In the first post of this thread Mariusz gives instructions for using VoodooHDA 2.7.3 with some into.plist editing, I presume that would work for you (again, I've never used Snow Leopard on this machine, so I can't verify). Sleep is an issue that plagues many on many machines, on this it has been difficult. Mariusz also shows how to enable suspend to RAM just past his audio info, it's what I use.

While confessing I've had little experience with Snow Leopard on this particular machine, sleep is a challenge on this for most OS X versions. If the only other issue is audio, I might suggest that you look for a kext that has shown success in this unit and give it a shot, using something like kext wizard.

What OS are you installing (Lion or ML) and which revision (such as 10.7.? or 10.8.?)? As updates were added there were kexts that needed to be deleted or replaced. If attempting ML, I have a Guide in the thread "Mountain Lion Anyone" for installation on your machine. However, if using 10.8.2 to start with, kexts need to be changed (I haven't had the time to update the guide). Keep in mind you might need to change your Wi-Fi card in you don't have a supported one (If you have one labeled "Intel", it won't work - swap it for a Dell DW 1510).

I am personally not a fan of wireless dongles, particularly the minis as they tend to have limited range and are often more expensive than decent wireless cards. That being said, I have seen articles advocating using different USB ports with different rates of success, so you might try that. If you continue to have an issue, I would go with a Dell 1510 (search ebay for DW934, they are sometimes cheaper when listed that way).

On these models, true sleep generally doesn't appear to work. Some have indicated that it works for them, but I am not sure if it is true sleep. I use only sleep to ram, which serves my purposes. In this thread there are others who have offered suggestions on enabling sleep, you may want to try one (or more, if not successful) of those.

Thank You. Although I compiled it, there was a team effort that worked in everyone's best interest. It was constantly updated with their input.

That is a card that is unsupported for running OSx. You will need to replace it.

See if replacing the kexts with these takes care of your issue:Nvidia 10.8.2.zip

What Wi-Fi card is installed in your system?

Go to the first post in this thread. There is a comprehensive guide to installation.

Jason, The 10.8.2 update affects the NVidia kexts. The best approach is to use the 10.8.2 Combo Update from the Apple website (make sure not to use the Server update). Make sure Kext Wizard is installed on your system (I keep it in applications). Prior to installing the update, download the 10.8.2 NVidia kexts, the AppleAPCIPlatform.kext and you may need to re-install VoodooHDA.kext (2.7.4). After downloading, move them to your desktop. Download the 10.8.2 Combo update and install (you may get an error that install failed - it most likely didn't). Before restarting, use kext wizard to install the NVidia 10.8.2 kexts and AppleACPIPlatorm.kext to S/L/E, repair permissions with Disk Utility and reboot. It should reboot normally. Check sound. If necessary, re-install VoodooHDA.kext. If all is well, move the kexts to trash and you're done. If any problems, post here and someone will be happy to assist you further.

Please note how the article you linked to notes that using MyHack automatically takes care of this boot error.

The VoodooHDA KP is caused by NVidia Graphics needing to be re-edited (they were changed during the 10.8.2 update). I posted a link to the edited kexts at the bottom of the first post. Use Kext Wizard and replace them as with any other kexts. It may be the issue with keyboard and mouse also. Let me know.
-
See if re-installing the PS2 kexts help the keyboard and mouse issue. Occasionally the VoodooHDA can cause that also (try reinstalling). On mine (an E6500), BIOS is A27, however, I believe those on E6400 are on BIOS revision A32. On Lion, did you update to 10.7.5? Let us know where the KP is after Verbose boot.

See if these attached kexts work better on your system. untitled folder.zip

The kexts that were posted were for these (E6400/E6500) models. I am mobile right now, but I will post edited kexts for your graphics card when I am not mobile, that should work better with your card. The kexts are edited for specific cards, and are not universal.

I presume he used the fix for 10.8.2 on a non E6400/E6500 machine with some success. I also presume the flickering has to do with the wrong device ID's, but want to be sure so I can give him the right one. EDIT:: I wasn't familiar with the card, but after googling it, I believe my presumptions are correct, it would be a really tough fit LOL.
-
When you say it works, were you referring to an original installation of ML, or the fix for 10.8.2? Feedback is good so we can know if there is more tinkering to be done. Also is the GTS450 in a E6400/E6500 machine?
-
I'm assuming you installed all three kexts that were in the folder, did you also attempt the other kext? Also your other issue is a cosmetic one. Those values are based on the Apple model used in your Extra/smbios.plist, that is the model used to set up your hackintosh. The issue is cosmetic and doesn't affect performance.

And right you are. Prior to updating to 10.7.5, I updated my EDP from v3 r424 to v3 r431 just to play it safe. I also downloaded Kext Wizard and the problematic kexts to my desktop just in case. After download, Install and reboot, a smooth transition into 10.7.5. Repaired permissions afterward (something I've always done after any downloads for the OS), and took it for a test ride without a hitch. Thanks DaFOB and Herve!

I agree, working together has benefited all of us and spared others some of the trails and tribulations, or provided solutions for common problems. I noticed in your signature you have updated a D430 to 10.7.5, I have one plus the E6500 that needed updating, was that uneventful for you?
-
A bow to you, Mr. DaFOB. I swapped out my AppleACPIPlatform.kext and edited my three NVidia kexts as per your post and Viola!, I have my ML Partition back. Leave it to Apple to bring back an old Nemesis, the ol' NVidia kext in a different costume. I will post the fix in the Installation guide, giving proper credit where it is due. THANKS AGAIN.
-
Not at home at the moment, but will be trying the AppleACPIPlatform.kext when I go home. Thanks for the heads up on the NVidia kexts - I had read on another forum that they were a problem, but without any details. After I test, if that resolves the issue I'm having also, I'll add to the Guide, with links to the edited kexts (and credit to you - THANKS!).

After re-install, still an issue, even without the VoodooHDA.kext loaded. However, this time KP after stall at IOBluetoothHCIController - started - completed. I don't remember whether I reverted to the original AppleACPIPlatform.kext or I may have kept the modified one (since it wasn't an issue at the time). I may have to attempt to replace that to see if that is an issue as I see where some feel it impacts the timings on boot.
