  1. Well, your second link shows this: Requirements: 1. 8gb USB pen 2. OSX SL 10.6.0 image (not anything higher) 3. a working OSX machine So, yes, you need a mac. For me, with only PCs, I followed the USB pen method and used an OSX VM running in VMWare workstation on Win 7. Worked fine.
  2. Thanks for the input. I have it working now. Lucky for me that booting from the usb pen with -x -v would get me into 10.7.2. I did that, and then re-downloaded the boot pack for D630, then manually moved all files into /Extra on the Lion HD, overwriting the existing files. I then re-ran edp, choosing the same options as were working previously, and let it rebuild the kernel cache, etc. Waited a few min, for that to complete, then re-installed Chameleon as well. Removed USB key and rebooted. It booted to the login screen with no problem! I haven't found anything yet that doesn't work. Here is what is working in 10.7.2: Accelerated Video. Plays 720p youtube HD videos. Sound - no issues so far, vol up/down/mute work. Wifi - no issues. Haven't tried wired ethernet yet. Sleep - no issues on sleep/wake. Closing Lid to sleep/Opening to wake works too. Multi Displays - I can connect VGA cable to my Dell monitor without issue. Mirroring displays works with no issue (it would scramble the display when I did this in 10.7) DVD Burner Haven't tried: firewire Don't have : Bluetooth module I am hopeful that this build is stable, time will tell I guess. Now, if I could only have things go this smoothly on my D830 .. I really miss the crisp 1920x1200 display, way nicer than this lower res screen on the D630.
  3. Installed OSX Lion on D630 ,2Ghz CPU, Nvidia graphics, 1280x800 using usb pen method. 10.7 ran fine. Installed EDP/Chameleon. No Issues. Installed 10.7.1 update. No Issues. Installed 10.7.2 combo update. Now, it boots but I get a blackscreen right when (I think) it wants to start the GUI. If I boot with -x -v, it boots up with no issues. I have tried re-running edp and re-installing Chameleon, still no luck. I see this forum peppered with people already on 10.7.2 with their D630's. Can anyone share their update method? Please?
  4. Hi, Excellent forum, I have taken up the challenge of getting OSX Lion running on a D830 w. Intel GMA card (1920x1200 screen), latest A15 BIOS. I did reset BIOS to default and change disk mode. I have created a USB drive install disk from retail 10.7 DVD. Having some issues though: - Install goes OK. Most stuff works on first boot (bluetooth, wifi, graphics acceleration/screen resolution). After first login, I run EDP tool (tried EDP 2.1 and 2.2 so far) and answer the questions. Install Chameleon included with EDP as well. - Another reboot, and I install 10.7.1 combo update and reboot, and this is where things get bad. Typically, the system will completely freeze (unresponsive to mouse/keyboard, HD light stays lit too) after anywhere from 5 minutes to an hour. Before that, the Latitude's keyboard and trackpad work fine. At this point I have to do a hard reset using the power button. - After a hard reset, boot freezes at various points before the GUI loads. Sometimes I see things like 'mac_osx swapon completed' or 'DSMOS has arrived'. - Doing a -x from boot options, it seems to start checking the disk, but again freezes (left it for hours, no disk activity or keyboard responsiveness). - Have tried booting into the installer and using disk utility to verify/repair disk - does some stuff but boot still gets stuck at same spots. I have also: Tried different options in EDP tool (applePS driver, the other choices as well), using the powermanagement option/not using it, using emulated speedstep/not using it. Tried with both EDP 2.1 and 2.2, with no long term luck. Have run through about 10 installs so far! I have also tried 10.7.2 combo update, same issues. As far as I can tell, I can run the non-updated 10.7 (except that sleep wont work - the latitude goes to sleep but immediately wakes up again on its own) till the cows come home, its the upgrade that seems to be messing stuff up. Can anyone help/comment on this situation.
