420 results in a KP.

b1k3rdude started following E6420 research thread

This is probably obvious, but sleep mode dosen't work. What would I need to do to get this to work it at all..? Should I also assume speedstep wont be working either if the above is true..?
-
Thanks, I shall go a hunting then

I'm gonna try the kext from the link above the BC wifi card, by putting the folder in your extrass folder on my usb stick, then doing steps3 to 5 again. If it works does that mean we can create a boot pack entry for the E6420 for 10.8 on the EDP page ? [update] Just adding the wifi kext your folder didnt work and still not appearing 'about this mac' _maybe you could work your magic..?

Here you go, looks like it is a Broadcom BCM4313, foudn this link - http://www.osx86.net/downloads.php?do=file&id=3213 - Also did I read somewhere I can somehow 'rebrand' a wifi card under linux if the chipset is used in one of the many apple airport cards? hackintosh:~ user$ lspci -nn 00:00.0 Host bridge [0600]: Intel Corporation 2nd Generation Core Processor Family DRAM Controller [8086:0104] (rev 09) 00:01.0 PCI bridge [0604]: Intel Corporation Xeon E3-1200/2nd Generation Core Processor Family PCI Express Root Port [8086:0101] (rev 09) 00:16.0 Communication controller [0780]: Intel Corporation 6 Series/C200 Series Chipset Family MEI Controller #1 [8086:1c3a] (rev 04) 00:19.0 Ethernet controller [0200]: Intel Corporation 82579LM Gigabit Network Connection [8086:1502] (rev 04) 00:1a.0 USB controller [0c03]: Intel Corporation 6 Series/C200 Series Chipset Family USB Enhanced Host Controller #2 [8086:1c2d] (rev 04) 00:1b.0 Audio device [0403]: Intel Corporation 6 Series/C200 Series Chipset Family High Definition Audio Controller [8086:1c20] (rev 04) 00:1c.0 PCI bridge [0604]: Intel Corporation 6 Series/C200 Series Chipset Family PCI Express Root Port 1 [8086:1c10] (rev b4) 00:1c.1 PCI bridge [0604]: Intel Corporation 6 Series/C200 Series Chipset Family PCI Express Root Port 2 [8086:1c12] (rev b4) 00:1c.2 PCI bridge [0604]: Intel Corporation 6 Series/C200 Series Chipset Family PCI Express Root Port 3 [8086:1c14] (rev b4) 00:1c.3 PCI bridge [0604]: Intel Corporation 6 Series/C200 Series Chipset Family PCI Express Root Port 4 [8086:1c16] (rev b4) 00:1c.5 PCI bridge [0604]: Intel Corporation 6 Series/C200 Series Chipset Family PCI Express Root Port 6 [8086:1c1a] (rev b4) 00:1d.0 USB controller [0c03]: Intel Corporation 6 Series/C200 Series Chipset Family USB Enhanced Host Controller #1 [8086:1c26] (rev 04) 00:1f.0 ISA bridge [0601]: Intel Corporation QM67 Express Chipset Family LPC Controller [8086:1c4f] (rev 04) 00:1f.2 SATA controller [0106]: Intel Corporation 6 Series/C200 Series Chipset Family 6 port SATA AHCI Controller [8086:1c03] (rev 04) 00:1f.3 SMBus [0c05]: Intel Corporation 6 Series/C200 Series Chipset Family SMBus Controller [8086:1c22] (rev 04) 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: NVIDIA Corporation GF119 [Quadro NVS 4200M] [10de:1056] (rev a1) 01:00.1 Audio device [0403]: NVIDIA Corporation HDMI Audio stub [10de:0e08] (rev a1) 03:00.0 Network controller [0280]: Broadcom Corporation BCM4313 802.11b/g/n Wireless LAN Controller [14e4:4727] (rev 01) 0b:00.0 SD Host controller [0805]: O2 Micro, Inc. Evening Ok, that bootpack you gave me did the trick, I now have a mostly working Hacintosh, thank you. But had to take a roundabout route to get it working - boot from myhack USB stick choose generic when prompted for what extra's to install. boot from the USB stick again and then choose your extras folder run myfix reboot. Working: PC is detected as a MBP 8,1 Gfx (nVidia NVS420) Bluetooth (DW375) Ethernet (intel E1000) - its actually a Intel 82579LM gigabyte Audio - via voodoo sound system/driver Not working: Wifi (Dell DW501 N-half mini card) but I have some other half heigh cards I can use, see below) Intel Link 5100 (512AN_HMW) Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6200 (622ANHMW) Or full height that I think I can install in the other miniPCI slot - Intel Link-4965AGN Or would it be eaiser to get a proper apple half height miniPCI wifi card instead..? Todo: Figure out the correct way to setup dual boot Osx/Windows. Test mac port (already have Windows/Linux working) of a Doom3 Total conversion mod (The Darkmod) that create maps for and help support.

Yep, only have a WiFi card in this machine and in/out got the same results. Thanks for the new Bp, will try that later this afternoon.
-
And yes to the XD support being switched on, at this point Im tempted just to sell the Dell and get a real macbook. All of the extra's folders (3 so far that match the spec of the e6420 I have) I have tried either result in a KP pointing at the ACPI kexts or a Waiting for root.
-
Yes, yes and will have to check.
-
With the current install Im still getting the KP screen, will try one of the other extra packs where it was booting but saying waiting for root etc..
-
Nope, have tried a few "fixed" versions of these files and all KP at the same point show in post #111.
-
Ok might getting somewhere, got a KP but only one .kext was listed (I think) and it was the AppleACPI, I shall search the forum on how to remove individual .kexts etc..
