Great guide ruorbe! Thanks for your hard work. I was a bit of a newbie. Did have to swap wireless PCIe adapter. After a little effort, I was able to get Mavericks 10.9.1 to work perfectly on my i3 K56CA ultrabook. Actually used same files and was able to load flawlessly on an ASUS X550CA as well. Go figure.
Found out that you don't actually need to install Clover. Can just copy your given EFI folder to the EFI partition after it is loaded. After editing default volume, machine specs, UUID, etc... and Clover just works.
For your information, HDMI video works flawlessly as well. Connected to my HDTV and it identifies it as a second monitor. Can mirror or extend display. No HDMI audio though. I am certain can be done somehow through DSDT edit if some effort was involved.
Only problems I encountered was non-functioning card reader as you mentioned, and loss of audio after upgrading to 10.9.2. Tried several workarounds, but was unable to get audio to work on upgrade. Not sure why. Had to re-install previous Mavericks version.
