  1. I managed to get native speedstep working using MBP 6,2 and removing DropSSDT=yes and ssdt.aml, but I am unsure if turbo is working. As far as I can see, I'm getting 7 pstates x7 - x14. My CPU runs from 980MHz to 1.96GHz according to HWMonitor app. I have no way of checking to see if turbo ever kicks in, because the Intel Power Gadget for mac only works on Gen 2 and above. MSRDumper and AppleIntelCpuPowerManagementInfo.kext don't work because they apparently don't support the Gen 1 CPUs. Is there any other possible way to verify that turbo works or not?
  2. Here are the files extracted. I am unsure what to do with them. Would it be much trouble to walk me through the patching process?
  3. Ok, well here is the attempt with DropSSDT=yes and removing GeneratePStates and CStates. MBP 8,2 SMBIOS and fakesmc set to MBP 8,2 SMC version. Read HFS+ file: [hd(0,2)/Extra/DSDT.aml] 47484 bytes. Read HFS+ file: [hd(0,2)/Extra/SSDT.aml] 713 bytes. ACPI table not found: SSDT-1.aml FADT: changing PM_Profile from 0x00 to 0x02 FADT: ACPI Restart Fix applied! FADT: Using custom DSDT! RSDT: Added 1 SSDT table(s) FADT: ACPI Restart Fix applied! FADT: Using custom DSDT! Added 1 SSDT table(s) into XSDT Only 1 insertion now... this is really odd...
  4. For the life of me, I cannot get speedstep fully working on my system. Turbo doesn't work at all as far as I can tell. ML 10.8.4 i7 740QM (1.73 Ghz) 8Gb DDR3 667 AMD HD5870M Using MBP 6,1 SMBIOS After generating my SSDT with ssdtPRGen, and another attempt using MaciASL, with the correct values of 45W TDP, 2390 Turbo, this is what Chameleon shows me on bootup: Read HFS+ file: [hd(0,2)/Extra/SSDT.aml] 713 bytes. ACPI table not found: SSDT-1.aml FADT: changing PM_Profile from 0x00 to 0x02 FADT: ACPI Restart Fix applied! Found ACPI CPU: CPU0 Found ACPI CPU: CPU1 Found ACPI CPU: CPU2 Found ACPI CPU: CPU3 Found ACPI CPU: CPU4 Found ACPI CPU: CPU5 Found ACPI CPU: CPU6 Found ACPI CPU: CPU7 P-States: min 0x7, max 0x9 SSDT with CPU P-States generated successfully RSDT: Added 2 SSDT table(s) FADT: ACPI Restart Fix applied! Added 2 SSDT table(s) into XSDT I'm only getting 2 P-States here, with the highest one being my CPU's base frequency, 1.73 GHz. When I attempt to see what P-States have been reached with AppleIntelCPUPowerManagementInfo.kext, using: cat /var/log/system.log | grep "AICPUPMI:" I get this output: Jun 21 12:32:10 localhost kernel[0]: AICPUPMI: CPU P-States [ ] Attempting to use MSRDumper gives me this output: /Users/trey/Desktop/MSRDumper.kext failed to load - (ipc/mig) server died; check the system/kernel logs for errors or try kextutil(8). I am baffled. I am going to upload my files and see if anyone can spot something I've missed. Included in zip: dsdt.aml ssdt.aml org.chameleon.Boot.plist smbios.plist m17x-r2-speedstep.zip
  5. I changed nothing from what EDP 1.9.2 placed on my system. So what ever the issue is, is either related to an EDP kext or lack of one... Idunno. And also, I have had this problem on more than one D630 when trying to use an Atheros based airport card.
  6. Mods, you may want to move and sticky this thread. If you have an older copy of the 10.6.8 Combo DMG that you downloaded before March 23rd, 2012, the Apple certificate has expired and it will not install. You will need to redownload the combo from Apple again. They have updated the certificates.
  7. You could try using EFI Studio to add the NIC as an EFI string in com.chameleon.boot.plist (< lol I think that's the name) I had to do this a few days ago on a Dell Optiplex 755 SFF to get the Appstore to work.
  8. Well, what do you know? I just installed a random non-apple Broadcom 4312 I had laying around and it's working. Nice to have native Airport again. But this Atheros based true airport issue DOES need to be looked into. It's really odd that a real MBP Airport card would cause these issues. :/
  9. None. I get kernel panics on one other true airport card as well. AR5BXB6 WTF? It says the back trace is related to BCM4322.kext or something. WTF? This is an atheros card. Ugh I cannot figure out for the life of me why it's not loading the OSX drivers for these cards.
  10. Ah thanks for the heads up. Doubt I'll dual boot. I'll just stick with SL. (Just installed SL on an Optiplex 755 last night.)
  11. I will def try it for SL if Lion doesn't work out. At some point today, I'm gonna try doing a fresh Lion install. Hopefully Lion plays nice with Logic Pro 9. *crossing fingers*
  12. Isn't that for a base station? This is an internal wlan card. This is happening on SL 10.6.8
  13. The airport card is an Atheros5006EX with ID 168c. I am stumped as to why this is happening. I was previously using another true Apple card that was N capable and it worked fine as it should, being a vanilla card. Any ideas?
  14. Fantastic! Glad to hear this worked for you.
