  1. @Jake Lo - I dunno why but NULLCPU kext is required for M6400. Removing it was a mistake. With the AppleRTC patch I don't need the Patched10.12 kext for it. So that's good. So how did I fix - I did a full reinstall but without formatting HD instead of an Upgrade. However before doing that I went to Utility->Terminal and deleted all kexts in /L/E on the hard drive. I was hoping the full reinstall would rebuild the cache. Not sure if it did or not but it sure stopped crashing. Everything else seems to be working except Bluetooth. I hope to figure it out shortly. The only thing surprising is that I didn't have to copy VoodooHDA et. al to /L/E for sound to work. This is a first.
  2. It did not make any difference. It still hangs at same line for Nvidia Please let me know if you have any other suggestions. Meanwhile I'm cloning the HD with the 10.13 installed, yet crashing, and then try scratch install. For some reason if that goes through... The only reason I'm doing scratch it because after all I was able to install 10.13 and it seemed to be working fine until I tried to grow a brain and make it perfect when there was no real sign any kext was causing any damage. I will make sure I put the backup HD in and leave the original untouched so can always try and work with config.plist on it.
  3. So for some reason it is stuck on below line for 10 minutes. NVDAStartup: Official nv_disable is unchecked and Inject NVidia is checked. Just like I had before and it should totally work. So some other setting not sure which is preventing boot. I even tried different USB ports, just in case. When I initially installed 10.13 I had no issues whatsoever. AppleIntelCPUPM I think you checked, but not sure. Any ideas what can be changed now?
  4. @Jake Lo - Just wondering if you had any suggestions?
  5. Clover folder on USB stick for M6400 attached. CLOVER.zip
  6. Got it. So like I said, still get that panic I explained above. Doesn't actually let me boot into the OS on the Hard Drive. So I reinstall from scratch? Or anything else I can try?
  7. @JakeLo. Thank you very much for that suggestion. So debug=0x100 halted the screen on panic. I'm not using SSDT with this laptop, however, can you clarify where CpuPM, CPu01st is in config.plist? I couldn't find it. Anyways, the log halts on last line : Please go to https://panic.apple.comto report this panic. Huh? Few lines before those are @kec.Libm 1 @kec.pthread 1 @kec.corecrpyto 1.0 If that means anything? Chicken and egg problem now...If I can't boot I can't fix permissions/cache.
  8. So I had installed Clover onto my Enoch booted 10.12 laptop. Since on my M6500 NullCPU kext was not providing any benefit and continued to work after I removed it, I thought I would do the same on my M6400. Additionally since Clover has a AppleRTC kernel patch I also removed the 10.12 specific kext and repaired permissions. That's when my problems started. I proceeded to create a Clover USB with 10.13. After all the objective of getting Clover on to 10.12 in the first place was to make 10.13 upgrade easier. So I did finish 10.13 install all the way through. Then I booted with USB stick but booted to my 10.13 hard drive. The problem is my laptop still restarts after booting. Bronxtech had suggested single user mode on my broken 10.12 install but I saw that too late. However now, even after 10.13 installed, my laptop is behaving the same way. So I booted using -s and sure enough my /L*/E* kexts were intact, i.e. not clobbered by 10.13 install. I was feeling very happy and started repairing permissions. As soon as I was about to "touch /L*/E*, I saw the same symptoms - fast scrolling of lines too quick to read and a restart. So basically I can't even get screen to pause to see what the problem is. Are there any other options I can try? I would hate to have to do complete fresh install of 10.13 after formatting my HD. At this time not even sure if my problem is my USB stick or my HD. I'm using all the kexts and DSDT I used with 10.12 Enoch so I expected to at least have a bootable laptop.
  9. @Asxetos. So I started from scratch on the DSDT dumped by Clover. I still can't get past my "instant wake" problem. It is my webcam on second USB hub. Removing _PRW should do the trick as per ACPI specs but it does not. Here are the steps I applied. Maybe we can compare notes, especially if you are able to sleep yours... 1) PNP patch to fix syntax error 2) HPET (else reboots right after booting into Mac OS) 3) IRQ else USB does not work. 4) config.plist EHCx --> EHxx patches. My DSDT had EHCI instead of EHC1, so I modified patch available in the dropdown to make the adjustments Now after that I tried taking the USB3 _PRW patches eliminating Series 6 changes before applying (my board is series 5). The patch name says USB3 but it actually also patches EHCx. Whether I do this or not does not make difference. I really don't think anything else is needed. I applied a slew of patches which did diddly. I have USBInjectAll and SSDT injector as per Rehabman guide to try and help out my USB hubs, but not sure even that did anything either. Wakereason in logs had AZAL PBTN LID EH02. For the simple reason of eliminating, I took out _PRW for AZAL, PBTN and LID from DSDT (As an aside, I've renamed AZAL to HDEF using config.plist patch). Needless to say I took out _PRW for EHC2 (becomes EH02 after renaming patch) as well. Like I said, I, and my laptop not able to sleep. Wakereason keeps saying EH02 Taking care of my M6400 before resuming work on M6500
  10. Thanks again. Will do more research based on what you mentioned above. Right now my Precision laptops are giving me lot of grief.
  11. Doh! Saw this too late. Anyways, muddled through creating Clover Stick for High Sierra. Partway through the install. Will start fresh thread for HS when I'm at a point to ask questions. Right now I have to simply get through it. Think might be too late to turn back. I have already started installing the 2nd stage.
  12. Folks I kinda messed up my laptop. After installing Clover on my m6400 I took out NULLCPUKext from Clover/kexts/Other and /L/E and repaired permssions. Now as soon as a login it reboots. I managed to quickly copy the kext in "Other" but that's not enough I think. I need to copy in /L/E and repair. I managed to even copy in /L/E but there's not enough time to quickly repair. So question is can I boot of my USB like I'm installing, and go to terminal and build cache and repair permissions on my HD? sudo command does not work in terminal. Unless I figure out a way I'm looking at a reinstall, and if so, might as well attempt High Sierra.
  13. @Syonagar - Thanks for suggestion. I just now saw this. Will definitely try and update this post. Right now pulling my hair out trying to get another laptop to sleep. EDIT - Tried every possible thing. Laptop always starts at 100% brightness and don't see any nvram.plist. I ran the script to save. didnt do anything
  14. This is the frustrating part. When I want to use sound it does not work. At other times it will work. So whatever you said, I've tried all combinations. Never worked. Decided to try one more time and turned it on. And sound just works! So basically I don't need to try anymore since sound is working. OF course the next time I want to watch youtube it will not work, but I promise to not complain, because I need to figure out the alignment of the planets before listening to audio. Right now I have a car with its fuel indicator broken. Hopefully someone will find a permanent fix one day.
  15. Folks, I just realized sound does not work after High Sierra upgrade. I repaired permission and cache multiple times, but no dice Any ideas if I need new kext or some patch? I tried various versions of CodecCommander and am at the latest right now,
  16. Okay so everything seemed to work in 10.13. Now I have tried to install Supplemental Update for High Sierra. Whether I try through App Store or downloading manually, it arbitrarily aborts without warning after restarting. No error, nothing. No extra menu item created in Clover. No macosinstaller directory created either. Wierd. Almost like Apple is targeting machines with Dual Boot or at least Hack dual boots. At least give me an error I can try resolve It would seem just like I had to strip the HD off windows before I could upgrade from 10.12 to 10.13, I need to do that every time I have to update OS. I think I'm just going to wait for 10.14. Does not seem to be worth the trouble. Unless of course someone who dual boots (does anyone here???) has a solution.
  17. I have a bigger issue right now. I tried installing the Supplemental Update. It created a menu item for me in clover boot loader. Tried to install and I get dreaded OSinstall.mpkg missing error. What do I do now? I can still boot into my Mac OS and use the laptop, but that menu item is not going to go away and I cannot upgrade EDIT - For once did something different. Actually downloaded update from AppStore. It was half the size of what I downloaded from Apple Web site (???) but it worked! Lost sound after update. Rebuilt permissions and cache and got it back. Finally, while my NVRAM problem not fixed, I saw that CloverThemeManager installed with Clover. Not sure I've seen this option before. And I must have accidently installed it. With it I was able to change the Clover Menu theme. It is actually not the one I selected, but at least it is something that looks better NVRAM is still issue. My brightness setting still not getting saved.
  18. @Asxetos. Shoot. It's been such a long time. I blundered through Rehabman guide when applying patches. I know it took me 6 evenings of hard work after work and I'm still not sure it's legit. In any case I have made some progress with 10.13, will post new files in that thread.
  19. Dual Boot Working Now. Turned off Legacy Scan. The problem was "Custom". Made it "Auto" Once again I see two windows icons like before. However, unlike before the 1st of them boots into windows! I think I can go back to Custom / remove extra entry / rename properly etc etc later. Need to to now go and fix remaining problems with 10.13. Right now BT works but Wifi doesn't. I know I had patched kext before. Now I want to try Clover patch. Right USB ports also work. Left USB3 ports dont work. Will once again try Clover patch I already know WebCam works and prevents Sleep. Need to figure this out. Let's see how far I can get before attaching my files.
  20. Okay so I made some progress. I think... The /boot was not getting overwritten when I installed Clover. I would have thought it would. I renamed /boot to /boot.enoch. I copied boot from my EFI partition root to / Now I am booting into Clover. Problem is previously with Enoch I could see menu for booting Windows. With Clover I didn't. So I enabled Legacy Scan in my Plist. Now I see 2 Windows icons. This made sense at first. On 1 HD I have a Mac Parition and a Windows Partition. OS is installed on both and is how I was dual booting with Enoch. The 2nd HD I use for data and is Windows formatted. So I expected one of these 2 Windows icons let me boot into Windows. Unforuntately I get a wierd picture displaying and it just sits there. Need to get dual boot working with Clover so I can proceed to fix remaining OSX issues. Really appreciate any pointers. I'm searching for answers but not getting anywhere.
  21. @Asxetos, FWIW attaching my DSDT if you still needed it. PS - I have successfully loaded 10.13 using Clover USB but for the life me cannot get Clover to install and activate on the HD. The entire point of going to Clover was to get Sleep + Device issues working correctly. I see no difference in functionality right now since I can't seem to get Enoch disabled (subject of another thread I've started) DSDT.aml.zip
  22. So the idea was to try figure out how to use Clover with an NVidia laptop. Something I have never been able to do before. I had challenges with creating a 10.13 USB stick before when I fixed my Latitude E5440. However I kept at it and finally got one created that worked with Clover. I decided good to try with my Precision M6500 which had 10.12 and few issues with devices, sleep, etc. I was very excited when my 10.13 Clover USB booted my Precision M6500. I proceeded to install 10.13 on my Precision M6500. I made sure it didn't switch me to APFS. I was worried unnecesarily since I don't have SSD in this laptop. In any case I got 10.13 installed. I was so excited. I installed Clover latest version (v4233 by the way which is also what i used for my USB). I used boot0s not bootaf. This is because I have a dual boot on the SAME disk. This is how I had Enoch working earlier with 10.12 and Windows dual boot. So I restart expecting to see a nice Clover menu with Macintosh HD, Recovery HD, Windows. What do I get? I get COMMAND LINE interface for Enoch. Huh? I put my USB back. I see something I hadn't noticed before. The menu does not include Windows. So my 10.13 Clover USB not able to see my Windows Partition. HOWEVER, I install Clover on my HD, and but instead of replacing Enoch, it gets rid of the Graphics Menu of Enoch and gives me its command line interface. So I have 10.13 installed with the help of Clover USB, AND I have installed Clover on the HD, BUT somehow, Enoch is still there ?!?!?!?!?! I can use my laptop and can patch my kext to get Wifi working but the whole point was to use Clover and do this correctly including getting my USB3 and Webcam and Sleep working propertly. Instead what I got is 10.13 and lost Enoch graphics at boot. I am now officially bald. Someone please help me.
  23. Thanks, both. However, I'm having a bad weekend with my Precision M6500. Will look at this soon. EDIT: syon's command did not work installed clover 4243 today. NO difference. Tried syon's command again. NADA.
  24. Tried everything I can think off besides reinstalling Clover with RC scripts. Played with clover.plist settings for Themes/NVRAM and CCC in System Preferences. No dice. Just can't get NVRam to persist Wonder if it's anything to do with APFS. Because I didn't know about automatic conversion to APFS when I upgraded this laptop, that's what I got. Would sure like to get this fixed while I think I should focus on upgrading my precision enoch laptops to 10.13 first.
  25. Bronxtech, I think what you said above is for the "from scratch" install? That makes sense then, if they changed some things for High Sierra. I have always skipped apple login during my scratch installs. In any case I finally solved my problem. First stopped relying on Apple tools. I took my trusted free windows tool - Macrium Reflect - and proceeded to make images of each of my partitions onto individual USB sticks. - The Mac EFI Partition - The Mac Partition - The Windows EFI partition (16MB partition) - The Windows Partition. I then whacked The Windows Partition. Now I had previously resized The Mac Partition creating 1GB of unallocated space I was hoping High Sierra would create the Recovery Partition in. It had never done so failing with that stupid error I have mentioned about Windows not being able to boot. Minus The Windows Partition on the disk, it did as I expected. Created a 650 MB partition just below The Mac Partition. So I have 350 MB of lost space now, which is fine. I made sure I could login to Mac OS. Then restored the The Windows Partition Image back. I have dual boot working again. So now the only mystery is Clover Menu is showing an extra item. Boot Microsoft EFI from EFI (this boots into Windows, but why that name?) Boot MacOs from Macintosh SSD (this boots into 10.13) Boot MacOS from Recovery HD (this one?) Boot Recovery from Recovery HD (or this one?) The last 2 have me stumped. One of them is the Recovery HD, but dunno what the other one is. I'm afraid to even select and boot in case it does something I don't want and trashes my dual boot. I'm proceeding to test out my 10.13 install now, making sure all functions and devices work.
