  1. While waiting on the SLD430USB to download, emptying the trash on my MacBook and building a BIOS flashing bootable CD I thought I would make a few somewhat random suggestions. First some to add to the FAQ (we need one?): 1. Update your BIOS. Even if not doing one of the custom ones with DSDT modifications in it, at least use the latest from Dell. The table at http://www.osxlatitude.com/groups/d4xosx/wiki/e36a2/DSDT_Collection.html has which Dell BIOS versions DSDT's are available for. I was on A04 and am upgrading to A10. 2. Do NOT format your MacOS drive case sensitive. I've read this a few places. I think just Journaled, not case sensitive is the default. Then a couple handy sites/utilities: 3. http://www.macosxhints.com/ which is now http://hints.macworld.com/ is a great source of OS and Application hints for Mac users. I have no affiliation with them other than having posted a few hints and read lots. 4. http://hddguru.com/software/ has lots of great low-level hard disk tools. In particular I use MHDD (http://hddguru.com/software/2005.10.02-MHDD/) to test drives and check SMART info.
