anyone else having an issue where video locks up the system?

Here is my update. I have since installed and SSD drive and love it! I used the v14 extras to install ML on my 6520.

Sleep was not working

Web cam was not working

battery indicator not working

I installed the beta EDP app and got Sleep to work! very cool. I don't think the battery indicator works with any of the 3 options, but I will check again.

Webcam works in iMessage, but not in Facetime or PhotoBooth, I can live with this.

Trackpad works, but no gestures or scrolling. And the joystick is terrible. I like a mouse, so i can live with this as well.

If we could get the battery indicator to work i would be willing to call it complete.

Yes, this worked... THank you. Initial testing... sleep does not work and wireless. I am guessing I need to upgrade my wireless card.

Sound is not working either. Help on this?

Dear Metzz,

 

I was informed by a crew member that the E6320 is similar to E6220 except for the different screen size. So you can try the Extra bootpack and EDP for E6320 and let us know if there are any issues. We can then fine tune further from there.

These don't do much more for me. No change for battery indicator. not sure about sleep. Sleep no worky too.

I reinstalled OS X ML and my reboot works again from Hard Drive Bootloader. Verbose is gone in the new extra and the white OSX LATITUDE boot screen loads fine into login.

I put an audio CD in the tray and OS X read it immediately and opened iTunes. The audio plays successfully and I can skip tracks and everything. Audio CD is listed in the finder. Eject feature from finder pops the tray open. But, the eject logo at the top of the screen still says "no drives" even when the audio CD is listed in finder. Cannot eject from there. I am on Extra v 13 (2). Trackpad and joystick work fine (no 2-finger). No battery still.

Webcam is present in System Report under USB devices as Laptop_Integrated_Webcam_FHD - It does not work in Photo Booth, but works in Facetime. However, in facetime the video quality is terrible.

Sleep still does not work.

Battery - loaded voodoo battery kext - Battery Icon now present, but has X in the middle, no batteries present.

Also has occasional video tear, one horizontal line. I can live with it thus far.

I have not had a ton of time to test, but thus far, things are working. Display went to sleep on me and would not wake. Sound works. DISPLAY is KILLER!!! THANK YOU Mick! USB works. Wireless (atheros) works. LAN works. Seems to be pretty stable so far, but again, not a lot of time working on it. Should be able to this weekend.

Same issue here, I am not so sure its the graphics or the CHIPSET. However, I used this dsdt from this thread https://osxlatitude.com/index.php?/topic/1109-e6420-research-thread/page__st__40 and got high res, however it killed my USB. If I remove it, I get to login but shoddy graphics. We need the right combo of dsdt, but i'm not sure how to do that.

I will be willing to help where I can.

Ok, found some of the stuff I used before. Have not been able to test as my E6420 is at my work ATM.

 

Once you finish with the myhack to create an install image on USB stick you should rename the extra folder on the USB stick to extra1 or similar. Use my the extra folder from the zip file and place this on the USB stick.

 

Start install with usb keyboard, and when asked at the end of the install process what extra folder to use select the one from the USB stick.

 

Reboot and OSX should start now start with native res.

 

I got hdmi working by updating to 10.7.3 and editing the hd3000 binaries as described by bcc9 on other forums.

Well, this has been an adventure for me to say the least. The DSDT you provided gave me the high res on my HD3000 that I have been searching for! Bad news, it kills my USB. Any thoughts?
