  1. I thought I'd write a short guide to getting this spec up and running, it's partly so that I don't forget what I did to gain a fully working system under ML with the latest update (2nd May). Here are my system specs: MB: Asus Rampage II Gene - Revision 1 - BIOS version 1701 Audio codec: AD1989B LAN: Realtek 8111C CPU: Intel i7 920 @ 2.66GHz Graphics card: Sapphire ATI 6850 1GB 256GB SSD Broadcom USB BT adaptor Apple BT mini keyboard MS wireless mouse This is written from memory, I did the install a few days ago and it's taken me this long to get everything working correctly. Step 1. Follow the regular MyHack 3 guide to setup your ML DP3 USB installation drive and install as described. - You can choose to install the suggested /Extra kexts but don't remove anything. Step 2. Reboot (If you have dual screens and ATI6850 only 1 screen will work at this stage). Step 3. Unzip the attached Extra.zip to your desktop. Step 4. Go to /Extra and delete everything inside that folder. Step 5. Copy the contents of the Extra.zip folder that you unzipped in step 3 to /Extra Step 6. Reboot. At this point you should have a nicely working system *virtual high five* What's in my Extra.zip My DSDT, it has no section for graphics so should work with other cards. It fixes sleep, Orange drive icons and HDA audio. Note: it was extracted from my BIOS version 1701 so you might need to upgrade to that version first. The /Extra/Extensions folder contains these kexts: - AD2000b.kext - needed for audio - AppleHDA.kext - needed for audio - HDAEnabler.kext - needed for audio - HDEFEnabler.kext - needed for audio - AppleACPIPlatform.kext - resolves 75 second delay at boot (not essential if you don't mind the boot delay) - ATI6000Controller.kext - Only required if you have a Sapphire 6850 (or something very similar) - RealtekRTL81xx.kext - Built-in network card -FakeSMC.kext - installed by MyHack3 Post installation I hit updated and installed the latest updates (around 1.4GB) - rebooted all was well. I also installed TrimEnabler.dmg to enable TRIM on my SSD (Google it). If I missed something, or if you have any advice on how I could do this better please let me know. Note: The forum software won't allow me to upload the Extra.zip as it's over 1MB (Conti can you fix that?) External link here: http://www.filefactory.com/file/4asjub4 ... /Extra.zip
  2. Just wanted to report that I installed the 1.1GB software update that Apple released today without incident. I just installed it and rebooted and set UseKernelCache=No on the Chameleon command line, then ran myfix (long) and rebooted as usual. No problems to report so far. I still have everything working including sleep. Reports as version OS X 10.8 (12A193i). Thanks, Dan
  3. I just wanted to feed back regarding this problem. I posted the question on IM and user eep357 came back with a solution. Essentially I had to replace AppleACPIPlatform.kext with an earlier version, I tried the Lion 10.7.3 version with no joy and eventually settled on v1.3.6. This was easy to implement with my MyHack install, I really like being able to keep all of my extra kexts in /Extra/Extensions, very very tidy.
  4. I don't think it's one of the KEXTs in EXTRA as I can boot the system without any of them (with delay of course). It's certainly not my myhack either as I tried a ML install to a third drive using a completely different method with the same delay problem. I'll sit tight, keep any eye on the forums and see if someone else experiences the problem. Thanks, Dan
  5. It runs perfectly under 10.7.3, no delay at all. I still have 10.7.3 on a separate SSD, is there a log I can get from it that might help with the debugging?
  6. HI Conti I gave that smbios.plist (changed the serial) a try but it made no difference. I also tried a couple of other things that a Google search revealed. I changed the SATA port to 0, 1, 2 and 3 (no difference) and I removed 3 of my memory modules so that I now have 3x4GB, this also made no difference
  7. OK I downloaded DSDT Editor from olarilla.com and opened my Linux generated DSDT file. I added a patch to fix the orange drive icons which worked great. I then tried to add a patch for my audio but that did not work, so I opened an DSDT found elsewhere and copied the parts related to the sounds card across to my own DSDT this worked fine. I'm generally quite happy now, the only glaring issue is the 75 seconds delay during the boot at this point: IOAPIC: Version 0x20 Vectors 64:87 IOAPIC: Version 0x20 Vectors 88:111 <- sit's here for 75 seconds then continues ACPI: System State [s0 S3 S4 S5] (S3) Can anyone shed any light of what might be causing this or how I might go about debugging it? Thanks, Dan
  8. Just starting out with DSDT and would like to create my own file targeted at my system. I'm sort of stuck as to where I should start and was hoping for some advice regards the best methodology. I followed the instructions and dumped everything from a Linux boot CD (attached). MB: Asus Rampage II Gene - Revision 1 - BIOS version 1701 Audio codec: AD1989B (which I believe is the same as AD2000b) LAN: Realtek 8111C CPU: Intel i7 920 @ 2.66GHz Graphics card: ATI 6850 PCI root of graphics card: (how do I determine this?) I'm trying to achieve a clean install of ML DP3 and have successfully used MyHack 3 to get the system booting. I then disabled the GraphicsEnabled and rebooted (this enabled my 2nd screen which was blank with the enabler turned on). Copied AppleRTL8169Ethernet.kext from my Lion install to /Extra to get LAN. Copied AD2000b.kext and associated files to /Extra to get Audio. Problems 1. I get a long, maybe 60 second delay during boot (Could this be PCI root not being set correctly?) I've attached a bootlog in case that helps and starred the last line I see before the delay (localhost kernel[0]: IOAPIC: Version 0x20 Vectors 88:111) 2. The drive icons are orange. Any advice greatly appreciated. Rampage_II_GENE-Linux-Dump.zip system.log.zip
  9. Hi, I'm Dan and I'm from Colchester, UK. I've been using a hackint0sh for around 3 years but only seriously as my main workstation for 1 year. Lion has been solid for me and was the basis of my migration to OSX, I work in high end image post production (Photoshop and 3D) and I've specced out my t0sh with 18GB RAM, an i7 and SSD. My skill level is reasonable I guess, I have worked with MS servers and workstation in support for several years in the past and have built Linux based storage servers. My OSX knowledge is growing slowly but I'm not really literate yet. I'm a 2D and 3D artist, if I can add to the community with those skills please let me know. Thanks for reading, Dan
