So anyone got 10.6.8 working? I downloaded and installed, but after that, I couldn't boot or recover. Fortunately I made a Time Machine backup before doing it or I would have lost my whole installation. I always ended up getting the error that my OS had shut down and I needed to power off. Tried safe mode, verbose, etc with no luck. Tried rebuilding the kext from EDP as well. Any thoughts? Thanks.

Finally go it. Had to manually setup and pick the right protocol, which took a while to figure out, but now it works.

Is there some trick to getting the hackintosh to communicate with an HP OfficeJet wireless printer? It will see it with bonjour, but cannot communicate with it? I am wondering what steps I may be missing in trying to set it up. When I connect the printer via USB, there are no problems printing. When I add the printer via the local IP address, it sees it, but doesn't print. Not sure what the issue is. Thanks again.

I figured it out. I had to rebuild the kexts. I was having the same issue that was not allowing the setting to remain after I clicked the box. Thanks.

Thanks again for all the help. Really enjoying using the Mac OS X. One thing I noticed after updating to 10.6.7 is that I lost the battery meter. I read about someone else having the problem with the update, but can't recall that there was a solution. Anyone running 10.6.7 with the battery meter working? What steps should I try? So, I finally got it working! I wiped the HDD, reinstalled from the DVD, installed EDP 1.8 and ran the chameleon install (rc5 r747), then updated, and now I have 10.6.7. I am thinking that the problem was I was confused with the directions and put the Extra.zip package from the page that instructs how to install from a USB to the root folder of the HDD. I didn't realized that EDP installed its own Extra folder. I then ran a few fixes, crossed my fingers, and she fired up! I am way excited, since now I can install iLife and other things that require 10.6.3 or higher. Thanks for all the help. I have one new question, though. In the instructions on dual booting with windows, it uses the terminal to create partitions. Is it possible to create the partitions through the disk utility and then install to one of the non-Mac partitions, or does it have to be done exactly how the instructions read? Thanks again for all the assistance. My wife was amazed when I showed her the working machine. Sleep works for me now too!

Formatted the HDD. Reinstalled from OSX DVD. Installed EDP to USB drive. Ran edptool. Got following error bin/rebuild.sh: line 22: /Volumes/Mac: No such file or directory logout [Process completed] I don't have a problem booting. The problem I end up having is that it hangs on the gray apple screen after I install the update. Are there permissions I need to fix before rebooting?

Yeah, I figured as much. I wiped the partition today (all zeroes) and reinstalled. I then did nothing else except move the extras folder over to the main partition then run the chameleon build rc5 r665. Without rebooting, I installed the updates then rebooted. Still hung. I installed the Extra folder and chameleon from my USB (as you said). Right now I am restoring the new image and trying to run EDP build for my machine before installing the update. Then I will try building to the USB and doing it that way. Is there any way to see what errors I am getting so I can get a better idea of where the problem lies?

Thanks for reading it. I just wanted to also show people that I have been searching the forums and reading the Wiki, not just asking for someone to give me an answer. Anyhow, rebuilt and will update again. I chose #5, apple ps2 controller, no power pack, no PCI (never had that) and I think that is it. Also, I went looking through the extended description and saw that Darwin is only 10.0. Would that make a difference? I don't know really what it is, but I read some things about people upgrading it to later versions. Reinstalling now. Of note, when I restore, it does some really weird stuff too. It goes to 100% complete with no time left, then the time shoots up to something crazy like 324094893 hours and the percent goes as high as 105.8%. It reinstalled the image just fine, but I found it quite strange. Nope, didn't work. When I tried to boot, it said that there was no boot drive. I went back and tried to repair it, but nothing happened.

Hello, Enjoyed reading all the posts and seeing the dynamics of this great community. I have an NVidia-based D620 (2 GHz) and was able to install SL 10.6.0 perfectly from my retail disk imaged onto a USB. I actually had no other access to a mac and used transmac and MacDrive to format my usb correctly and do the install. I updated everything, things working great (except the whole sleep thing, but I wasn't worried about it at the moment). I used all the files and followed all the Wikis from this site. (EDP 1.8 and the chameleon version from the same page). However, I wanted to make the jump to SL 10.6.7. As far as I have read, most people have no problems installing 10.6.6 or 10.6.7. I backed-up my install and then ran the update. After the prompt to restart, it installs the update and then shuts down. When I turn the computer on and enter the system password, it logs into the gray boot screen with the apple and spinning circle. Then it hangs and never moves past that point. Things I have tried: re-imaged the machine, installed EDP 1.8 again, did not reboot and then installed the update and rebooted. Same problem. Ran this installation in -x mode; got the gray bar to fill to capacity; then it disappeared and I was stuck at the same spot Ran in verbose mode; since I am a noob to the mac, I wasn't sure how to read the entire entry or pause it to see where errors occur. However, it stopped at ApplePS2ALPSGlidePoint: Dictionary Object: HDDefaultParameters Value: ?? I did catch a glimpse that said Darwin version was 10.6; I don't know what this means. Ran with pmVersion=21; got past the last error and now stuck on SIOCPROTODETACH_IN6: utun0 error=6 Ran with -x -v PmVersion=21 Same error as above.....but then is goes on and does a bunch of stuff and stops on Kext load request buffer from user space still retained by a kext; probably a memory leak. Stalls, then says a bunch more things and ends up with the same error Could it be that software I installed is interfering with the update? I did not find a good update thread here that talks about going from 10.6.0 to 10.6.7, so any help would be much appreciated. Is there a good place to read about KP's I don't know what they are or how to see if I have one. I am very familiar with Windows, DOS, some linux, and this is my first attempt at learning Mac OSX. Should I run a repair on it (it seems that the repair is done when running in -x mode)? Thanks so much.
