  1. I had some issue with the same BCM5722D.kext. Dell E5420, A05 SandyBridge i5 2520M OSX 10.11.5 The Internet worked fine until I pushed a lot of traffic by transferring something big (1GB+) and then network stoped working completely. After a reboot it is working again, but if I push fast files over gigabit it will ineviatably crash over 1GB+. After applying this kext to my clover I just pushed over 10GB without any issues, so I think this is a fix for me too. Thanks!
  2. I was so used to pressing window key + shift + 4 to take a screen shot on my other mackintosh that I didn't realise I had to press alt key instead of window key! I am pretty happy with this laptop now, I got audio working by using EDP and installing the VoodooHDA kext. I am also dual booting from grub4dos with windows XP and linux. There are sometimes where it hangs instead of shutting down or rebooting and I can't get dual display but its not a priority. I might research into it later if it becomes an issue. I have one last question, soon I need to buy a replacement WiFi card, is there any you can suggest that is working for Windows XP and El Capitan and E5420? I have come across some WiFi card that wasn't supported on XP anymore, so I hope to avoid it. PS I made a video of it - https://youtu.be/7seQfIl2eIA Thanks
  3. Wow thats really fantastic thank you so much! I couldn't take a screen shot using Shift + Command + 4 ,maybe because the audio is not working? I must boot using the USB pen and -no-zp . The battery status is displaying, I believe it is QE/CI, youtube works and it seems quite stable. The next major step is try to get audio support kext and buy a wifi card. Thanks for your help, I'm really happy with this laptop now
  4. Hey Jake I am using the original EFI_Clover.zip and E5420.zip as the guide outlines After removing /Volumes/ESP/EFI/CLOVER/ACPI/patched/DSDT.aml it seems to be getting further with the progress bar going all the way and then frozen with the cancel symbol. The last message displayed before the cancel symbol and scrambled graphics display is Still waiting for ? device I can't read the ? part
  5. I've reset the BIOS and tried different options including default as suggested, and the recommended ones I'm using appleps2 from http://forum.osxlati...ror/#entry61061 and installer 10.11.2 to see if it made any difference. These are the boot screens now, still rebooting
  6. Thanks for your help. I've replaced with this kext but its just rebooting at the same place as before. do you think these options are good? -v slide=0 dart=0 kext-dev-mode=1
  7. My new monitor arrived today so I have better screenshots now. Now it keeps rebooting at VoodooPS2TouchPad(Base) Version 1.8.3 loaded... - or - VoodooPS2TouchPad Version 1.9.0 loaded... Depending if I use Jake Lo's attachment, or the E5420 pack VoodooPS2Controller.kext regardless which USB port or if using safe mode or without caches mode.
  8. Solved - I have a script to automate the USB pen with the steps. 9. Thanks for help so far. I removed the wireless card. According to Hardware ID it is Dell Wireless 1530 I'm certain it is the factory stock and if i get El Capitan working I will definitely replace it. I tried also using chameleon boot loader incase that made any difference, using the same kexts but it pretty much the same error message. It appears that before the kernel panic kicks in there is an error message about IO80211Controller. Very bad screenshot sorry. This error persists even removing the wireless card.
  10. Thanks Jake. I replaced the kext and booted without caches however it is still rebooting with the same error message as above. For good measure I attempted to use a random VoodooPS2Controller.kext from the internet and it rebooted after this line Waiting on <dict ID="0"><key>IOProvider</key><string ID="1">IOResources</string></key><key>IOResourceMatch</key><string ID="2">boot-uuid-media</string></dict> Any advice next?
  11. Hmm I think I made a mistake and wasn't doing the clover preparation step properly. I did these steps the second time around Install Clover to EFI partition as per E5420 legacy instructions. Delete the EFI folder Copy the downloaded EFI_Clover there and rename to EFI extract E5420.zip and move that to /EFI/Clover Now I have another issue where the computer reboots. I have set DIMM to slot A This is the screenshot right before it reboots (sorry about broken screen, i will replace next week)
  12. I have followed the guide to create USB stick installer and am having the same issue as this users post (Unless I didn't follow the clover setup guide properly, but I tried various options and I think its right.) I had to enable asuspm patch in clover, but now am getting the fuzzy screen with crossed-circle icon. Apparently I have to disable USB 3.0, however there is no way to do that on this model. There is an option to disable external USB but this then disables all USB ports. I have checked various setting in the BIOS and tried eSata/USB combo port and other USB ports, but same result. Does this mean I should use a USB 2.0 stick instead or is there another trick?
  13. I have a Dell Latitude E5420 - A05 Bios Sandybridge i5 CPU Intel HD3000 graphics OSX 10.8.0 I was happy to finally get OSX running on this work laptop. I downloaded the Dell_Latitude_E5520_i5_2520M_HD3000-ml.zip EDP Bootpack and followed the preinstallation and installation guide. It installed OSX 10.8 on my machine. There are three things that are of concern (out of the box install) I have noticed the boot is slow with the verbose messages being displayed on the gray mac background. I would like to remove this theme, so it boots faster There is no keyboard or mouse support from the EDP bootpack. I used a USB mouse and keyboard to install Sometimes it does not shutdown correctly, sometimes the machine shutdowns everything but power remains on I think I am the first one to post success with the E5420 on here, so I hope to provide any feedback and help out others who might have this model. As yet I have not installed any further drivers, eg audio, and wifi appears not to be instaled yet, but will keep you informed.
