  1. Great guide ruorbe! Thanks for your hard work. I was a bit of a newbie. Did have to swap wireless PCIe adapter. After a little effort, I was able to get Mavericks 10.9.1 to work perfectly on my i3 K56CA ultrabook. Actually used same files and was able to load flawlessly on an ASUS X550CA as well. Go figure.

    Found out that you don't actually need to install Clover. Can just copy your given EFI folder to the EFI partition after it is loaded. After editing default volume, machine specs, UUID, etc... and Clover just works.

    For your information, HDMI video works flawlessly as well. Connected to my HDTV and it identifies it as a second monitor. Can mirror or extend display. No HDMI audio though. I am certain can be done somehow through DSDT edit if some effort was involved.

    Only problems I encountered was non-functioning card reader as you mentioned, and loss of audio after upgrading to 10.9.2. Tried several workarounds, but was unable to get audio to work on upgrade. Not sure why. Had to re-install previous Mavericks version.

    Thanks mate, happy that works for you,

    Concerning your audio lost in 10.9.2 you can try this:

    Go to terminal and type /usr/local/bin/clover-genconfig >config.plist

    you'll get a config.plist on your desktop and only gotta search for sth like

    <dict>
    <key>Comment</key>
    <string>Apple HDA codec</string>
    <key>Find</key>
    <data>
    hBnUEQ==

    Just add it to your config.plist.

    Best

  2. i'm sorry, i can not install clover, i don't know why, please help me.

    My laptop is Asus s56CA and I disabled Secure Boot, my mac is 10.9.0

    thanks !

    HI,

    .Format EFI partition
    .Install Clover

    .Edit config.plist :
       -<key>DefaultVolume</key>
         <string>XXXXXXXXXXXX</string>

        -<key>SerialNumber</key>
        <string>XXXXXXXXXXXXXX</string>

        - <key>CustomUUID</key>
         <string>XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX</string>

    .Copy +  Paste the folder into EFI partition

    and this should do the work

  3. Hi....

    Thanks a lot for the info. I really need to unlock the BIOS , bcoz I'm still having some graphics problem like glitches and artifacts and want to fix them. And also I want to use the uefi boot so I also need to unlock extra uefi options. I was trying to unlock the bios using phoenix tool. If you remember could you please tell me what exactly I have to change to unlock all the BIOS features.

    Yes I agree clover was not that good 3 years ago but now its got loads of options and its getting better day by day. Clover has got good response and developers are very keen in implementing loads of features with weekly updates.

    Many Thanks ;)

    I used the program named amibcp for AMI BIOS which is very simple to unlock, but to be honest I don't have experience with Phoenix BIOS.

  4. Hi ruorbe....below is the download link for my clover config.plist file.

    https://www.dropbox.com/s/03ejbvlk9594pte/config.plist

    Many Thanks :)

    Thanks for sharing bud,

    I made a modded BIOS for the X53E, unlocking the graphics aperture and size but unfortunately I don't have that laptop anymore. Ami Bios is easy to mod though, you can find the tools here http://www.bios-mods.com and only need to install virtual box, if don't have Windows, to make your own.

    About Clover I've been using it in my last hacks because right now is plenty of possibilities and can patch everything and also UEFI bugs have been corrected. Three years ago was a totally different story, thats why.

  5. Hi ruorbe...Thanks for your help. However I'm not in need of any files from your boot pack. I'm almost done with vanilla install except these function keys. In vanilla install i don't have to use all those patched kexts ur having in boot pack as my system loads native kexts and if needed clover patches it from bootloder. And also I see a Display profile folder with plist file in your boot pack, may i know what is that for ?

    By the way I don't think your model hardware is same as mine, bcoz u seem to have Elan touch-pad in which I got synaptics touch-pad. And also DSDT looks bit different. Did you apply any edits or patches to make your function keys work? Would you mind sharing your full model and serial number of ur model? So that I can double check it.

    I think some one like EMlyDinEsH should have a look at my clean dsdt and figure it out....!!!

    Thanks Again :)

    may I see your clover config.plist, please?

    it's what I got stored not always clover has been stable, anyway, although you didn't find it, the guy found you, enjoy your hack.

    that's what it is:

    http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/274957-guide-how-to-fix-spdisplays-display-in-about-this-mac-window-20120820-update-tiny-app-added/

  6. Hi ruorbe , Thanks for reply. I don't use all those files as mine is mountain lion 10.8.5 vanilla install with clover boot loader. So all my hardware use native kexts except for trackpad n wifi. I use clover to patch my native kexts for audio n VGA.

    Anyway I tried using ur DSDT n Asusfnkeys.kext and got only volume, sleep working.

    Does all fn keys working on ur system with these files? Which OSX version u use n which installation method you used for it? Have you followed any guide to patch fn keys? Please let me know.

    Thanks again :)

    That's the boot pack I got for your laptop which is the same model that one I had.

    I've always used my hack installation method and everything is working flawlesly in my laptops (speedstep, sleep, fn keys, brightness at boot…). That's the battery patch:

    Fist of all I'd like to thank Dinesh for all the hard work developing the touchpad and Fn Keys' kexts, without himwouldn't have been possible.

    The SD card reader won't work and surely you'd have to swap your WIFI card for a compatible one, all the rest will work like a charm.

    You are going to need a 8GB flash Drive, a Mac or a Hack, some spare time, a bit of patience and al least half brain to make it.
