  1. note: current EDP r264 seems broken for D620 on LION. #1) cannot access edpweb.command says something about not having the correct permissions #2) edptool.command when used still breaks Ethernet #3) chameleon 2170 is still needed even with the new nvram. was able to salvage system by reinstalling osx on top of harddrive, copying a backup EDP (r232 i believe) to run the edpweb.command : note : EPD automatically updates chameleon to 2182, so have to replace with old version again. I'm not 100% certain, but is it possible for EDP to replace the chameleon bootloader on its own ? What events can trigger chameleon the be updateed? i think some of my BSOD's where i blame on something strange happening may be attributed to accidentally updating chameleon. running EDP 265 on top of old install : EDPweb.command was successful but system forced to shutdown after a reboot. Trying to find the last stable version to roll back (EDP 242)
  2. System running pretty stable for the last 24 hrs. No BSOD or KPs. One thing i've noticed is, during video playback say on youtube there are times when the video freezes but the audio is still playing. I can rewind back for a little bit and it will be ok again. but 30seconds later the same thing happens. Has anyone else experienced that ? I've tried the GMAbooster and doesn't seem to help, also this probably isn't just related to videos within flash containers. NVram related perhaps ?
  3. I Think i grabbed the new NVram of EDP. Been using R243 EDP since yesterday. system has been pretty stable except for 1 hiccup today. What's the best way to revert to recover from kp crash caused from unsupported kext or EDP update? Right now I really don't have any sure method other than reinstalling from a clean install. With EDP 4, I was able to boot with the install disk and use myhack to load the default boot drivers, but that method no longer works. If i try to use the USB install disk /w myhack to install extras on top of EDP 5, the next boot up usually ends up with a KP during boot. I'm trying to use osx as a daily driver and switch from windows, so really want to avoid the total hdd wipe.
  4. system ran fine for a good day until this morning when I tried to setup imap mail and it was downloading heavy amounts of msg's and then bsod. i think there is a high chance the system would bsod during a prime numbers test. To new users with this laptop, i think snow leopard might be a more stable choice unless you have to use Lion, id avoid as it reminds me more of setting up linux in the early days. Don't get me wrong, I'm grateful for all the help of the osxlatitude community which without them, I wouldn't be able to even have osx running. but keep in mind, osx LION on a D620 with the current EDP configuration is more of an experimental than stable, and likely lose hours of productivity from making it work and the random bsods. I'm sure some other osx versions with the right hardware runs almost seamless.
  5. Started getting BSOD this morning. First instance was when installing time machine. rolled back Chameleon to r2170 from r2181 by copying the boot file over to root folder. System seemed stable. (1hr later) Proceeded to update EDP with Herve's Kext including the stac 9200 audio. No BSOD's so far, 2hrs + and counting Seems Kernel panic'd after 3-4 hrs. some how chameleon replaced itself with the r2181 ver. likely from accidentally clicking edpweb.
  6. I think you're right about the audio kext being the cause of BSOD herve, I've tried those kext with both audio kexts EDP default voodoo 3 Patched AppleHDA for STAC 9200 audio. and gotten the BSOD. I also tried installing everything and having no audio kext. So far its been over an hour and hasn't BSOD'd Any suggestions ?
  7. thanks herve and bronxteck, will give these a try later tonight.
  8. EDP installer now works , Ethernet works. However, i'm getting the restart computer screen after about 30 minutes and system seems unstable after that. Might not be fault with EDP. though I haven't put anything in my current newly installed system. that I had not done when running the previous EDP.
  9. If I start getting kernal panics / restarts screens. What would be the best way to reset the ktxts ? Would booting with the usb installer and using myhack to install the boot EDP's be the best way ? Do I need to delete my current /extra folder before attempting this ?
  10. Hi Herve, I remade a myhack install to use 10.7.5 and updated EDP like you suggested. Everything seemed to be working for about 10 minutes or so and then the restart computer screen of death started appearing. It seems when opening the edpweb tool the chance of that msg coming up is pretty high. These are some of the things I've done since installing EDP, would any of them seem cautionary to you ? 1) Installed EDP with default settings + GMA brightness fixer 2) Installed chudtools and GMAbooster 3) Installed software updates: safari, itunes, airport the first restart screen happened during the software update. I had it running for about 30minutes when it happened. Once the first restart screen pops out the system goes downhill from there.
  11. The new EDP 5 is not working for my system: Dell D620 GMA 950 1440x900 Mac OSX LION Could anyone with the older EDP's upload their EDP files so I can use those. My old EDP was erased when EDP 5 came out and i don't know how to get that back. Thanks. Edit: System BSOD mostly due to chameleon 2181 boot loader. using 2170 seems to be more stable although BSOD still happen.
  12. EDPWeb, stops at step 4) calling myfix the process times out, and the main window says "Failed to Load" Reason the request timed out.
  13. hi iMick, EDIT: I found out i've been using the edptool.command all along. i'll try the EDPweb now. So I think the update via edptool.command was breaking it, maybe i'll just use edptool.command just to update
  14. I tried updating the EDP again and same issue Ethernet broken.
  15. iMick, I was trying to connect an external monitor VGA (1920 x 1080) in extended and / or Lid down mode and the bottom part of my screen has corrupt images. In 1440x900 it works, but any resolution above that does not. I've attached an image in the initial post. There's been posts on the forum that suggest older versions of EDP fixes this problem, but not the new ones, some have reported this issue after updating to recent EDP's. The Ethernet bug was an issue i ran into while trying to find a fix for the external monitor issue.
