  1. GA-Z68AP-D3 (R2) i3-2120-3.3. GHz Asus 210 SL Geforce MSI 7300 LE I finally (whew) got something to work but now I'm stuck waiting on the Root Device. As for the onboard video, it has three settings: Enabled if no EXT PEG exists, always enable and Auto. There are settings for the video card for the 16x PCI slot, 4x PCI slot and PCI. The only way the Asus card works is if it's set on PCI. If it is moved to the 16x setting for the slot, the computer immediately reboots after the -v npsi=0x2000 GraphicsEnabler=No before I can see an error message or snap a screenshot. Using a different card I happen to have lying around, an MSI card in the 4x slot, the installer does work! But after installing, it then goes into the "waiting for root device" circle, which never ends. I have tried some other switches: -v npsi=0x2000 GraphicsEnable=No and the following switches: Debug=8 ahcidisk=1, busration=36, PCIRootUID=1 and pcis=1. thank you very much for helping me with this problem. The waiting for root device is not on the image but it does come up eventually. charlie
  2. Enable if no EXT PEG: crashes so badly that video never comes back up; monitor light turns yellow and never comes back. I have to then turn it off and on to get it to reboot. Crashes at the same place with it in Auto or in Always Enable crash at the same spot as the screen shots I've sent. I did try all three of them with those results. Do you think the motherboard is bad? XXX The ENABLE IF NO EXT PEG means that the Onboard VGA (GRAPHICS) would be activated (enabled) if there is no dedicated video card detected ( like your GT 220) BUT if the dedicated GPU was detected then the Onboard graphics would be deactivated. XXX With the Init Display set to PCI, the computer does display the final error message and it is is the same as the image I sent you. I tried the 210 and an older PCI express card I have, an MSI. Maybe I should flash the motherboard? GA-Z68AP-D3 (R2) i3-2120-3.3. GHz Asus 210 SL Geforce thanks charlie
  3. This motherboard doesn't have built-in graphics. I'm using the Asus 210 Geforce. There is an onboard vga setting but there is no "off" for it; just Enable if no EXT PEG, always enable and Auto. On anything but auto, it reboots rather than showing what stops the process. If there something I need to do in Myhack to change that? thanks charlie GA-Z68AP-D3 (R2) i3-2120-3.3. 4. -v npci=0x2000 GraphicsEnabler=No If the quality is not good enough, please let me know and I'll retake. thanks for all your help charlie GA-Z68AP-D3 (R2) i3-2120-3.3. GHz Asus 210 SL Geforce
  5. Picture is with the switches of -v GraphicsEnabler=No Sorry I'm muddling along. I will follow directions better in the future. GA-Z68AP-D3 (R2) i3-2120-3.3. GHz Asus 210 SL Geforce

  7. I am desperate. I’ve tried two motherboards and two processors. I can never get to the graphical install interface on ML. I have gotten to the point of “waiting on root device†but I’m not able to get there now. Whatever I try: multiboot (chameleon, stolen and rebranded), crackwalk or myhack, each reboots when it gets to that point of loading the graphical interface. Even though I use the –F switch, it does the same thing and I can never see the error. It doesn’t “halt†where I can read the messages. First motherboard & chip: z68ap-d3 (2.0), G630 Sandy Bridge 2.7 GHz, asus 210 Ge Force 512 MG (video). Second motherboard: B75M-D3P, i3 2120 3.3 GHz (video on board). Same results. I have used about every switch I can find online (DSDT=no, GraphicsEnabler=no; -v, -x cpus=1 busratio=18; -v npci=0x2000 cpus=1 GraphicsEnabler=No; debug=8 ahcidisk=1; HPET, 64 bit, ACHI). I even flashed the z68ap motherboard. I have a working rig, using Snow Leopard that is “incompatible with ML.†I built that rig from scratch and had no problems. I have changed stuff in the BIOS trying to install ML until I’m almost blind. I have re-set to default settings and tried again. I am willing to try anything that anyone suggests. I also have a MacBook Pro I can use to make stuff. Someone p l e a s e give me something different to try or do. I can do things in terminal in single user mode if someone will give me step-by-step directions. Please help.
  8. I'm from South Carolina where I've lived for the last 50 years. Originally from North Carolina, I was a newspaper man for nearly 30 years. I'm now a Web master at a medical school but while a newspaper man, I wrote a computer column for about 12 years. I have a lot of experience with PCs, both repairing them and fixing software problems. Sadly, since I'm no longer in desktop support, my PC skills have fallen off. I've been using a hackintosh about 7 years, starting around 2005 at insanelymac.com. I'm interested in the platform for two reasons: I like putzing around with computers and I've always wanted to see if the Mac platform was as good as some of my buddies say it is. (My column was pretty much PC only.) My skill levels for PC is fairly high but much lower with the hackintosh. I have to credit Azimutz (insanelymac) for really helping me a lot -- he helped me get over the hump. I've just had a similar experience to others at tonycrap's Web site. I posted there about "making a dual-layer DVD" out of the Mountain Lion install app and have been banned for life. All appeals were refused and they somehow assumed from the post that I had to have downloaded ML from a pirate site -- which I didn't. I even offered to give them my Apple user name and password for them to check the date I bought it -- months before the post -- but they got more furious and said I was a hack and my system was a hack -- neither of which is true. Since I've been around PCs since their first intro, I've never had anything like that happen to me. OK: my problem. I am using a GA-Z68AP-D3 (R2.0) with a G630 Sandy Bridge 2.7 Ghz, LGA 1155, Asus Geforce 210 video. I can "never" get past the first install screen. I boot from myhack (or crackwalk) and the desktop will flash for a moment and then the machine reboots. I've never got even close to doing an install. I've done -x -f -v and when it comes time for the desktop to load, flash! then reboot. Could someone using that board maybe post what they have in the BIOS? I know there are many success stories with this board but one of them ain't mine. (Trying to install ML.) Please, please help!!!
