Thanks for the update. That's a pretty hefty score with all those apps in the Finders bar. Not sure of the difference to be honest, probably something minor as always. Anyhow, my machine is v.snappy with that score and v.happy, but we all want to push it, that little further. Then the Build breaks ... As for the SSD Trim, I thought I saw somewhere where it was disabled, maybe an older E6220 blog/build. I did TRIM it before on 10.10.3 with TRIM enabler app i think. Well it changed the TRIM support option in the SysInfo to Yes. But have re-built since then. So will try that also. Thanks Herve for your advice, and no benchmark races just yet

Thanks for the quick response Herve. I will definitely looked into the SMBIOS fix. As for the CPU check, there isn't much happening in the background as the build is fairly new. It's an observation at the mo and really happy with the build and is super fast compared to my beloved D630. Even though I am missing the ModularBay's some what. The only issue now is iMessage like all other users at the mo. I know message_debug fails with the ROM and MLB. I don't want to waste all the time changing ROM's and MLB's, if it can't be achieved, so could you please let me know if this build/chameleon/FileNVRAM will work with iMessage with the correct setup. Thanks once again. CLM

Hi all, I recently followed the great guide of Herve's E6220 Yosemite installation and I'm so happy with this build and laptop. I checked the GeekBench result which showed around (4800 - 4900) for my system. I noticed the guide showed a GB result of (6098), which was taken from a finely tuned Mavericks system. I presume the Yosemite build would have the same result or better, or would it decrease due to the OS change. I followed the guide accurately, but I was wondering if I could have missed anything obvious as I am still learning from this. If anyone could help with this please then great. That got it thru, thanks guys for all your help. all working in yosemite 10.10.3

Thanks for the quick response Herve, it all makes sense now guys. I thought the app was just the first version. I will try it later on this evening and let you know how I get on. I can't give up on this latitude d630 just yet, we've been through too much. Plus the swapping the modular bay's help in these situations. Speak soon. Thanks so much

Thanks for your comments guys, I downloaded the Yosemite 10.10 app from the App Store (build 14D131a), so not sure of the version and if thats right. Is this 10.10.3 maybe ??? Is so, i will change the kernel to reflect. Sorry Herve, what's the DP app, is this the developer preview and where can i obtain this. The kernel I've been using is the Vanilla Kernel 10.10 - 10.10.1.zip from your link Hervé. I tried both the Extra bootpack from the osxlatitude site and the Yosemite pack Herve recommended with the link. Hopefully I can move forward with your help . thanks Please see KP attached.

I am finding this setup a little harder than previous OSX's. I know I've left something major out, so if someone could help then I would very much appreciate it. - I have created a USB Installer Key from the OS X Yosemite app. using --- https://osxlatitude.com/index.php?/topic/7478-dell-latitude-e6xxxe7xxx-yosemite-install-guide/ Except I used the patched kernel file from Herve's post, being Vanilla_kernel_10.10-10.10.1.zip ?? - and the Extra folder from the D630 10.10 Bootpack. - AHCI true - many versions of Chameleon to the USB I get the Panic on the running the USB boot (with -v -f flags) I am being naive here that I can get Yosemite running without Clover? Hope you can help guys

About the same, thanks Axel. Any of you guys have any other SSD brands that perform better on SATA 2 and OSX.

I have just installed a Crucial M500 SSD on a Dell 630 Nvid A17 10.9.2 and was wondering if my read-write speeds for SATA 2 are correct please. APPSTORE BLACKMAGIC RESULTS :- Write : 135 mb/s Read : 250 mb/s The read result looks good, but is the Write speed normal please ? and how does this compare to other peoples own SSD drive (Sata2). Thanks

I managed to resolve this issue by installing SwitchResX and creating a Display Set.
-
Thanks for reply. I had it working too on D620 SL but recently upgraded to D630 and Mountain Lion. I guess the the docking process under the DSTD is different.

I too have managed to get the DVI (external monitor) working via the PR01X dock. but even with the laptop lid closed (docked). The OS still thinks the laptop's screen is available. i.e I can move an application from the external vdu to the closed laptop screen and also the display settings show two monitors arranged. I presume this setup would put extra pressure on the CPU/GPU. Any simple OS tricks guys to just have the 1 external monitor. This worked well with D620 and SL but I think that may have been a DSDT hack. (HasLid) ?? Cheers

Wow. I did all those things u mentioned and what an improvement, I jumped up to 3100 on geek bench. Now the system feels right, a few issues under the hood. But the major ones are gone and hopefully I can sort them out myself. Thanks once again and maybe I will go for the Penryn soon;)
-
thanks for such a quick response Hervé. Legend. I will definitely give your response a go. I have seen some of your previous posts regarding the Penryn CPU, so will now look to that too. I will get back to this post and let you know how it goes. My plists supplied are okay then, any room for improvements?? I thought I was missing something.

Hi everyone, would like to clarify something with my build. I have the system up and running and am enjoying Mountain Lion. specs, D630 4GB T7250 Nvidia, BIOS A17, HDD So thanks to everyone who made this possible. Basically my Apple SysInfo will not show the 4GB (2x2) installed , it only shows 3GB. Is this the norm??, I thought the system was 64-bit and 4gb would show (not like XP) and and any future RAM enhancements would show too. I also checked ' my geekbench results(1980 Multi) and when comparing the same spec with others. Theirs seemed to be far higher, so was wondering if am actually on the 64 bit kernel. Hopefully if someone with the expertise could point my in right direction and spot my silly mistake(s) :0 Thanks Guys My extra extensions :- AppleACPIPlatform AppleACPIPS2Nub ApplePS2Controller BCM5722D FakeSMC (v5) IOATAFamily ispcidrv Patched_10.7_AppleRTC VoodooTSCSync My smbios.plist <key>SMbiosdate</key> <string>10/29/08</string> <key>SMbiosvendor</key> <string>Apple Inc.</string> <key>SMbiosversion</key> <string>MB51.88Z.0073.B06.0810291326</string> <key>SMboardmanufacter</key> <string>Apple Inc.</string> <key>SMboardproduct</key> <string>Mac-F42D89C8</string> <key>SMboardversion</key> <string>PVT</string> <key>SMfamily</key> <string>MacBook</string> <key>SMmanufacter</key> <string>Apple Inc.</string> <key>SMmanufacturer</key> <string>Apple Inc.</string> <key>SMmemspeed</key> <string>667</string> <key>SMmemtype</key> <string>19</string> <key>SMproductname</key> <string>MacBook5,1</string> <key>SMserial</key> <string>CK97834351234567</string> <key>SMsystemversion</key> <string>1.0</string> And my chameleon.plist :- <key>EnableC2State</key> <string>Yes</string> <key>EnableC3State</key> <string>Yes</string> <key>EnableC4State</key> <string>Yes</string> <key>EthernetBuiltIn</key> <string>Yes</string> <key>GraphicsEnabler</key> <string>Yes</string> <key>Kernel</key> <string>mach_kernel</string> <key>Kernel Flags</key> <string>-v</string> <key>Theme</key> <string>Default</string> <key>Timeout</key> <string>10</string> <key>USBBusFix</key> <string>Yes</string> <key>UseKernelCache</key> <string>Yes</string> <key>arch</key> <string>x86_64</string>
