  1. I have a dell optiplex 760 running 10.6.8(no QE), I have no flash support on 10.6.8, but I'm going to downgrade 10.6.3 for flash support.

    intel core 2 duo e7400 2.8ghz

    2bg ram

    500 gb harddrive

    intel q43 graphics

How would i find out if NVidia Quadro NVS 290 DMS-59 256MB half Height PCI-E Video Card would give me QE?

Yes, it does have QI/QE. I have the the older version of that (NVS 280) on my old HP7600 Pentium D 945 running OS X 10.6.8.

  2. Hey,

I need a bit help here before i can start with the tutorials how to install OS X on an AMD PC. i've searched on GOOGLE for an answer but couldn't find any! so i hop some of you can give me an advice if it's possible to install and run OS X on my system

I have an AMD processor (AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 5000+)

    Mainboard K9A2 Platinum (MS-7376)chipset AMD 790FX southbridge ATI SB600

    RAM: 3GB

    Graphics ATI Radeon HD 5450

    Grtz!

Read on and check the requirements for AMD's:

  3. Hi,

I got hold of the GM Mountain Lion. I have 10.7.4 working fine on the D630 (see mu guide). Upon booting into the 10.8 installer, it goes very slowly after ACPI System state, and stops at PCI Configuration Begin. Any ideas?

I tried replacing appleACPIplatform.kext but with no luck.

    Thanks,

    Seb

I was assuming you use the Extra bootpacks & myHack 3.1.2 on building your OS X ML install disk? Assuming you did, you missed one step after (1). replacing ACPIPlatform.kext on your Install disk. If you have a separate working OS X Lion partition, (2). performing a myFix/Quick on your install disk. This is a MUST!, what is does is that it copies the kext (ACPIPlatfrom.kext) into myHack.kext/Plugin that resides in S/L/E. If you are successful in installing OS X ML (hooray!), then, you must perform step 1(on your OS X ML partition not install disk) this time & step 2 also. (3). Install EDP 3.x. Good hacking and success comes to those who have patience.

  4. many thanks albert! :-) i test the sleep/wake functionality by sleeping it via ML's menu, the LCD went off, but both the power and bluetooth LED remain lighted - not sleeping; I couldnt wake it up, irregardless using keyboard or touchpad, only way is to force shtdown by long-pressing the power button.

followed your attachment to the dot, also didnt work for me on both 411 and 415 (the only choice i made differently was the kexts for touchpad and keyboard, myHack's didnt work out well, I chose ANV-Slice [4] instead, I dont think this will cause the unable to restart/shutdown issue, do you?).

looks like i may have done something wrong with my installation, will recreate the usb install disk, format and reinstall from scratch, keeping my fingers crossed.

i used myhack 3.1.2 to create the 10.8 GM install disk, D630's bootpack in /Extra during installation and then install chameleon via myHack.app after installation before runing EDP to configure the D630 previously, are these the correct steps?

any special setting i need to change or take note of in BIOS? (I am on A18).

my HDD is divided into 2 partitions on MBR, the 1st partition has win7 x64 in it and the 2nd partition ML

    thanks!

    :-)

Yes, that is what exactly I did. Happy hacking and have lots of patience!

  5. E.D.P Rev. 415 now has support for sleep enabler option on ml.

Enabled sleep on my system, it works, but the keyboard(option 1) didn't work for me but the trackpad works. Everything seems to work. Tested "sleep/wake" functionality and I can confirmed it worked on my D630.

  6. I'll try to replicate the configuration(too bad, there's no log of the selected configuration after the configuration process, is there?) that or I'l get the kext in my E/E folder.

    To potatohead,

    Update: 7/20/2012 9:55PM

Here's my D630 configuration process(attached). I have a question for you, when you said it didn't work for you, how did you tests the "sleep/wake" functionality?

  7. Tried to Install a D630 with NVIDIA and 10.8 gm but the machine hangs at:

    ACPI: System State [s0 S3 S4 S5]

    Using different parameters like -f -v -x mach_kernel or arch=x86_64 ...

    Any idea?

    Here, try this.

    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>

    <!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd">

    </dict>

    </plist>

Worked for me after OS X ML GM install. Download EDP 3.x and select your configuration.

  8. didnt work for me, pity.

using EDP 411 D630 nvidia and D830 nvidia config, both restart / shutdown and sleep didnt work with the kext u attached.

what is the config u used (together with the sleep kext attached) to get everything working?

    thkq :-)

I'll try to replicate the configuration(too bad, there's no log of the selected configuration after the configuration process, is there?) that or I'l get the kext in my E/E folder.

  9. got it, thanks.

weird thing is rebuilding cache does NOT ALWAYS work (90% of the times it works; still yet to find a trend), so running myFix (quick or full) is not a foolproof solution.

so far I can confirm default config for d630 and d830 nvidia (without sleep) does not work properly on d630 nvidia.

will continue to try and report back :-)

This kext (attached) works for me (D630-nvidia). Sleep/wake works!

Use KextWizard to import it to E/E folder. Run myFix/Quick, reboot, voila "peanut-butter" sandwich.!:-)

    SleepEnabler.kext.zip

  10. Thanks for the reply, can you elaborate on 'try another configuration'?

I have tried doing away with nullcpumanagement and voodoopstate, changing ps2 kexts, all to no avail - are these 'trying another configuration'?

From what I have observed, the unable to shutdown / restart problem seems to be kernel cache or cache in general related.

In other words, if some actions are done prior to system shutting down or restarting that makes the system needing to rebuild cache, the system WILL shutdown or restart properly.

    :-)

I meant to say run "./edptool.command" to load another configuration. But it seems that you just need to run myFix/Quick to reconfigure cache if that is what you are suspecting. I had the same failure with restart/shutdown, so I reconfigure(try another configurations to optimized your system (D630, D830 whatever system you have). in this forum, there is no proposed configuration for D630/D630/etc. system. We're still trying to figure it out. Sharing is important in the forum and if members don't share the best optimized system for D630/D630/etc. then those that are struggling will keep on 'hacking". There's no end. So, I hope members SHARE!.

I am in the middle of testing I believe the best configuration for D630 but holding on till I have done extensive tests before I share them. I've found a kext for SleepEnabler.kext that works on my D630 so far, I will share later on. On my configuration/tests, graphics acceleration was not acceptable on this OS X ML GM; I will submit Xbench tests later. At the moment. keep the patience and keep on 'hacking" and then share.

  11. I am having restart / shutdown issues on my nvidia D630 running 10.8 GM and EDP 410.

Used edp's recommended kexts (other than removing sleepenabler) / dsdt / smbios / boot.plist for D630 nvidia + modified io80211Family.kext for AR9285 wifi; all in /E/E. The version of Chameleon is the one that comes with myHack 3.1.2

The only time I can get restart / shutdown to work properly is immediately after running myFix Full, any other time choosing restart / shutdown will just make the screen go blank, any attempt to press the on/off button will bring the screen back to life to the login screen. The only way to shutdown is to long press the on/off button to force the issue.

I am running 10.8 on MBR partition with Win 7 dual boot, 2x2GB RAM.

I have tried changing chameleon version, re-running EDP and myFix Full, all to no avail.

I am at my wits end, any insights / inputs greatly appreciated.

    :-)

Try another configuration, I have the same system D630 + nvidia. And run myFix/Full because it's another configuration (kext's).

  12. Yes I know AirParrot, on my Optiplex 755 it is not very useful, i think the cpu has not enough power. I will get my D630 with NVidia soon, is Airparrot working fine to you?

Yes, AirParrot will do the job. It actually work. If you run Activity monitor, you'll see the CPU workload. AirParrot should be the only application running. That is why it's better to get demo first to see if it works for you.

  13. Finally,my D630 was up-to-date with the OS X ML GM; thanks to EDP 3.x guide. I just follow it by the letter and the EDP was installed up to 358. I still think that the GM will not be the final release because I noticed that iPhoto (hanging up) was having a problem or it just might be iPhoto (9.31) version. I think they still have few bugs to fix (my opinion). I don't know, they just might release it and fix the bugs later:-)

  14. Hi there,

Is it possible to use AirPlay mirroring on the D630 with ML?

    Cheers,

    Peter

Unfortunately NO, per OS X ML requirements, only early 2011 or newer Apple products (h.264 decoding in the GPU) are allowed in Airplay Mirroring. The GPU handles most of the processing and less for the CPU, thus cooler products. You can use AirParrot application for $10.00 in the Mac AppStore that does the same functional as AirPlay Mirroring. BTW, the temperature, it's the CPU/GPU that does the workload!

I used it and yes, it does the work. Try the demo and then buy it.

  15. Hi I also installed on an D830 with help of Myhack and ML GM version an working mountain Lion version.. I used EDP2.2 with the configuration number 12 (Nvidia) and options 4.Y.Y.Y . An KP occurred ( that is normal ) EDP3 i cannot get this to work ( i am an Newbie ) After reboot I also fighting with the same issue I noticed that when you click on the spacebar at the right moment just before the screen turns black the system is booting up .. ( just an tester ) I discovered that Iphoto won't work ??? Imovie yes but just not Iphoto I don't known if this will help you..

    Good luck

I did not install EDP because SleepEnabler.kext creates Kernel Panic. in my Extra folder are the Generic kext that I choose during the installation plus BCM5722D.kext, VoodooBattery.kext, VoodooHDA.kext & VoodooPState.kext and the dsdt.aml for my system D630. I installed PStateMenu application and put in my startup application.

And that's about it. Will install EDP later on finality.
