Dell 5559: unable to boot OpenCore for Monterey
Didds replied to Didds's topic in Other Dell laptops
I have an update on this. Rebuilt the USB and it seemed to just go into the endless loop above but I left it running for hours this morning and it actually finished and I was able to setup my account and move the EFI partition over to the SSD and now it boots everytime. I have not had time to fully test it yet and it does seem a bit sluggish for an i5 with SSD and 8GB RAM. Maybe needs tweaking -
Dell 5559: unable to boot OpenCore for Monterey
Didds replied to Didds's topic in Other Dell laptops
Oh, I did not do that. I made a new installer on a new USB stick and the install went fine right to the very end and it seemed to get stuck in a loop. It said 'under one minute remaining' and I left it like this for 3 hours. I will remove CPUFriendDataProvider.kext from config and kexts and try again. Thanks All I seem to get now is this loop in the picture. Both if I try to reach the installer or if I continue with the install on the SSD Are any issues showing up in this screenshot Jake? -
Dell 5559: unable to boot OpenCore for Monterey

Thanks so much for your help, I will give it a try I will remove the CPUFriendDataProvider.kext I removed the CPUFriendDataProvider.kext and it made it to the installer and then kernel panic saying CPUFriendDataProvider.kext was missing. I replaced it and now its booted to the OS installer and I have formated the SSD and it has started installing Monterey. Fingers crossed now... I did run the config.plist through the validation check in opencore configurator but did not correct everything in there. Thanks for your help hopefully it will install fine now I spoke too soon -

You absolute star Jake.... This worked a treat. I rebuilt the installer with monterey and it installed fine. I copied over the EFI once installed and it boots great, wifi, HDMI, sound, trackpad and bluetooth all working fine. Thanks for your help

Oh wow thank you so much for that. I took a photo of the BIOS system info for you. I cant see any info about the trackpad on it though.

Hi Guys, For two days now I have been trying to install OSX on to this laptop the Dell E5450. I have seen both here and on YouTube much success on the install. I used to make hackintosh a few years ago and was given this laptop and thought I would have another go at it. I dont mind what OS provided its Catalina or newer. What is easier Clover or OpenCore? I have been trying to use OpenCore and now made installers and copied over various EFI folders, I have set the BIOS correctly and the the installer boots and I get to the install screen. I Erase the SSD and hit the installer everything look to be going well, I get a reboot back to the installer and I select my SSD and the installation continues with Apple logo and a 24 minute countdown under it. The system will reboot again so I select my SSD again and it seems to continue but after about 3 or 4 times of doing this it kind of gets stuck in a loop of the same thing and I never get to the setup screen. This same thing has happened with Catalina, Big Sur and Monterey, I build the installer and all looks to be going good and then that. I feel I am so close not cant seem to work out what is wrong here ****I have added an image of what it does before it reboots**** Any help would be great

Hi,thanks for the reply.Inside the iso ? I have a retail 10.6 disk and the D620SLV1.iso. If only i had a working os x to use the usb wiki method above I dont see why it started installing and now wont start again

D620 D620SLV1 boot problem: The first time i ran this disk i got my retail 10.6 to start installing it got to around 17 minutes left and i left the room to do other things, when i came back it said install failed! Now when i boot off the D620SLV1.iso after i put the retail disk in i get a : Memory Allocation error (0x4382c10, 0x0) Anyone have any ideas with this ? I booted iboot (chameleon, stolen and rebranded) and it seen the retail disk but does not get as far with the install. I just want my D620SLV1.iso to work ggrrrr
