  1. Awesome! Thank you so much for such a detailed explanation. I'm going to let this one marinate in my mind for a bit before taking action. From what I am gathering, I need to replace the CPU with SSE4 capable, any recommendations for CPU to make this thing super zippy or is the core duo enough? Then some tasks that are outside of my comfort zone, such as DSDT editing. But comfort zones are meant to broken 1st thing is first I need to decided the right CPU for this machine, I would prefer it do be something that can continue to be update over time. Any thoughts? Thanks so much again for clearing things up for me, I have a much clearer path now to achieving my objective.
  2. It's a Gateway SX2801-07e I've added an nvidia graphics card to it, everything else is stock. Here is the original thread when I first set it up: https://osxlatitude.com/index.php?/topic/6818-post-installation-so-the-journey-begins-here/
  3. Thanks for the reply Jake Lo, Yeah I thought so, definitely don't want to go the mac store route... Do you know where I can find Herve's guide that you speak of? Thanks!
  4. Hi All, It's been a while, My hackintosh has been working well the last 2 years running Mavericks 10.9 which I installed with MyHack. I'm looking to update to the latest OS, and while updating through the mac store is mighty tempting I felt consulting with the forum may be best to do first. I appreciate any and all guidance, advice, feedback... Thank you Below is my lscpi -nn output: pcilib: 0000:01:00.0 64-bit device address ignored. pcilib: 0000:01:00.0 64-bit device address ignored. 00:00.0 Host bridge [0600]: Intel Corporation 4 Series Chipset DRAM Controller [8086:2e20] (rev 03) 00:01.0 PCI bridge [0604]: Intel Corporation 4 Series Chipset PCI Express Root Port [8086:2e21] (rev 03) 00:19.0 Ethernet controller [0200]: Intel Corporation 82567V-2 Gigabit Network Connection [8086:10ce] 00:1a.0 USB controller [0c03]: Intel Corporation 82801JI (ICH10 Family) USB UHCI Controller #4 [8086:3a37] 00:1a.1 USB controller [0c03]: Intel Corporation 82801JI (ICH10 Family) USB UHCI Controller #5 [8086:3a38] 00:1a.2 USB controller [0c03]: Intel Corporation 82801JI (ICH10 Family) USB UHCI Controller #6 [8086:3a39] 00:1a.7 USB controller [0c03]: Intel Corporation 82801JI (ICH10 Family) USB2 EHCI Controller #2 [8086:3a3c] 00:1b.0 Audio device [0403]: Intel Corporation 82801JI (ICH10 Family) HD Audio Controller [8086:3a3e] 00:1c.0 PCI bridge [0604]: Intel Corporation 82801JI (ICH10 Family) PCI Express Root Port 1 [8086:3a40] 00:1d.0 USB controller [0c03]: Intel Corporation 82801JI (ICH10 Family) USB UHCI Controller #1 [8086:3a34] 00:1d.1 USB controller [0c03]: Intel Corporation 82801JI (ICH10 Family) USB UHCI Controller #2 [8086:3a35] 00:1d.2 USB controller [0c03]: Intel Corporation 82801JI (ICH10 Family) USB UHCI Controller #3 [8086:3a36] 00:1d.7 USB controller [0c03]: Intel Corporation 82801JI (ICH10 Family) USB2 EHCI Controller #1 [8086:3a3a] 00:1e.0 PCI bridge [0604]: Intel Corporation 82801 PCI Bridge [8086:244e] (rev 90) 00:1f.0 ISA bridge [0601]: Intel Corporation 82801JIB (ICH10) LPC Interface Controller [8086:3a18] 00:1f.2 SATA controller [0106]: Intel Corporation 82801JI (ICH10 Family) SATA AHCI Controller [8086:3a22] 00:1f.3 SMBus [0c05]: Intel Corporation 82801JI (ICH10 Family) SMBus Controller [8086:3a30] 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: NVIDIA Corporation GT218 [GeForce 210] [10de:0a23] (rev a2) 01:00.1 Audio device [0403]: NVIDIA Corporation High Definition Audio Controller [10de:0be2] (rev a1) 02:00.0 FireWire (IEEE 1394) [0c00]: VIA Technologies, Inc. Many thanks!
  5. Thanks to Jake Lo creating a custom extra i was able to boot into OSX! mad props to Jake Lo. attached is my DSDT System DSDT.zip
  6. Oh snap! I had no idea! Thanks Jake Lo... I'm gonna dig into this over the weekend. Thank you!!!!
  7. More progress... using the myhack Installer with GraphicsEnabler=No I was able to get the Installer to boot. I currently have yet to finish an install with a successful restart and boot into OSX. I have gotten as far as the end of the install, but when I try to boot from the hard drive, it will not boot into OSX. I had to format the hard drive partition as GUID because it would not allow me to install it to an MBR Partition. I kept trying but the "Install" button would be grayed out and unclickable until I made it GUID. I also tried a fresh installer on a separate USB drive with no add ons and on a GUID Partition but it gets no where near as far as this tweaked MBR USB Installer even with GraphicsEnabler=No I got hung up around here after install/restart and it just sat here at this screen: Now I'm unable to even complete an install, the computer just powers off half way through the progress. My Installer looks like this: 10.9.4 myhack USB on an MBR partition I've got Mini-SSDT-DualLink.aml that I got from here I renamed it to ssdt.aml and placed it in /extra for the native resolution of 1600x900 Next I placed KernelPatcher.dylib in /extra/modules (I created the modules folder) and than all 3 of those kexts installed in extra/extension. TotallyFixStillWaiting.kext IOAHCIBlockStorageInjector.kext LegacyAppleAHCIPortIntelICHx.kext Currently I have org.chameleon.Boot.plist configured as follows. The changes I made are in bold <key>Graphics Mode</key> <string>1600x900x32</string> <key>GraphicsEnabler</key> <string>No</string> <key>Kernel</key> <string>mach_kernel</string> <key>Kernel Flags</key> <string></string> <key>Timeout</key> <string>20</string> <key>UseKernelCache</key> <string>No</string> the ssdt.aml looks like this inside: DefinitionBlock ("./dsdt.aml", "SSDT", 2, "HPQOEM", "general", 0x00001000) { Method (_SB.PCI0.GFX0._DSM, 4, NotSerialized) { If (LEqual (Arg2, Zero)) { Return (Buffer (One) { 0x03 }) } Return (Package (0x06) { "AAPL00,DualLink", Buffer (0x04) { 0x01, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00 }, "AAPL,snb-platform-id", Buffer (0x04) { 0x00, 0x00, 0x01, 0x00 }, "AAPL,ig-platform-id", Buffer (0x04) { 0x04, 0x00, 0x66, 0x01 } }) } } Thats where I'm at but getting closer... what changes can I make to move closer towards making this work? Thanks again!
  8. Thanks guys! So I tried Jake Lo's suggestion and then yours Herve... and it still wont boot right now I have all 3 of those kexts installed in extra/extension. TotallyFixStillWaiting.kext IOAHCIBlockStorageInjector.kext LegacyAppleAHCIPortIntelICHx.kext Here is some other info on the laptop that just came to mind, only 1USB port works and i have the builtin keyboard unplugged. I currently use a multi-port USB adapter with a usb keyboard and the builtin touchpad. I am planning on opening it up to replace the USBs and and install a new keyboard if and when I can get OSX installed on it. Could that have anything to do with it? what else could we try to get this thing to boot?
  9. Ok I tried that and still no luck... I tried it with cpus=1 and USBBusFix=yes, separately... what next? if this helps here is a snap shot of my Bios Configuration.
  10. lol, that makes sense... so i downloaded that, but this seems to install a little different. I created a myhack 10.9.4 USB using the link you provided I downloaded OSInstall(MBR)+OSInstall.mpkg(10.9.4.13E28).zip I followed these instructions: OSInstall.mpkg replace to /System/Installation/Packages/OSInstall.mpkg OSInstall replace to /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/Install.framework/Frameworks/OSInstall.framework/Versions/A/OSInstall next I put the mini-ssdt-DualLink.aml into /extra and renamed it to ssdt.aml it still wouldnt boot So I then created the folder /extra/modules and placed kernelpatcher.dylib and booted with cpus=1 still no luck when i boot with cpus=1 I get this hangup USBF: 2. 91 AppleUSBEHCI:: unable to get filterInteruptEventSource USBF: 2.100 AppleUSBEHCI::UIMInitialize - error occurred (oxe00002be) Still Waiting For Root Device Arrrrrrrrg... what else is there I can do?
  11. Ok so I googled MBR patch and came across this page for the 10.9.4 MBR Patch I downloaded the patch and followed the directions by using this command in terminal. sudo tar xvf ~/Downloads/Mavericks_10.9.4_MBR_Patch.tar -C /Volumes/"installer volume name" cool, now I have a my hack install with the MBR patch... but it still isn't booting... you may need to zoom into read this. AppleUSBEHCI::Found a transaction past the completion deadline on bus 0x1d,timing out! (Addr:4, EP:1) in addition to some other information below it... what does it all mean? I am determined to make this work!
  12. ACHI is enabled in my BIOS. I copied mini-ssdt-dualink.aml in to the extra folder on my USB install and renamed it ssdt.aml Within the /extra directory I created a folder and named it "modules" /extra/modules, next i copied over kernelpatcher.dylib Reboot and still nothing. I've tried cpus=1 aswell as USBBusFix=yes and still no luck. im not sure what USBBusFix=yes does but i read somewhere to try it so i did. I'm still stuck at "Still waiting on root device" What else could I do to boot this MBR Myhack Installer? Thanks!
  13. Thank you, I am going to give that a shot tonight... 2 nights ago I made a MyHack installation USB with the MBR Patch. The result was a freeze at "Still waiting for root device" What does that typically mean? Would you mind explaining what cpus=1 does? Also do you feel the mini-ssdt-DualLink.aml is necessary? One of the HP Probook guides suggests it if your screen is 1600x900 native resolution. Thanks!
  14. Sweet! I got it to work!! yay!!! finally after literally months of trying in my spare time... THANK YOU SO FREAKING MUCH FOR YOUR HELP!!! I LOVE THIS FORUM! ----------------------------------- Download VoodooHDA_V286_MAV.pkg.zip Thats the one that worked for me I've tested the outputs and inputs... green front and back output work... but only the pink (microphone in) on the front works... the back does not... any thoughts on a fix for that? So now that I have ethernet, video, and audio working...
  15. K, progress is being made... I just chose a random VoodooHDA from searching Hackintoshosx.com it's 2.8.0... here is the source: http://www.hackintoshosx.com/files/file/144-for-alc888-voodoohdaa2-8-0/ Says its for ALC888, curious are there a bunch of hacked versions of Voodoohda out there for specific hardware? is this not an official voodoohda? I think I'm about to try one from sourcefourge... here is the status: 1. Installed Voodoohda.kext and applehdadisabler.kext into extra/extensions 2. Ran MyFix with MyHack ( yes this as MyHack install of OSX) 3. Reboot System Info now displays this under audio: But still no output from the line out, I tested with a speakers and headphones. The interesting thing that also is happening is that whhn I play Video or audio files, its unable to play them... with youtube videos they start to play (with no sound) but the video hiccups immediately and is unable to play it. The files on the hard disk wont play at all, Not soundwise, but not one bit, the file just sits at 0:00 This thing here appeared in the taskbar, but you cannot turn the dial up or down with the mouse pointer. Here is an example of the audio files not playing in Quicktime or Itunes in addition to the frozen youtube video. Now that I installed Applehdadisabler.kext I assume the next step is just continue installing/running myfix/reboot a bunch of different versions of voodoohda.kext until one works. any thoughts?
  16. Lol.. "paralysis of analysis"... Been working alot, just got off work and about to plunge into it... will update soon
  17. So the other files like "prefane" and "settings loader" are irrelevant?
  18. in the meantime, I'm going to give voodooHDA a shot... What threw me off with voodoohda was that in addition to the voodoohda.kext there is also a VoodooHDA.prefPane, VoodooHdaSettingsLoader.app and perhaps some other files... what do I do with extra files? So to recap is all I need to do?: 1. Install voodooHDA.kext and applehdadisabler.kext to extra/extensions... 2. then run myfix and reboot? 3. Potentially edit a .plist if i get funky sound... is that it? Is there a specific source you would recommend to download voodooHDA and applehdadisabler.kext? there is a lot of conflicting info out there so I want to weed out any confusion. Thanks!
  19. Thank you! would you suggest trying Voodoohda before the ALC1200 DSDT method? I still haven't upgraded mavericks, I'm currently at 10.9.1, will voodoo effect my future updates? Attached is my compressed files: Dsdt.aml Dsdt.dsl Ioregistryexplorer output What is this Ioregistry? could you explain that please? You are awesome! DSDT_IORegistry.zip
  20. In the very beginning of my audio journey I tried voodoo hda but I hadn't a clue on how to install it properly... with so many versions available I didn't know which one to use. what is the best way to go about using voodoo hda to get audio to work? I could not figure out how to upload a file to this forum so I put the dsdt publicly available on my goofle drive: dsdt.aml https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B2K9GLf_9JpHMnc4T0VZWWtJaWM/edit?usp=sharing dsdt.dsl https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B2K9GLf_9JpHSlNYOVhxdk4tQlU/edit?usp=sharing and the here is my IORegistryExplore output: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B2K9GLf_9JpHcFJoSTZaamVjZ2M/edit?usp=sharing Thank you very much!

I googled information on how to get this to work: 00:1b.0 Audio device [0403]: Intel Corporation 82801JI (ICH10 Family) HD Audio Controller [8086:3a3e] That led me to this guide which led me to believe it was Realtek ALC1200 I tried to follow the guide to the best of my ability and was having trouble understand how DSDT works... I still don't get the whole HDEF, DTGP, patches, fixes, etc... So I wrote a post in another forum trying to better my understanding of DSDT, and was told I needed to get codec_dump.txt in linux to know exactly what to do...since then they haven't been much help in making sense of what to do I still don't understand how device ids, vendor ids, hex, and all that stuff actually works together. After the codec dump in linux: it reads that is Realtek888.. and that really through me for a loop. I started trying to figure things out like patching AppleHDA and patching DSDT... but I'm starting to become lost at sea... can someone throw me a life preserver? Thats where I'm at. What would you guys suggest? Thanks
  22. I have been trying forever to get my audio to work. But with nothing being displayed in the system profiler it leads me to believe that before adding kexts we will need to get OSX to recognize the device...
