  1. Steps taking to solve my upgrade problem: 1. Installed myHack 2. Made a 10.6 installer USB through myHack 3. Installed 10.6.7 (Maybe not needed, but I installed 10.6.2 first got my sound and Internet connection to work then installed 10.6.6 and finally installed 10.6.7) 4. I then went to /System/Library/Extensions (S/L/E) and copied all the 10.6.7 ATI kexts and placed them in a folder on my desktop 5. I upgraded to 10.6.8 and did not reset after upgrade was finished 6. I went back to /System/Library/Extensions (S/L/E) and deleted all the 10.6.8 ATI kext 7. I then copied all my 10.6.7 ATI kext from the folder on my desktop and placed them in to /System/Library/Extensions (S/L/E) 8. I placed my myHack USB 10.6 installer back in my computer’s USB slot and restarted my computer 9. During the boot screen I pressed F12 (Gigabyte Motherboard) to select my USB for the boot device 10. Once in myHack I installed “My own Extras†(you can choose “Use Generic One†if you do not have your own), then I ran “Run myFixâ€, “Install Chameleonâ€, “Install myHack Utilities†and then “Remove Problematic Extensions†11. I restarted my system and finally had 10.6.8 working on my system. Happy Hacking mdg1618

  4. Hello Scott (Conti), Thank you for your insight as to how I could resolve my upgrade problem(s). I did read the Hardware requirements and paid close attention to the HD 5xxx and 6xxx ATI graphics cards, but thought that my card was one of the ones that would work out of the box (oob). I did not know that I was having problems associated with my graphics card, because I did understand what was presented to me when I started my system in verbose mode (-v). After several failed attempts and misguidance through other products, such as Tony Mac, I was finally able to upgrade my Snow Leopard to 10.6.8. For those of you that are interested I had trouble upgrading to 10.6.8 and would receive the message below in verbose mode: systemShutdown false com_chucko_RealtekR1000:Ethernet address 6c:f0:49:e4:d4:xx Waiting for DSMOS... Previous Shutdown cause: 3 DSMOS has arrived **Device in slot: SLOT --1** Steps taking to solve my upgrade problem: 1. Installed myHack 2. Made a 10.6 installer USB through myHack 3. I am currently writing my cap stone project for University and do not have much funds, but still took the liberty to show my appreciation for your hard work and donated funds to your project. Although, my funds are tight at this moment I would still like to contribute to myHack in the form of a suggestion. I think that it would be beneficial for novice Hackintoshers to have a place on your site (maybe with the name of “Boot campâ€) dedicated towards such things as: 1. Explanations of “My own Extrasâ€, “use my Ownâ€, “Run myFixâ€, “Install Chameleonâ€, “Install myHack Utilities†and “Remove Problematic Extensionsâ€. As well as when one should use them. 2. Common terminal commands to run for instance “Run myFix†within the terminal (which I still don’t know how to do until now) 3. How to identify common screens within the verbose mode that give indication to problems and how one can solve them 4. How to make a DSDT.aml and a smbios list and why they are important 5. Possible boot flags to use for certain errors (for example: GrahicsEnabler=No –v, USBBusFix=Yes) 6. How to force VESA mode and why I know that some of these topics may seem trivial to some, but for a novice Hackitosher the share name of DSDT can be overwhelming and may discourage individuals from trying to advance all together. I believe that this information could answer many questions within the forum and give novice Hackintoshers the background basic needed to successfully implement myHack into their Hackintosh project. As always, I will gladly volunteer my free time and services to increase the user base pertaining to myHack. All the best to all and Happy Hacking mdg1618
  5. Hello, After three weeks of trying, I am still not able to update my system past 10.6.6. This is very frustrating, because I have received numerous suggestion on how to resolve this, but all have failed until now. I am only using myhack to install extras and the DSDT file given to me by Conti on a clean system. When I run my system in verbose mode I get this message: systemShutdown false com_chucko_RealtekR1000:Ethernet address 6c:f0:49:e4:d4:xx Waiting for DSMOS... Previous Shutdown cause: 3 DSMOS has arrived **Device in slot: SLOT --1** I have tried replacing the RealtekR1000 kext with another one but this did not solve my problem. After three long weeks of trying with no success give one doubt of success. Is there anybody who knows a solution to my situation without buying a new mobo? My system specs. are: mobo: GA-X58A-UD3R rev 1.0 BIOS F6 CPU: i7-920 2.66GHz LGA 1366 GPU: XFX ATI Readon HD 5770 RAM: 6GB (use only 4GB for installation) Audio: Realtek ALC889 Ethernet: Realtek 8111D As always any and all assistance would be greatly appreciated Happy Hacking mdg1618
  6. Hello Conti, Yes, I know that my system was a little “screwed up†before, but I did perform a clean install and did try to install the Extras folder you provided me through MyHack’s “Install extrasâ€. I do not know why I am still having trouble installing updates on Snow Leopard. I recently went through my complete BIOS setup again and made yet another fresh install. I was able to install Snow Leopard 10.6.7 with sound and Internet, but when I tried to install 10.6.8, so that I can finally install Mountain Lion I got this message: “com_chucko_RealktekR1000 : Ethernet address 6c:f0:49:e4.d4:xx ** Device in slot : SLOT –1 **†After I make an updated, am I supposed to run “My Fix†thereafter or any other task or can I just reboot my system and see if problems arise and then address them? I have been dealing with this matter for over two weeks now and do not see a quick solution to my problem as of yet. Any assistance from anybody would be of great service. Regards, Mdg1618
  7. Hello Conti, Thank you for your advice and assistance thus far. I installed the Extra you sent to me via MyHack. All kexts, plist and DSDT.aml were installed successfully and can be found in /E/E. But, when I rebooted in verbose mode I got this message: Failed to load kext com.apple.driver.AppleGDA (error 0xdc008016) DSMOS has arrived I rebooted and typed "-v GraphicsEnabler=Yes". My system then froze at: Waiting for DSMOS... SystemShutdown false Previous Shutdown Cause:3 DSMOS has arrived I rebooted and this time typed "-v GraphicsEnabler=No" and was able to start my system, but I have no Internet connection, or sound still. My resolution is also set to 800x600 (I have a 1680x1050 monitor). Any help in this matter would be greatly needed. Happy Hacking to All mdg1618
  8. Hello Conti, Thank you for your quick reply. I have attached my DSDT.dsl file to this reply as requested. I think that MyHack is the best Hackintosh application to date. I have tried numerous other applications in the hopes of making a Hackintosh, all of which have failed me miserably. It is for this reason that I will continue to support MyHack in any form necessary. I wish you and yours all the best and as always Happy Hacking to All mdg1618 dsdt.zip
  9. Hello Conti, Thank you for your attachment and the information. I did a clean install with only the "Generic Extra" loaded, but I cannot generate a diff (diff -rq file1 file2) between your DSDT.aml and my extracted DSDT.dsl from my system, because file formats are different. I tried ending the suffix of the files, but this did not work. If I delete the GFX0/1 section of your DSDT.amd after generating a diff, would I then have to run DSDT.SE to get my Graphics card injected into the my DSDT.dsl If I get a diff generated, what should I do afterwards? Should I inject the generated difference into my DSDT.dsl and then compile it? Sorry, for being so inexperienced. Sometimes I feel a little embarrassed to ask questions, because I think that my knowledge pertaining to Hackintosh-ing is far behind the majority of the Hackintoshers. But we all have to start from somewhere Thank you all for your understanding and guidance in this matter. As always Happy Hacking mdg1618
  10. Hello Conti, Thank you for your reply and sorry about that "RealtekR1000SL.kext" comment, I meant to say "Binary AppleHDA.kext". I have been trying out so many different kext possibilities and combinations in the last couple of days that I am sadly having trouble separating them. I am glad that you got your work station back up I wanted to enter the IRC, but I only have one computer and I was constantly trying different ways to solve my update problems. I only have some basic knowledge of computers and have took this time to try to increase my understanding of just how a Hackintosh works. Although, I have spent over a week on this and I believe that I have gained some valuable insight towards certain subjects pertaining to computers in general. I will make a fresh start and will only use the utilities within MyHack. I thank you for your attachment and I hope to be able to address future issues within the IRC. Best of all wishes to all and Happy Hacking mdg1618
  11. Hello All, I think that my problem is the result of me not being able to install any Snow Leopard update higher than 10.6.6. I am also using another method to install 10.6.6 on my system, because I can not install the 10.6.8 update through MyHack until now. I have tried to run "kextstat |grep -v com.apple" on my system at first to find the required kexts that should be in my "Extra/Extensions" folder at first. After that I moved any missing kexts from "/System/Library/Extensions" to the "Extra/Extensions" folder and then ran kext utility. I do not think that I can run Mountain Lion from Snow Leopard 10.6.6, but I can not currently install 10.6.8 on my system. I am also having trouble getting my audio (Realtek ALC889) to work. I have tried with removing the "AppleHDA.kext" and replacing it with "RealtekR1000SL.kext" but this did not work for me. Any assistance in this and all my problems addressing this matter would is greatly needed Happy Hacking to all mdg1618
  12. Hello Conti, Thank you for your quick reply. Sorry to hear that about your workstation I placed a lot of time and research in my purchase of my computer a year ago when I built it and although some may say that it is already out-of-date, I do not have the desire to change it out or swap out its hardware. I do not think that I can help you out much, but if you feel that there is anything that this noob can do to help you over this workstation transition, please do not hesitate to ask. Your site is the only one that I have encountered until now that has sincerely put forth an effort in aiding its members in accomplishing their goals of having an up and running Hackintosh. Thank you also for the needed information pertaining to IRC. I will try it out shortly. I live in Europe at the moment, so I hope that the times change will not be a problem. I am currently taking my last University course and will receive my degree at the end of September I do not have too much money at the time, due to my high tuition costs, but I have sent you $20 (via PayPal) as a way of showing my appreciation in this matter and to support your efforts. I do not mean to spam or advertise, but I believe if other readers find that myhack has helped them in any way, that we should show our support in some form. This may simply mean sharing one's knowledge by giving other myhack members advise towards the best possible way and/or means towards solving their problems or through donations. All the best to all and Happy Hacking mdg1618
  13. Hey conti, I have been trying for over a week now to get OS X Mountain Lion installed on my computer. Until now all my attempts have failed. I understand that you have the exact same mobo as I do and i take it that you got OS X Mountain Lion to run on your system. It would be great if you could give me some tips as to how you did this. I tried to logging into IRC under channel #6667 and #6669, but every time I long on there is nobody else there. My system specs. are: mobo: GA-X58A-UD3R rev 1.0 BIOS F6 CPU: i7-920 2.66GHz LGA 1366 GPU: XFX ATI Readon HD 5770 RAM: 6GB (use only 4GB for installation) Audio: Realtek ALC889 Ethernet: Realtek 8111D Any information or assistance in this matter is greatly needed Regards, mdg1618
  14. Hello All I have ahd some problems with my system (see specs. below) one of which was the boot0 error that I resolved, but now I jumped from one problem to the other. Now when I start my pc in verbose mode I get "[iOBluetoothHCIController][start] --completed" then my system just freezes. I tried with "-v GraphicsEnabler=No" but this did not help. After I tried the suggeted solutions and try to start in verbose mode I get "ACPI SMC PlatformPlugin::start-waitForService(resourceMatching(AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement) timed out". I have placed my Snow Leopard AppleACPIPlatform.kext in Extra/Extensions folder of the myhack installer drive, but this did not help any. Should I also place my DSDT.aml in the extra folder of my myhack installer? Any advice would be of great help. My system specs. are: mobo: GA-X58A-UD3R rev 1.0 BIOS F6 CPU: i7-920 2.66GHz LGA 1366 GPU: XFX ATI Readon HD 5770 RAM: 6GB (use only 4GB for installation) Audio: Realtek ALC889 Ethernet: Realtek 8111D Any assistance in this matter would be greatly apprieciated. 15. Hey Telepati, Did you solve your problem yet? I had the same problem and read some other post, but found them too hard to understand for a beginner. I found this site: [http] and it solved my problem. I hope that it will help you or others that read your post. Happy hacking mdg1618
  16. Hello All, I got a little further and now I get the bootscreen with the activity indicator run, but I can not get into Mountain Lion (even in safe mode). When I use the verbose flag, I get this message "ACPI-SMC-Platform Plugin:Start-Waitforservice(resource Matching(AppleIntelcpu Power Mangement) Time out". Can anybody help me out as to what I can do to solve this problem? Any advice wold be great. Happy hacking mdg1618
  17. Hello Beta, Thank you for your reply and your support. Every time I boot back into my system with the myhack USB installer I am brought back to the welcome menu where I first started. All I can do is to format my drive again and now I am getting the boot0 error message when I boot my system without the myhack USB installer. Even when I use " dd if=boot1h of=/dev/sda2 bs=4096" within the GParted partition editor on the Ubuntu liveCD, afterwards the running wheel displayed on the start screen show activity, but it just runs constantly without ever stopping. I tried to start in safe mode (-x) but that did not work and then I tried to start it using -f, which also did not work. I tried it in verbose mode also and ... sorry forgot what stood there Anyway, I did a fresh install of my system again for the 10th time this week and I am now back on SL 10.6.6. I have some projects to work on and need my computer to get them done. I hope to have Mountain Lion installed on my system soon. Once again thank you for your guidance in this matter. By the way you got a killer Hackintosh! Regards, mdg1618
  18. Hello Beta, I tired Rampagedev's installation method and could not get pass step 16. I wrote him/her in the hopes that he/she could help me out to finally get my system up and running. Happy hacking to All, mdg1618
  19. Hello Beta, Thank you for the link. I will give it a try today and see if I can finally get ML installed on my computer. I will post again if it worked or not. Happy hacking to All mdg1618
  20. Hello Toltuga, Thank you for your reply. I did follow the instructions provided in the guide, but I am still not able to install 10.6.8 over my 10.6.6 Snow Leopard. I really would like to install Mountain Lion on my system and would be thankful for any advice. Happy hacking to All, mdg1618
  21. Hello All, About a year ago I made my Hackintosh from a GA-X58A-UD3R rev. 1.0 mobo and had no problems with it until the 10.6.7 updated. I tried many solutions, but since I am not that proficient in computers, I went back to my old OS. I have heard that other people have got their GA-X58A-UD3R rev. 1.0 mobo not only updated, but have also upgrade to 10.8. This inspired me to try once more my luck to install the latest that Apple has to offer on my system. If anybody can give me assistance as to how I can use MyHack to upgrade my SL 10.6.6, I would be very greatful. Happy hacking to all mdg1618

Hello All, I am an American who is living in Europe at the present time. I have lived in Berlin, Germany for over 20 years and received my engineering degree there as well. I am currently living in Denmark with my Danish wife, but plan to move back to the U.S. very soon. My first computer ever was an Apple and I loved it. Since then I lost my way and went to Microsoft. After some years with Microsoft I switched to Linux, but still missed the Apple feel and when Apple went with the Intel processor, I had to try to create a hackintosh. I was a complete noob a year ago when I first tried to get my Mac up (I did not even know what a kext was none the less what it did). After some pain and grey hairs, I finally got my system up and running and was never so proud of myself. I do not like messing with stuff that is not broke, so I did not try to overclock my system or make any radical adjustments. The only thing that I did was to upgrade my system when new upgrades where made available. I was a happy camper until Snow Leopard 10.6.7 came out and I could not complete this upgrade. I tried with deleting the SleepEnabler.kext and HDARollback along with numerous other suggestions, but none helped. I ended up going back to Linux, then to Microsoft. I was very disappointed and yearned for my Mac again. Recently, Mountain Lion was released and I got all crazy about working my way around my installation problems to finally get the latest Mac OS on my system. I have tried for more than a week to get at least SL 10.6.8 on my system, so that I can at least download Mountain Lion from the App-store. Although I am no computer scientist, I do know a little bit about computers and was therefore at my wits end when I could not get things running the way I wanted them to. I was ready to give up all hope of ever having a system beyond SL 10.6.6 but did one last search on Goggle and instead of stating my problem I searched for my mobo (GA-X58A-UD3R/rev: 1.0) and Mountain Lion install. I found an article that gave me inspiration to try to install Mountain Lion on my system. I do not have too much programming knowledge, but if I can help someone with lesser experience, I will always try to help out wherever I can. Thank you in advance for your guidance in this matter Mdg1618
