  1. Thank you again for all your help. Here are the items you were asking for Your question: Can you list the kexts you have in /E/E and the version you use for FakeSMC? Is there a string of characters in your Chameleon boot plist Properties field? Kexts in E/ E Are: (Manually listed so bear with me if there are type-o's) AppleACPIPlatform.kext AppleACPIPS2Nub.kext AppleBCM5751Ethernet.kext AppleHDADisabler.kext FakeSMC.kext IntelCPUMonitor.kext NullCPUPowerManagement.kext SleepEnabler.kext VoodooBattery.kext VoodooHDA.kext VoodooPState.kext VoodooTSCSync.kext FakeSMC Version is: Version 4 String of Characters in Chameleon boot plist - properties? (was trying to figure out what you were looking for. Here is the content of the file I have) There were actually two listed. This is for the first one: org.chameleon.Boot.plist <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd"> <plist version="1.0"> <dict> <key>EHCIacquire</key> <string>Yes</string> <key>EthernetBuiltIn</key> <string>Yes</string> <key>ForceHPET</key> <string>Yes</string> <key>GenerateCStates</key> <string>Yes</string> <key>GeneratePStates</key> <string>Yes</string> <key>GraphicsEnabler</key> <string>Yes</string> <key>Kernel</key> <string>mach_kernel</string> <key>Kernel Flags</key> <string></string> <key>PciRoot</key> <string>1</string> <key>SystemType</key> <string>2</string> <key>Theme</key> <string>Default</string> <key>Timeout</key> <string>2</string> <key>UHCIreset</key> <string>Yes</string> <key>USBBusFix</key> <string>Yes</string> <key>UseKernelCache</key> <string>Yes</string> <key>arch</key> <string>i386</string> <key>device-properties</key> <string>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</string> </dict> </plist> ================= ================= This is now the content for the second one: org.chameleon.Boot.plist.plist bplist00—^UseKernelCacheSYes
  2. Any other suggestions for the hibernation / sleep issue? (Yes I did the sudo command) Is there any kexts which control that or other settings? Thanks
  3. Lots of progress. Started from scratch. Rebuild USB from scratch. Did build from scratch. I babied the install and moved the mouse for 30 min. I saw screens with prompts that I had never seen before. (which was good) Sound and Display was an issue. I looked via trial and error and found the folder using finder than using terminal once it gets hosed. I could not figure out how you directly extracted kexts from EDP using the folders. I ran EDP The EDP failed at the ACPIPlatform like before. I located the Extra / Extensions folder in both the USB and the install drive I copied pasted all the kexts from the USB Extra / extensions to the hard drive extra extensions. I ran my fix from the My hack app. Sound suddenly worked. I was able to reboot and boot up successfully and not have it fail on boot. I did run the sudo command to fix the hibernation. It did not solve the problem. I removed the options for the display to sleep to never in the preferences. Is there any way to fix that? On a laptop having a recoverable sleep would help with battery life. Once we get this fixed I am going to write up a full end to end instructions (so if there are others like me they can just have those and not drive you guys crazy like I have) I started to write them tonight. Thank you for your patience and continued support.
  4. Thank you very much. I am in the process of rebuilding the bootable USB to start over to see if I can do this smarter next time. When you said "These kexts will be available through the EDP system build. If you want to install them manually, simply copy them to /E/E and run myFix (quick)." Where I am copying them from? I realize that may sound stupid, but I haven't figured that out. Sorry if this is a dumb question. On my host mac I am trying to see if I can make it part of the USB, I downloaded the EDP and saw if I could extract or see the files... no dice... it seems to be inside the app. Is there a way to pull out the kexts from the EDP, or perhaps they are called something else? The problems I am trying to resolve are ------------------- 1. Sound -- VoodooHDA (or patched STAC9205) kextpack? 2. Hibernation (you gave me the fix to use) 3. LAN port (which I did not mention before. I have wireless working, (well before I did I bet it will work again when I rebuild) I get amber lights, not green ones.
  5. It is a D820 Nvidia I believe is the type Thank you for that. Where do I find this - VoodooHDA (or patched STAC9205) kextpack? Do you know of any instructions to manually install them? Thank you for the tip on the hibernation. Thank you
  6. Tried removing the file and all it did was hang at a blue screen when it rebooted. I am going start the whole process over from scratch to see if I can find out what I did wrong here. Dumb Question - When you load the OSX from the USB (with the my hack stuff too) why do you have to run EDP again once it is installed to make stuff work? When you create the Install USB shouldn't that pick up the right kexts to begin with? The only reason I ran EDP again was to address two issues 1. No voice / sound 2. Hibernation...soon as that happens I get an unrecoverable black screen. Is there another way to address this issue than running EDP again post install? So again this is what I did 1. Ran install USB... used utilities to wipe drive... installed my hack... and Chameleon, Extras and all the right stuff. 2. From the USB loaded OSX. It loads... stops at a certain point and the screen goes black... I am assuming that it stopped... (if it is hibernating then I have no idea how to stop it from hibernating during the OSX install.) 3. Reboot OSX loads...get welcome screen and all that jazz. I get wireless connections... but no sound... no hibernation control. (I can reboot in this state with no issues) 4. Go to the OSX Site... load the EDP. Run the build .... get a kext (one above) was not or had problem installing ... reboot... will not reboot. 5. Got access to the drive via the USB..tried renaming the kext... get a blue screen and no further. 6. Tried to go back and rename the kext back to what it was and then the same issue above happens again.. Any ideas? Thank you
  7. Silly question in between - When I have been doing this I can't get it to boot up to the MAC to run EDP. So the only solution that I have seen is to wipe the drive, Instally my hack (all the parts), Install Snow Leopard, then install EDP .... then do the custom option .... Is this correct? Or is there a short cut? Thank you
  8. Troublehooted a bit using the - x - v. The cause is this kext apple.driver.apple.driver.AppleACPIPPlatform I have rebuilt machine 3x with same issue. When rebooting after install, edp fixes, software updates etc machine will not boot. I get an error that the boot o not loaded (something like that) Another text screen appears saying to shut down a restart. In order to recover I had to do the build from scratch. Erased drive, Installed My hack items, installed Snow Leopard, Then loaded EDP. Loaded custom scripts and tools which fixed the sound. In other threads it says if you have an issue with rebooting to use Chameleon Wizard? How / where do you get to that? I have not been able to figure that out. There is a Chameleon module in EDP but not sure what to do. Baby steps please, What should I do next? Thank you for your help. I did use the -x - v to troubleshoot Here is the message that appears when you boot: (I manually typed this so there might be some small types) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- npvhash - 4095 PAE Enabled 64 bit mode enabled Darwin Kernel version 10.3.0 : Fri feb 26 11:58:09 PST 2010; root xnu 1504.3.12-1/Release I386 vm_page_bootstrap: 507833 free pages and 16455 wired pages standard time slicing quantum is 10000 us mig_table_max_dispt = 73 SAFE BOOT DETECTED - only valid OSBundleRequired kexts will be loaded kext_kernal is not loadable during safe boot: omitting is personalities. kxldfcom.apple.apple.driver.apple.driver.AppleACPIPPlatform the super class votable .... blah blah blah is out of date make sure your kext has been built against he correct headers. 9. Quick update via ebay I ordered a wireless card. I literally installed it, booted up and within 5 min it auto recognized the card and the airport was ACTIVE. Thank you very much for the Guidance here. For reference I replaced the Intel Wireless Card with the following card Dell DW 1490. Works awesome. I then went back to the OSX site and ran EDP tools. I ran the custom build and it fixed the sound problem (Still have a LAN issue, but working that though another thread.) Thanks again
  10. Thank you very much. I have put in an order for one of the supported cards. Fingers crossed. Thank you again
  11. I think I have the intel card... although I am not sure. I have installed the my hack and the wireless doesn't work. A person suggested that I switch out the card for another card. Question is what card to buy? This is for a Dell D820 I need 2.4 GHZ and 5 G reception. There are a few options out there, is there one which works better than others? Thank you
  12. I will be honest with you. I am little lost on this. I have looked at the thread and the indications. This is what I do not understand - For the boot pack I can't tell if it includes the drivers or not. I am assuming that it should. Does it not and you need to get them elsewhere? There are some references to doing surgery to the texts which I assume are the drivers. However I am not sure what it is referring to. Sorry I am a bit new to all this... I need baby steps if possible Thank you for your patience in advance.
  13. Side Note: I have done all the basic network troubleshooting. I am using a known good connection. No issues with router or cabling etc. I am just not getting an IP address. I get straight amber and amber blinking light. I am betting this is a driver ( I am not familiar with the terms for mac) issue. Thanks
  14. Issue ------------------- Zero network connectivity with ethernet. No wireless network connectivity No Sound. Not sure of what else yet Was able to copy the version of EDP and put on USB. Tried to install but it stopped when said needs internet connection. Did I miss loading something? Is there a way to do this manually by loading on USB from good machine and porting over? Connected ethernet cable due to no wireless working, would not give me an ip address. Ran My Hack from USB again using the My fix (seeing if that would correct?) It didn't Looking for suggestions please
